Kali River Rapids at AK or Popeye´s at IOA?

Which of those is the best water ride? In which one you get more soaked?

We certainly go wetter on the Popeye ride than at Kali. I think the Popeye ride may be a big longer too.

Well it all of a matter of where you sit. We have ridden both several times and we have gotten completly soaked one time and the next come off completly dry.

Key to getting soaked or not getting soaked is how many people. If you are full you have no control. But if its slow and there are 4 on one side and you are 2 then go opposite of them if you wanna stay semi dry. If you want to get wet sit next to them.

Atleast that is my theory and it hasn't proved me wrong yet.

Of course the theming and messages of each ride are completely different, but I do prefer Popeye as a wet raft ride. I've always been quite wet coming off of Popeye. We usually do Dudley's Ripsaw Falls first, so we start out soaked!

Popeye for sure!!!! You get soaked on that ride, I have never gotten soaked on Kali.

You will get much wetter on Popeye. But as always, the Disney themeing at Kali is far superior. The line area at Kali is among the best that I have ever seen at any theme park - amazing detail. The only thing at IOA that comes close is the Mummy line area.

Bluto's Bilge Barge is a much better ride. You get soaked. There is much more to look at (more interesting than a burning forest like in Kali).

I hate to say this (as I'm no fan of IOA or Universal), but POPeye AND Ripsaw Falls are both "better" than Kali Rapids. You get wetter and I think both are longer. Last time on Kali (which was last week) a kid in the same raft as ours asked at rides' end----"Was That it??"
Yup-that was it.
A shame in a way, as Kali COULD have been made a lot longer that it is, with another chance or two for a soaking. But as I understand it $$$$ was an object, so they are now left with "what might have been---."

I wish they would have put as much thought into the ride itself.

Actually it was not. They actually dug up and moved some of the underground systems to achieve the drop because they thought it was so great.

We got much, much wetter on Popeye. Everyone in our raft was soaked. I won't ride it again! People were getting off and wringing water out of their socks!

I am getting such a kick out of this thread, because my experience has been the exact opposite!

I rode the USO Popeye's ride, and came out bone dry. (of course the lady with the white shorts and no underwear in front of me got soaking wet. . !)

However, *both* times I rode Kali River Rapids, I got completely, sopping-wet soaked! Last time, I was wearing coral shorts with purple underwear, and when I got soaked, the whole world got to see! Never thought I'd need to coordinate my underwear with my outer wear! LMAO

we rode both last week and gotta say popye was MUCH better

we did rip saw falls before popye also it is a great way to get and stay soaked

i was disappointed in Kali
my DD and nephew both asked "so that's it ?" when the ride was over and DD was the only one on the raft at Kali to get wet
such a missed oppurtunity for Disney i know we won't be waitingin that line again
