It is has been a while since I updated. I had a phone conference with my planner a week or so ago. It went really well. We were eligible for the 10% discount for using both Disney photography and videoyay!
We switched our the prereception menu from cheese to sliced fruit to save about $300. We officially cut the landau carriageno biggie. The more I thought about it, I realized it would probably be really hard for my Dad to get in and out of it and if he cant ride in it, I dont want to. Pamela said we could just buy our own swizzle sticks and cocktail piks and she would make sure they got to the bartender. I know this doesnt seem important, but theres nothing we like better than a boat drink and they just arent the same without a little flair.
We officially switched the scallop dish over to one with a risotto. One snag, and I think it must have just been a miscommunication, is that I thought Pamela had said we could tentatively hold a spot around the World Showcase and as long as no one else booked an event there, Adam and I could use it so we could get fireworks pics after the wedding. Well, I guess this wasnt possible and so she said if fireworks pics were a must have for me, which they are, that we needed to book a dessert party. On top of that, the only venue left for our party size was the Morocco Oasis. She said she would help us keep the menu price down so we would come in right at or around the food and beverage minimum. So we went ahead and booked it. Im actually kind of excited about it. Our reception ends at 8:30, so the timing is perfect and I think it will be a nice cap to evening. Before this I really had no interest in an Illuminations DP, which is why we chose Sago Cay for our welcome partybut since this way we will be assured fireworks pics Im on board.
Oh, and the pastry chef told us it would be $1,000, yes that is a one followed by three zeroes, to mold our pets out of white chocolate. They were actually great about giving us some other options and once they did this quick mock up to sort of show what they could do with the pictures, we decided to go that way:
They made sure to emphasize that this was just a quick mock up by the chef to show kind of what they had in mind. They will make it so that it looks like the pets are in and around the coral, etc. We also requested two specific sea creatures for the cake, a turtle and an octopus and they said those would be no problem. Im sure it will turn out fine, I dont think I have ever seen them do a cake I thought was a hot mess.
So, that was most of what we went over in the phone call. It went really well and now we are just waiting for our updated BEO.
I have done some other stuff too. I booked a rental for a minivan. I thought it would be good to have the extra room and since 5 of us (my parents and grandmother, plus Adam and I) are flying down together, it made sense to get something will lots of room. We got a good rate too through Budget with a code my mom found. I was trying to Priceline one, but with no luck.
Today I bought Adam and I two APs to Sea World so we could use the AP discount to book our Discovery Cove day. The saving paid for the Aps a couple of times overdef worth it. I dont know if we will actually make it over to Sea World, but it doesnt really matter. We booked the dolphins swim for 5 people and just the day resort package for the remaining people. When the time gets closer I think I will also book a cabana so we have a central hang out. I cant wait.
Also, my MOH asked about throwing me a shower, but with everyone so spread out, I didnt think it would really work. Instead she is going to organize a joint Last Fling before the Ring outing for Adam and I on the Thursday night before the wedding. I think this will be lots of fun and it will give us a chance to hang out with friends that we just dont get to see as often as we would like. I told her to make it surprise, but nothing too crazy since the next day is the rehearsal, etc. I dont want to wake up with tiger in the room and no memory a la The Hangover.
Hmm
What else? We have paid our minimum expenditure and they were great about letting us make multiple charges to our Disney Visa so we could get the rewards points. Just an FYIif you plan to do this, allow for some extra time, because it seems to take a week for the charge to go from pending to be able to be paid, and then another day or so for the payment post. We had to make 3 separate payments since our limit is 7k. Not a big deal and they havent said anything about it, but it did put us over the deadline for the minimum payment. On the upside thats $200 for us to use towards our stay at the Boardwalk!
Oh and BethieI did ask about character outfits and our assistant sent us a pic of what Donald and Daisy would be wearing and Donald was in a lovely tux and Daisy was wearing this beauty:
Uh, I dont think so. I politely asked if she had other options and she told me to send a pic of what I had in mind, so I sent them a pic from PrincessSheas wedding where she was wear a lovely yellow frock which should match Donald and Mickey nicely. This was on Friday afternoon so I havent heard back yet. Honestly, if she cant wear something halfway normal I may ditch her and invite Minnie instead, lol.
Alright, I think that is it. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Back to the grind tomorrow

ETA: Wow, sorry Chewie is like Godzilla sized. I did resize it in photobucket...oh well.
