WOOHOO! I am so excited. I can't believe the travel options we have with DVC.

I am having a small get together with a few of my friends and their DD's for my DD's 8th birthday in July. I booked a cafe b-day party at American Girl Place, and decided we would have much more fun if it wasn't a day trip. Shelburne Murray Hill actually had a 2 bedroom available in July! :cool1:

Do you know how good it feels to book a hotel room in NYC for $95? (the transfer fee) I know it is technically "costing" me more than the $95, but the cash out of of pocket is all I concern myself with, and you can't beat $95 for a hotel suite in NYC in the middle of July!

We love the Shelburne Murray Hill and have stayed there many times. It is in a great neighborhood and has a wonderful staff. Have fun at American Girl.

How many points is this costing you? I too have thought about trying for the Shelburne for an overnight trip. I am curious to know the points used and also your review when you get back!!!!!!

Congrats! That sounds wonderful. :thumbsup2

I am planning on taking my daughter to the new American Girl in California for her Birthday when we visit Disneyland in July. :wizard:

We got extremely lucky and they had a 2 bedroom suite available. It is 58 points for the night (Tuesday). It just so happens, I needed to cancel 60 points off out June vacation, nobody grabbed them up on the rent board, so I used those points. Perfect!

A studio at the Shelburne is 43 points/night while the 1 bedroom is 48 points. There is no Fri/Sat point hike. :teeth:

We've been thinking about trying that hotel, too. Please let us know how it goes :goodvibes

Have a great time in NYC and at the American Girl cafe!
We have done the American girl thing twice since it's right here in Chicago when we've had friends visit us from out of town.
I kept saying I wouldn't break down and get DD an American Girl until she's older (she's in kingergarten). I kept telling her, you can have one when you can read their books and then pick out the one you want based on the story. I thought I was pretty smart, but then they come out with Marisol born in Chicago who loves to dance- "But mom, I was born in Chicago and I dance- we're like twins and I'm practicing reading really really hard!" How can you say no to that!
But if I can make a suggestion, pick the tea over a lunch or dinner. The food is more "fun" at tea time and based on the doll's stories. Very cute.

You will love your NYC trip. We used points for the Shelbourne at Murray Hill this past December for a long weekend. The location was great, lovely views, great room (bathroom a bit small), and the staff were excellent with the kids- my kids adored the doorman.

The American Girl Doll shop is OVER the top, and the cafe is beautiful. I get goose bumps just thinking of our time there. Don't forget to stop at Dylans Candy Bar- it's the greatest candy shop- a must do with both little and big kids.
My sister and I had fun looking at candy we loved when we were little. And it has a bathroom (good to know when you are out and about in the city w/ kids).

My son loved the central park zoo- as did the rest of us. He also had to see and climb all over the statue of Balto.

There is so much more...I think we will plan on going back more often.
