We've only been to WDW once. Our first family vacation was last year at the POR which was a Beautiful resort.

We booked for Nov of 2008 at the POR and when I was discussing with dh, he agreed that a monorail resort would be a huge benefit to our family. ( )

I have been checking online daily and nothing has been available at either the CR or the Poly and calling every once and a while in between.

Lo and behold I am losing my voice and this morning I check and they are both available!! I just called and switched our resort from POR to CR.

The monorail and location appeals greatly, I just so loved the grounds at the POR.
Please tell me that this was a great idea. :wizard:
Any links to other threads that would be beneficial to read?

The other option was the Poly, I just wasn't sure I wanted to do the price increase, so I know today, that's going to be the thing on my mind.

Also, the CM said that with the garden view/standard view it just depends what you get depending on availability when you check in. So this could be either a parking lot or a pretty view correct? I did not pay for the tower view options.

Thanks for any input!:wizard: :cutie: :yay:

It's all a matter of personal preference. I don't believe you can go wrong with any of the monorail resorts. I would pick the Poly simply because the theming appeals to me more. Some pick the CR or GF because the theming appeals to them more.

I think anytime you go from a moderate to a deluxe, you made a good choice.

I think you made an excellent choice. Whether in the tower or not, the CR is my favorite resort, and as you mentioned one of the main reasons is because of the monorail. To take the bus from POR to and from the magic kingdom could be an hour or more. Now, you are just a short walk or monorail ride away. Also, you can find yourself in epcot within about 15 minutes! Enjoy the resort, I know you wont regret the decision...

See that was the other point about the Poly. The theming really does appeal to me.
What is the location of the poly to the other parks?

I am a fan of POR but have been convinced that the CR is one resort that I would like to visit because of the distance to the MK... For us it makes sense because of location... I hear nothing but great things and I am sure you will enjoy it! I always like trying something new anyway... its all part of the fun at Disney! :goodvibes

The advantage to the Polynesian besides the theme is how they are located right by the TTC, so you can walk there when wanting to get to the Epcot Monorail. Besides that it's still a Monorail or boat ride to the Magic Kingdom and buses to the other parts of WDW. The Contemporary is the only Resort with a walkway to the Magic Kingdom and is the closet Resort to the Magic Kingdom.

Ahh decisions, decisions :rolleyes1

Thank you for the input. How long generally, from the POLY is the monorail ride?

I would say 10 minutes, when you factor in stoping at the Grand Floridian and there is always the chance of the Monorail stoping on the tracks for like 1 minute or something because there is a Monorail already at the station where it's going.

Also keep in mind that the TTC is the next stop on the resort monorail from the CR, which may make it even faster than walking from the Poly. I was at CR the other day and it was under 15 minutes from the time I decided to go to Epcot, to the time I was physically in the park!

Thanks again. Such good info here you guys! :cutie:

Can I ask another question? Between the Poly and the CR, which would be kid friendly/appealing?

But I have to go with my gut and try the Poly. It really is appealing to me more.
I'm going to call and try now.

;) :cutie: :wizard: :woohoo:  :cheer2: princess: :yay:

The CM is telling me that we may not be able to make modifications this close together since I switched to the CR this morning. :confused3

I'm holding.

Ok it's all set and official. :wizard:

The only thing I am disappointed in is that the CM told me that I was not able to put in a location request.

I know that it's not guaranteed, but I asked in a post a couple weeks ago regarding views and was given the information that if I booked garden view we could request a particular 'longhouse'. Maybe I misunderstood?
The CM told me that if I wanted a certain view I would have to book a different location. I told her that I wanted garden view but just wanted to note on the account that I would prefer to be in the tokelau section. She said I couldn't do that. I'm confused.

But EXCITED and I think we made the right choice with the POLY.

I appreciate all of the input that you guys have given me. I finally feel happy with our decision, and I know it's going to be a while before we get to go back so I want this to be a well thought out decision for my fmaily. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :cutie: :grouphug:

I think I just got whiplash! Holy cow, you can change your mind FAST! I personally prefer the Contemporary but I also like the Polynesian. I just don't think it's worth the extra cost. You'll have a good time at either resort :).

:rotfl: Sorry about the whiplash effect. ;)
We've been going back and forth about the location for about a month now. I was so geeked when they finally became available.
I feel more comfortable with our decision. I had that niggling that I didn't make the right choice and now, no niggling. :wizard:

Check out my Trip report, the link is in my sig. I have some pics and descriptions of the great time we had at CR. It has become our favorite!

I don't understand why you can't put in a location request.

Wait a couple of days, call back and put in a location request with someone else.
