I had an ultrasound last week and I was told that I have cervical cysts. I've had cramping for quite a few years, and I've let things go. How worried should I be? The Dr's office didn't seem too worried when they called me however the did call first thing in the morning on Monday. They have told me just to keep my appt that I had scheduled for Aug. 25th, should I call and ask to be seen earlier?

Did they give a name for these cysts. I had narbothian (sp????) cysts or something like that. Doc said VERY common and nothing to do be done about it. They are small mucous cysts.

They didn't tell me a name for the cysts, and they did say that these cysts are usually benign. I just have the feeling that doctors offices usually tell people that things that they find are "usually" benign because they don't want you to worry. Maybe, I'm just reading too much into this and worrying about nothing, but I just have a feeling that something is wrong.

Has anyone out there been diagnosed with cancer after initially being told that their cysts are "usually" benign? I imagine the only way they know for sure if it's cancer is to do a biopsy, right?

Well, I had a lump in my thyroid gland and I was told that these things are usually benign. Statistically the doctors were VERY correct on this. I was one of the few that had cancer. So, yeah, it's happened to me.

On the other hand, I've had 4 benign breast cysts that looked "very benign" to the radiologist and surgeon but they insisted on biopsy. They were all benign.

I'm not sure if this makes me feel better or worse, but I hope that everything has turned out ok for you! I wish you the best of health! Thanks for the input.:)

I can not say I have any experience with this, but knowing me, I would make an attempt to get an earlier appointment. I hate 'not' knowing. But, that is me, perhaps not you.

 to you. It is always nervewracking to get these calls.

Let us know how it turns out for you.:flower3:

I had a huge cyst it was 9mm x 12.5 mm x 10 mm, i didnt even know i had it but they found it while doing the test for my gall bladder, I had to have it removed due to its size, so i had both removed (gall baldder & cyst).

If they haven't scheduled you for a biopsy I wouldn't be overly concerned. Like one of the other posters, I too have the small cycts, they come & go with my cycle & can cause VERY uncomfortable cramping. My OB/GYN has never even recommended a biopsy, so quite possibly these are the same type of cycts you have, or something similar. There's nothing to be done for the type I have, & my doc also said they are very common. Let's hope your cycts are something very minor & not a cause for worry.

Hang in there!
