Day 2: Walt Disney World Arrival!
When I left off we were stuck on I-95 in traffic that wasnt moving! I was so mad at this point because we were only 2 hours away and were doing great on time. After realizing the road was closed (it must have been a pretty bad accident) we noticed the left lane was moving slowly because there was a police turn-around just up ahead where people were turning around. After consulting my map and gps I decided we could turn around and take route 1 which met back up with I-95 eventually. So we turned around and got on route 1. There was a ton of road work and I was starting to get impatient! We got back to I-95 where it was traffic free in like 20 mins. Then we stopped at a rest stop because Keith couldnt drive anymore because of his back. Then we were off on the last leg of our trip!
Finally, around 12:30pm we got to Walt Disney World!!!
I followed the signs to Pop Century and it was super easy. Once we pulled in the parking lot I was soooo happy we had finally made it!! It took us so long to get there I think I appreciated it a lot more. It was really surreal to finally be there, I felt like I was dreaming. Sometimes I find that when Im home I am so into Disney world stuff that when I actually get there it doesnt feel real. Does that happen to anyone else? I kinda feel like I felt that way the whole trip, kind of like it wasnt actually happening? Anyway, we got out of the car into the hot hot weather (but so much less hot than normal since we usually go in August). We headed inside to check in! I did online check-in and I was so glad I did because the regular check-in line was so long. The CM that checked us in was really nice but so slow! I just wanted to get to our room! After I asked him where I should park for our building he says, The parking lot. It was weird because it was kind of funny but not at the same time. Afterwards Keith told me he thought the CM was weird lol. So we got our request, 70s ground floor. I figured 70s looked like a decent spot, not too far from the parking lot, food or lake. And Im so lazy that stairs on vacation just are not a good time so I had requested ground floor for that reason. We actually got a corner room with a slight view of the computer pool in the 80s section.
After getting everything into the room, Keith took a nap and I was so happy that I just wanted to unpack and organize stuff. After I did all that I forced myself to lie down and rest since we didnt get much sleep from driving through the night. We slept until about 3:10pm and then I got up and attempted to wake up Keith many times until he finally got up. After getting ready we went to the concierge to add our park tickets to our KTTW cards since I purchased our tickets separately before we left. Then we went to the bus stop and were off to Magic Kingdom!!!
Us waiting for a bus to MK!!
I was so happy to be taking Disney transportation rather than driving. We finally got to the MK a little after 5:00pm. I was so excited to be back in my favorite place! I absolutely love the castle and get really smiley when I see it!
Our first view of the castle!
Since we hadnt eaten since we got to the world we went to Caseys Corner and got hot dogs and fries. Then we took a few pics with the castle!
Then we decided to head over to Adventureland to go on Jungle Cruise. The wait was 50 mins so we got Fastpasses for 6:50-7:50 which was like an hour from then. We headed next door to Pirates which only had a 5 minute wait and did that. I should add that since we come to Disney a lot, we dont feel like we have to do everything and I really just wanted to take everything in on this trip and not worry about how many rides we did. I really just wanted to do some rides I had never done before. After Pirates we went to see Country Bear Jamboree, which we hadnt ever seen before. It was cute but I definitely wont do it again anytime soon. Soon after that our fastpasses were good to ride Jungle Cruise. I love Jungle Cruise because all the corny jokes really make me laugh! I love to watch for peoples reactions who havent done it before because my first time I was seriously cracking up. On my last trip (A trip I took with my best friend in Jan 11) the skipper picked on me the whole ride! I am very shy normally so I didnt really know how to respond to it! Thank god that didnt happen this time!
After that ride we headed over to see the new Storybook Circus section of fantasyland. There wasnt much to see but the area did look nicer than it had before.
We sat on a ledge for a bit to rest and people watch.
Then we walked over to Tomorrowland because I wanted to ride the Peoplemover which is a favorite of mine but it wasnt working for some reason. So instead we did Carousel of Progress since we hadnt done that ever. Once we were done with that I wanted to start looking for a place to watch the nighttime activities but Keith was hungry and wanted chicken. So we found ourselves at Columbia Harbor House so he could get his chicken. Then we went to find a spot because I really wanted to see The Magic the Memories & You in person! I also really wanted to be in front of the castle. We somehow found a space in the hub on the floor right in front of a ledge. Keiths back was hurting again and he was complaining about how long we had to wait. I think when we sat we had like 40 minutes until the parade started. Side note! Anyone else wish SpectroMagic would come back? The music for the Electrical Parade annoys me and I just dont like it that much. I liked Spectro so much better and wish it would come back asap!! Anyway the parade finally came and then we had to wait for The Magic, Memories & You. I loved it!! I think it is really cool. Keith really wanted to leave after this but Wishes is truly my favorite must do of all time & I really wanted to see it from right in front of the castle. So we stayed so I could see it! This was our view the whole night:
After Wishes ended it was like a mob scene like it always is so I steered Keith to the Emporium to look around and hopefully let the crowds pass us by. Well they just kept coming so after browsing and hitting into people every two feet we decided to head to the bus stop. We didnt wait long at all because two busses pulled up so we were back at Pop by 11:00pm. I bought a refillable mug and we headed back to the room to rest for our first full day!!
