So I’ve been reading PTR’s and TR’s for almost two months now since becoming a member/lurker here on DIS and I’ve somewhat decided that I might give this whole thing a whirl myself and attempt a PTR. It may not interest a soul to read about two middle age crazies taking a trip to the World without the children but my intent is geared more towards the premise that I can channel my increasing excitement and constant need to have every discussion revolve around our trip more onto this screen and give the ear of my wonderful DH a bit of a reprieve. I realize the possibility that this is just an illusion of grandeur as my obsession will more than likely just be fueled by this new endeavor but at the very least it will keep me occupied a bit for the next several days and I’ll have a little something recorded to help us remember as our memory is at best a tag team effort of late.

Now that the explanation is out of the way the next order of business would be a proper introduction. We are two of the best friends we’ve ever had. I am the DW who quite frankly is not sure how many ways folks define that acronym but I’ve come to my own conclusion that for me at least it cannot mean “dishwasher” cause that is my all time least favorite thing to do but alas being the “domestic wonder” that I am I do accomplish that task quite often. Anyway as stated I’m the DW who by the time we travel will have very recently turned 49 years young…(as a side note we are leaving on our youngest child’s 19th birthday now don’t we sound like just the greatest parents ever! Especially since as I was typing this I was humming to myself “it’s my party…and she can cry if she wants too.) Seriously this is not our first trip to Disney the other 2 times the children were included and the first time I was a child so this fourth trip is all about us and we feel no guilt.

As for the Us in this Just the Two that would include the DH or as I affectionately call him “The Big Guy” who in March will edge just over the 50 mark and just recently retired from 25 years in Law Enforcement so with my birthday, our anniversary and his birthday in March and the aforementioned retirement and finally some real good time alone we are ready to celebrate!

I can’t think of any place I would rather go than Disney World! My dearest DH is excited but let’s just say he is doing it more for me and I love those times when it’s all about me.

So before I make this first installment a novel I will cease for a moment and let those who dare to stop by catch their breath. If you do decide to continue as we journey feel free to interrupt me at anytime with questions or comments cause my next favorite thing next to my DH and Disney World is CONVERSATION and as you can see I am a bit wordy.

So until the next post when I will more than likely just talk more about Just the Two of Us Ya’ll be Sweet and Come Back now Ya Here! We’ll Be Back Real Soon with the when, where and whatevers.

Ok so the When is February 11, 2011 through February 20th and the where well.. We are…wait for it….for the first time staying on-site at Port Orleans Riverside! Yessirree bud! We are Southern born and Southern bred so we figured it might be a good idea to start of with sort of familiar surroundings. The Big Guy loves big ponds and I’ve always wanted to live in a mansion so here’s hoping for the best of both worlds but we can be satisfied even with the Bayou. (Not so much the gator part)

Dang it’s been a long dream to go back to Disney World at least for me. The last time we were there was about 11 years ago. That was the year we were married so since this was his first and my only real marriage we took a short version honeymoon right after the wedding (girls included) and then in the heat of July my two girls and I took him to Disney for his first ever visit. He says it all seems like a blur to him now but he remembers the “commando” approach I took and so this time we are slowing way down…because first of all we are staying more days…Yeah and second of all we’ll were are a bit older and did I mention it will be Just the Two of Us.

Oh and by the way we realize now how long our screen name can be to re-type so I have been dubbed “Cary” by a poster here on DIS and I am so glad that was a reference to us being from SC and not some sort of Southern stereotypical joke with reference to those in the South not having good dental hygiene. By the way that is mostly a myth but it sticks in my head because when I was out in ND attending Minot Univ. a student once gave a speech on the ill’s of southerners and he stated “they” ALL had no teeth and just sat on fish banks fishing. I owe a real debt of gratitude to that young naïve boy because until that day I had no earthly idea a topic for my
upcoming speech. Remember not all you see on television after a tornado is a fair representation of the majority of us Southerners and I’ve lived here all my life and never been to a NASCAR race. As for fishing and fish banks well if the name Bill Dance rings a bell with you then you know that pass-time can be very lucrative. We are admittedly “Country folks” just plain and simple and the Big Guy well he borders on the “redneck” fringe but it is just part of our charm. We really don’t mind what folks call us as long as we can learn to call each other friends.

Actually my real name is Donna Sue just about as Southern a name as a mama can hang on a girl! The Big Guy is known by all as simply “Bilo” a nickname and personality that he acquired long before we knew each other and it has made him quite an icon in our small town. When I address him personally I call him simply Ken. We usually answer to most anything we’re called. The children and I have 3 have all wandered from the nest. 2 having graduated college and the last just beginning her first year they call me Mom (that’s my favorite) and the girls my middle and my last child they call The Big Guy “OD” for Other Dad.

So you can call me Cary or you can call me Donna or you can choose your own just don’t call us much that week in February! The Big Guy and I we’re just hoping you call on us as you find some extra time to sit a spell, kick yur shoes off and chew the fat with us a while….we’ve got about 38 more days before we hit the road and travel a little farther south. If you stay tuned we might even share what we think we might eat. Suffice it to say that if it’s still the Big Guy will eat it and if it’s fried I’ll at least try it (unless it was bagged from the road…just another myth I’d thought I’d dispel right quick) And just in case you was wondering about the speech topic mentioned above the title was “How to correctly extract toothpaste from the tube”

I'm here!!!! Ok so where abouts in South Carolina are you located? Just curious, my brother just moved from good ol' MIchigan down to North Carolina. Not that NC and SC are the same, but I was just wondering.

I find it funny we are going the exact same time and staying at the same resort.

I am looking forward to following this wonderful PTR as I get so excited about my trip as well.

Oh and by the way I started my PTR to help alleviate the reoccurance of my rants and crazies to my DH, and well it didn't help I now talk to him about all the wonderful people I have met on here as well as all the other details.

Well welcome and thanks for stopping by for a comment!

We are from Chesterfield SC.

Yeah it is kind of funny...such a small world.

I am looking forward to following this wonderful PTR as I get so excited about my trip as well.

I hope you find you're time here enjoyable. I have certainly had a great time reading about you and yours and by the way you have a beautiful family.

Yeah writing mine hasn't helped me either but hey it does pass the time.
Thanks again for reading.

February 11, 2011 depart from South Carolina around 6AM with arrival at WDW around 1PM hopefully earlier if I can aggravate DH into leaving earlier. I never sleep any the night before vacation so I’m sure by morning he’ll be happy to get on the road and get me out of the house.

The rest of the week plans are not written in stone because well it's Just the Two of Us so we can do whatever we please whenever we like. But for the sake of my sanity I did make a tentative plan. I must warn anyone who follows an efficient touring plan please read with caution. I seem to have selected all the wrong days to go to each park but hey we can always change our minds. We have never experienced EMH so we thought we take a risk just for the sake of saying,” been there done that!”

So this is the “plan”:

Feb. 11 Epcot PM
Feb. 12 DHS AM
Feb. 13 MK PM
Feb. 14 AK AM and DHS PM
Feb. 15 Epcot AM
Feb. 16 MK AM and AK PM
Feb. 17 MK AM and Epcot PM
Feb. 18 Haven't decided
Feb. 19 DHS
Feb. 20 Depart (may spend some time in parks before leaving)

And for our dining pleasure the ADR’s we have arranged are as follows:

LaHacienda
Ohana’s
Boma 2x’s
Hollywood & Vine
1900 Park Fare
Whispering Canyon
Le Cellier’s
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Thinking of adding Boatwright’s for possibly our last night. All of these will be new for us since we always went with CS meals on our previous trips. The excitement just keeps on growing day by day. We are looking forward doing all the things we’ve never done.

The only sad part of going for me is I will be leaving my best friend for the first time. I will share a picture so you'll know the face I'll be saying goodbye to not an easy task! :sad2: And on that sad note I will practice by saying goodbye till next time!

Last year we planned on taking our Disney trip but were encouraged to cruise instead so I thought since we are as of yet faceless I would share a couple of photos of ourselves from last year. Then as time permits I may even drag out the old Disney photo and show you the way we were!

Any way introducing:

The Fun and the Serious

It's all about Just the Two of Us.

Yep almost 11 years married and each about a half a century old..Retired and living the dreams!

Thanks for sharing pics it's always nice to have a face to match with the name!! Your schedule looks fun, some good restuarants in there too. I remember when Dh and I went on our first trip and didn't have to stick to the itinerary. Now with 4 kiddos the more of a plan we have the better, but I do have to remind myself that I HAVE to be flexible.

Awww, where is your doggy going to stay while the two of you are on your trip? With friends or family or in a kenel. I hear the kenels are a lot better than they used to be, they get play and exercise time in daily.

How are the cruises? I have been debating on whether or not to save up for a cruise or disneyworld. I want to take some family members with me who will find being out in the park all day a bit wearing on their body so I was thinking a cruise is more relaxing. What kinda of festivities did the two of you enjoy while on the cruise?

WOW I have only one week left and just remembered this poor PTR unkept and neglected. Seriously though the last month could not have been longer but it certainly was not uneventful. Everything in the house and outside the house decided to break including the husband and the dog.

We weathered the snow and ice storms by getting stuck once and without power just one day but after the snow all #** broke loose around here. The satellite, the washing machine twice leading to a new washer purchase. Both vehicles decided to need repairs...and then as if that wasn't enough both my husband and I suffered through approximately two weeks of enjoying the flu together. After all that my dear husband woke up one morning to excruciating pain shooting down his leg and has been on about 6 differents meds since then. The next day the dog was limping so a trip to the vet was in order. Now both of the guys in the family are on pain meds and well I REALLY NEED THIS VACATION NOW!!!!!

We have done absolutely no packing nor preparing except for making a reservation at the kennel for the dog...but hey I've got the next four days!

Tomorrow I shall turn 49 and I'm looking forward to it because the last few days I've felt about 100! I think it's all these "old" men around me who are falling apart.

Anyway a big thank you to my two readers and I apologize for not responding for so long..just as you can see kind of busy...life happens...but next Friday I'm taking a break from life and just gonna LIVE the fantasy.

CAN"T WAIT!
