Just the four of us...and several thousand other people (a spring break TR) ~ DONE!

Love the family picture in front of the tree! I think you were a great mommy to wait in the line. It is hard to do that, but it was a great teaching moment for him. He probably won't want to wait in any other long lines. =)

Love the Tree of Life! No matter how many times we see it, we find different animals. It is truly a piece of art! On our last trip we waited 70 minutes for Soarin". We had just arrived and went directly to EPCOT at about 2 pm so all of the fastpasses were gone. So we waited:rolleyes: and we waited and we waited! It's my favorite ride but there were many times when I thought about giving up. Good for you for hanging in for Alexander!

I really love all of your pictures with the characters at AK. I have never seen Thumper and Miss Bunny. They are really cute. I also have to agree that Chip and Dale seem to really interact with everyone. When my DD was little, they took her one day and passed her back and forth between the two of them for what seemed to be about five minutes. Lots and lots of hugs.

This is one of the reasons I can't wait to return with DS's girlfriend's little boy. It will be so fun to see all of the character interaction with a little one again. Can't wait to hear more of your report.

Love your day at AK. You got to see lots of characters! :thumbsup2

I love EE---it's a favorite of mine, but the going backwards part messes up my perception of things. I feel almost as if I'm going upside down. Really weird! :confused3

Ah, the things we do for our kids. :)Alexander doesn't usually like waiting in long lines but he really wanted to ride Test Track so we really had no other choice.

I still find new animals in the Tree of Life too. It's so beautiful! You're right about it being a piece of art.

I think I would have been happier waiting for Soarin'. The queue is just so stinkin' loud for Test Track.

That's funny about Chip and Dale and your daughter. I bet she loved that!

You may have mentioned this but how old is your DS's girlfriend's little boy? We've been when Alexander was 5, 6, 8 and 9 and with Mia at 14 months and now 2. I think the best age was when Alexander was 5. He was old enough to know all the characters and not be afraid of them but young enough to believe in all the magic. I can't wait to take Mia back around that age.

We always try to see as many characters as possible. Unfortunately Alexander won't wait to see some of them like he used to.

It must be the going backwards on EE that makes me dizzy. I love it though and will have to ride it on every trip.

Sheesh, I got so far behind! We WERE in the same park at the same time. :lmao: Great updates!

At this point Mia was getting a little antsy so Dave took her to find some popcorn.

I'm thinking I could finally fill my own personal popcorn quota if I could just travel with Mia. That's a girl after my own heart. :thumbsup2

I was about ready to beg and plead that we do something else, but this evening was for him so we waited in that long, horrible line. I hate the queue for Test Track. It's just incredibly loud and annoying.

I feel the same way. I avoid it like the plague.

After the ride I asked Alexander if the wait had been worth it. He said no and I agreed.

Some things we just have to learn from experience, Alexander. ;)

Sorry I haven't posted any updates in a while. Life has just been busy and we got a new puppy yesterday which has required a lot of work, more than I remember with a dog. But she's a sweetie and the kids love her. I'll try to get a new update in this weekend.

Amazing that we were there at the same time, huh?

LOL, she did love it. It was also great bribery for staying in the stroller.

I feel the same way. I avoid it like the plague.

I've never had to experience it before. I've only ever ridden it with fastpasses.

Some things we just have to learn from experience, Alexander. ;)

LOL, so true!

Hello there!! :wave2: Loving your report...my DS9 and I were at Epcot the same day as you guys were! Your pictures are awesome! The weather was great that week, wasn't it? We had a great trip and it looks like you guys did too! :goodvibes

So when I last left you Alexander and I had waited in a hideously long line for Test Track that was not worth the wait from our point of view. By then we were both pretty hungry. Since we were right beside Electric Umbrella we decided to stop there to eat. I know, I know, with all the wonderful places in Epcot to eat why stop at a burger place. Well, two reasons. It was close and Alexander is picky. I would have liked something else but this was it for us.

I got the bacon double cheeseburger with strawberry cheesecake and Alexander got chicken nuggets. He liked his but my burger was just blah again. I couldn't eat very much of the cheesecake because it was just gross.

After our less than stellar dinner we went to Mouse Gears and braved the funky smell they've got going on in there. Alexander bought a Mickey Luke Skywalker toy and I got some of those Mickey Mouse family vinyl stickers for our Expedition.

We decided it was then time to head to World Showcase. First we stopped for some photopass pics.

Not sure what was up with Alexander's crooked head pose but he did that in all the pictures we had made here.

A picture before heading to World Showcase.

Some large turtles in the water I've never noticed before.

We took the ferry to get to World Showcase, something we've never done before. Our first stop was France. As we were walking up to France we saw Sleeping Beauty but there was no way we were going to see her. Alexander has zero interest in seeing any princesses.

We had hopes of seeing Marie in France. Now let me tell you this. It's true that Alexander isn't interested in anything remotely girly. He won't see the princesses, he won't even see Lilo. Minnie and Daisy are okay with him because they are more classic Disney. But my boy is in love with Marie. She is about as girly as it gets but he doesn't care. He collects Marie pins and still loves Aristocats. So it was a big goal of ours to see Marie. So it was great luck that just as we arrived in France out came Marie. He would have pushed any kid down just to get to her. Okay, not really but he was excited!

There were only a few people in line in front of us and Alexander was as giddy as could be while we waited. Finally it was our turn and Alexander ran up to Marie and gave her a big hug.
P1100824.jpg

Here's a little story from 3 years ago which was the first time we met Marie. We had just seen Miyuki (the candy lady) in Japan. Alexander had a cute little giraffe made. He was so proud of it but absolutely insisted on carrying it, even though we told him that was a bad idea. Now what do you think is going to happen with a 6 year old carrying an extremely fragile piece of candy art? He dropped it of course and it shattered into many pieces.:headache: He was devastated and so were we. He literally had it less than 5 minutes. He was a crying mess and there was nothing we could do to console him. We tried to make him feel better but nothing was working. For some reason we were walking towards France at the time and who do we see - Marie! Alexander had been hoping that he would get to meet her and here she was right at the perfect time. We dried the tears as best as we could and he ran up to her just like he did this time. He was wearing his lanyard with his Marie pins and had a fun time pointing out each one to her. She would clap and jump up and down. It was a wonderful moment for Alexander and she was probably the only thing to bring him out of his sadness for dropping the giraffe. Needless to say, we all love Marie! :lovestruc

Okay, back to 2010. Alexander got Marie's autograph and took some more pictures and we moved on.

We spotted this photopass spot and took some pictures.

Alexander did the kidcot stops in France and Morocco and we went to Japan to get a pearl. I am making a charm bracelet for Mia when she gets older and have decided to always get a pearl for it on every trip we take. I let Alexander choose the oyster and told him that I had heard that you should choose the ugliest, hairiest oyster to get the prettiest pearl. He liked picking one out and I have to say that it was pretty ugly.

I just love all the enthusiasm the cast members have who work in Japan at pick-a-pearl. They have to be the nicest people in the world. They make such a show out of everyone's pearls and make you feel like you have just chosen the best pearl ever. They asked Alexander if the pearl was for me but he said no it was for his sister. Apparently that was a very nice thing he was doing for his sister.

Here is the lady who opened our pearl. You can just see the enthusiasm on her face.
P1100830.jpg

The pearl Alexander chose was a 7 1/2 mm. Last year we got a 7 mm pearl. I chose a charm with a shoe on it because Mia just loves shoes. I got her some of those plastic princess dress up shoes for her birthday and she loves them. She walks around like a real princess in them too. :goodvibes

We had to wait about 20 minutes until our pearl was ready to be picked up so we went to the kidcot stops in Japan, America, and Italy while we waited. We also saw many photo opportunities.
P1100832.jpg

Alexander made me wait until this duck was right in front of him before I took this picture.

P1100836.jpg

Alexander said here he was trying to look like a dog. Silly boy.

P1100840.jpg

We backtracked to pick up the pearl and then went back to Germany. We spent some time looking at the mini village. Alexander just loves this and we always have to stop and watch the trains.
P1100841.jpg

Look closely, there's a giant bunny attacking the small German village.
P1100845.jpg

Then we finished up the remaining kidcot stops that Alexander needed for his mask. We had a little bit of time before the park closed so we thought we'd ride Maelstrom. We've never done it before so I really didn't know what to expect. It was a good thing I wasn't expecting too much. It was alright but seriously, people get fastpasses for this? I'd ride it again just because it's there, but I wouldn't wait in a long line for it.

It was getting close to the time for Illuminations and I asked Alexander if he wanted to watch it and he said no. Either way was okay with me so we started to head out of the park.

We stopped for these pictures which I love.
Image0169.jpg

Before we left we decided to ride Spaceship Earth. We had a fun time on it and I let Alexander pick our future. I took some pictures of our future but don't worry, I did not use the flash. We both made crazy faces when we took our picture. Alexander did the crooked head thing again.

P1100853.jpg

We exited the ride and I emailed a postcard to myself from the future.

When we were on the bus going back to CBR we saw fireworks from both Epcot and MK. They were beautiful!

When we got back to the room Mia was already asleep. Dave told me that they had spent the evening strolling around the paths, going to the marina, and played on the beach. He said he also had a burger for dinner. Apparently his was better than mine. They ate outside of Old Port Royale and had plenty of birds all around them. At one point he said that all the birds were lined up side by side just staring at Mia. She didn't like that at all. I guess she was afraid they were going to fly at her and steal her food. After their dinner they went to the room and watched some cartoons and Mia fell asleep. It sounded like they both had a pleasant and relaxing evening, which is probably what they both needed.

Up next: Back to Hollywood Studios and our first time to ride Toy Story Mania:woohoo:

Oh that's cool! I wonder if you did some of the same things that we did. If you see yourself in the background of any of the pictures be sure to let me know!

Can't wait for the rest:)
Thanks! I'll try to be better about updating more often.

AAAAWWWWW!!!! A puppy!! Post a picture.
Here's our little girl Sasha with the kids. She called a "chiweenie" - half chihuahua, half dachshund. She is the best dog I have ever been around. She never barks unless she wants to play and she's so loving. I'm so happy we decided to adopt her.

Your evening with Alexander in EPCOT sounds wonderful! How great to spend some one-on-one time! :)

I love the idea of getting a pearl each time you visit for Mia. That's a great idea.

What a great mother/son evening in Epcot. Love the story about Marie and the pic at the fountain :thumbsup2

Beautiful pics of you and your son! I am taking my youngest son, 7, to WDW in Oct and I am looking forward to moments like that!

I woke up to the sound of a ringing phone at 6:45 am. I got around then woke the boys up. Alexander went in the bathroom to do his thing then came out of the bathroom with a tooth in his hand. I was a little shocked. He had told me the day before that his tooth was loose but I had no idea that he was actually going to pull it.

So we left for Hollywood Studios at 8:15 with a new smile for Alexander and made it there about 10 minutes before rope drop. We followed the incredibly large crowd to Toy Story Mania.

P1100856.jpg

This was our first time riding it and we were all pretty excited. It's always nice for the four of us to be able to all ride on a ride too without having to do the rider swap.

The wait time already said 30 minutes but it was really more like 10 minutes.

The queue was so interesting and probably one of the best anywhere.
P1100860.jpg

P1100865.jpg

We got our 3D glasses and as you can see from this picture I was more concerned about Mia tearing them up or dropping them than posing with a smile.
P1100869.jpg

You will also notice that I have several pairs in my hands as well as a pair on my head. That's because I had picked up some for Dave, myself, and Mia and Dave apparently had the same idea and we wound up with too many. I'm not sure what we did with all of the during the ride. Maybe Dave took them.

We loaded on the ride with Dave and Alexander riding together and Mia and I riding together. When the ride first started going Mia would shout "whee" every time we spun around. I was having a great time and started to get the hang of shooting when Mia decided to try to climb out of her seat and onto my lap. I pushed her back into her seat but she wasn't happy about not being able to sit in mommy's lap. I thought for sure the ride was going to be stopped and ruined for everyone because of Mia's antics. That fortunately didn't happen and we all finished the ride.

I wound up making a score of 74,000 which I know would have been a lot higher if I didn't have a toddler to control. I still beat Dave and Alexander's scores. I'm not sure exactly what they did score.

After our ride we did the unthinkable and did not get fastpasses. The fastpass return time was up at 12-1 already and we had other things we still wanted to do.

We decided to stop by Starring Rolls for a little breakfast. We got a couple pastries and some drinks to share. While everyone else sat at a table and ate I went to get fastpasses for Rock n Rollercoaster. When I got back everyone had already eaten all the pastries and didn't save me anything. Thanks a lot family! Dave said it's because I usually don't eat breakfast. Yeah, but I also usually don't have a chocolate croissant available to eat for breakfast either. Oh well, I could have gotten another one but decided not to.

After their breakfast we did a little shopping and Dave bought a Mickey watch. It's so unlike Dave to buy anything with Mickey or Disney on it so I was surprised that he wanted one. He still wears it too.

More to come later.

It really did turn out to be a great evening and I'm so happy we did it.

My sister got the idea about getting a pearl on each trip from someone here on the Dis and told me about it. I loved the idea and thought it would be perfect for Mia. Thanks Diser whoever you are! :)

Oh you are going to have so much fun!

Nice update. You deserved the evening out with your son!;)
Thanks!

So glad you all enjoyed TSM---It's one of our favorites!

The breakfast thing sounds like something my bunch would do and say!

I agree with you about the queue at TSM. We waited a very long time last year but had some fun looking at all the toys. (Long story. Don't ask!) Leaving you no breakfast while you did all the running around:confused3. Sounds like something my family might do!
