So we are going to WDW in October. We will be there Friday - Tuesday. This time around we are renting DVC points at AKL with a savannah view room. This will be our 4th trip to WDW overall. One thing that I always regret is that I am so scared to miss out on something at the parks that we go to the parks from open to close every single day and never enjoy our resort. Once time we were there for 9 days and we went to the park all 9 days every day, all day! The last time we went we said the next time we go we really want to enjoy being in the resort and take advantage at some of the events that are offered and enjoy the pool. This will be our first time at AKL as well.

So what my question is, how many park tickets should I buy? We really want to see and enjoy Pandora (another major reason we are going this year) and we know that we want to do the Mickey Not So Scary party. Epcot is our favorite park so we know that we want to go there as well. We usually end up spending a few days at Magic Kingdom so I feel we have done almost everything there with the exception of the parties. With that being said, the kids adore MK.

My original plan was to just buy 2 park tickets 1 day for Epcot and 1 Day for AKL and then buy party tickets and just enter when we can with that. Originally my hubby agreed and we said we wanted the rest of the time at the resort. Now we are both feeling a little sad and worried that we will want more park time and end up spending more money to buy tickets after we are there. At the same time I am afraid that if we buy tix for every day we are there that we will go back to our usual and spend all of our time in the parks and not enjoy the resort at all and feel exhausted from our vacation when we get back.

So, please somebody just make my decision for me (LOL) and tell me what you would do and how many park day tickets I should buy.

First, the bold is not possible. No matter when you get extra days on your tickets, it will cost the same.

That said I'd go with at 4 days of tickets, plus the party.

I go with 3, plus party. I'd do two days at Epcot, one at AK, and enjoy the party at MK. This gives you down time to rest a bit...or explore! Mini golf, resort exploration, Disney Springs, swimming.

With that you have 3 1/2 days of Park time, but enough time to recharge your batteries.

What time are you arriving on Friday? Spend the first day there hanging out at the resort, grab a bite at Sanaa or Boma for dinner and hit up the pool. Spend Saturday in Animal Kingdom, Sunday in Epcot and then Monday in Magic Kingdom and hit the party that night. Then Tuesday you can swim more and chill at the resort as well.

If you arrive early on Friday and leave late Tuesday, there is plenty of time to enjoy the resort.

We have a 5 day trip coming up. I bought 4 days of tickets, and will get one party night. We arrive late on a Tuesday, 2 full park days, a morning of leisurely breakfast/pool time followed by a party night, then two park days, and fly home Monday afternoon.

I don't think you can ever go wrong with more park days! You didn't mention your arrival/departure time nor how old your kids are. Older kids (probably over 9) can handle a full day at the parks whereas younger kids will get hungry or tired. AKL is an amazing resort so you certainly do want to plan a bit of resort time -- maybe it is a day where you do MK in the morning - resort - then return for the evening party.

I voted 4 park days - this is assuming you are arriving fairly early on your arrival day. If you arrive early Friday- before noon- then hit AK -- you are close by and you can stay until close. The videos of Pandora at night look amazing!! Saturday i would think MK might be better because food and wine is going on and Epcot might actually be busier. Save Epcot for Sunday, Then Monday - morning at the resort - MK early afternoon then your party. I guess it depends on what day the party is on.

there are a lot of variables. If you really want a resort day then plan for 3 park days and party -- It is such a tough decision because you really want to make the most of your time there, but the AK resort has a lot to offer too.

I'll be a dissenting voice. We like to buy tickets for every day of our trip. But that does not mean that we spend the whole day in the park. Some days, we just spend a couple of hours in the park, and the rest of the day doing something else. Just because you have a park ticket doesn't mean you need to go from open to close to the park. It might be fun for you to just go to dinner and a parade, or just a couple rides in the afternoon, breakfast in the park then the rest of the day at the resort, or whatever. We do feel weird and sad if we are at WDW and not in the park for at least part of the day.
