Just stayed at Yacht Club... Bay Lake is SOOO Much Better

We stayed at BCV and BLT last November. I was super jazzed up about BCV after reading everything here. It was great to have SAB and being able to walk to Epcot. It was fine, but I really did not like the room layout at all (we had a 1BR). I felt it was very cramped, particularly if we had the sofa bed pulled out for my DS. Maybe it wasn't necessarily cramped but I just felt like the flow of the room was off or something. When we moved to BLT, it was SOOOO much better. I know - it does help having the second bathroom, but even without that, the room was so much more spacious in the living area as well as the bedroom.

I'd still go back to BCV but more for having SAB, Cape May, and the convenience of Epcot. We unfortunately did not get to go over to the Boardwalk area b/c of my DS not feeling well for that portion of the trip.

GL!

The 1 and 2-brs at BLT may be a bit more spacious, but the studios there are much more cramped that the studios at BCV or other DVC resorts. We usually stay in studios so that's where part of my personal assessment of the DVCs are based on.

Both are in the upper echelon for me;)...if only they had put in a shared SAB type poolscape for BLT & CR, i'd have added on there in a flash.

I give the nod to BLT, location, location, location and MK view if I'm lucky!

I didn't want to stir trouble... :)

There is something about walking over to MK that has my heart.

My biggest complaint about YC was the bus system. It was terrible. We waited 20-30 minutes each time then had to wait as we went to other stops. Just took a long time.

However, the big plus to YC was on the night Epcot was open til 12am for EMH my buddy and I grabbed some drinks and fired up a cigar at about 12am in Future World. They let us stay in there until 2am. I am a nerd but the sound track there is just awesome.

Being in the park when they finally turned the music off was crazy.

Saying one resort is better than another resort can be like waving a red flag in front of the bull. All of the resorts are fantastic. There is enough variety in the accommodations and experiences for DVC members to choose from to satisfy any member. What may be a great resort for one visit may not be that great for another. For example a large family gathering will do well at a Grand Villa in OKW or a Tree House Villa in SSR. However the same DVC member may choose a studio in SSR for a romantic getaway. That doesn't mean SSR is better than OKW or vice versa. I just picked those two resorts as a quick example. This was not meant to slight any of the other wonderful DVC resort options. Yes grasshopper, choose your words carefully.

We just stayed at BC in Feb. and bought points at BLT while there (but have never stayed there yet!) I agree that a split stay between these two would be best of all worlds. I could not believe how great it was to walk to Epcot! I guess I had always thought it would be more of a hike?! Is the "walk" to MK from BLT a similar distance? I did find the busses for everywhere else from BC to be a royal pain however. I could not believe how long we waited and how there are all those other stops on that loop! I think the transportation ease of MK and Epcot are a big part of the reason these are our fave parks. Getting to a park quickly? Priceless.

To each their own, but I find BLT to be much more relaxing and serene.

+1 - I agree 100%.

I don't understand when people say BLT doesn't have any "character", it has plenty it is just different that YC and BC.
