I'm just starting my kids on pin trading so this is all new to me. My question is - What constitutes a tradable pin? Where does the pin have to be bought or what does it have to say on it? My MIL bought my kids a bunch of pins from eBay and they are packaged in a ProPin package (from Germany) or plain plastic. They all have the Disney copyright on the back. They are all of the regular characters - Minnie, Mickey, Mulan etc... Can these be traded or will get thrown out of the park :p

Hi and welcome to trading! I'm pretty new myself, but I wanted to give you a little info until some of the "regulars" post their info. (They are great on this board, and so are the moderators.)

Anything with the Disney stamp on the back is tradable. I've even seen it said that as long as the pin is of something Disney, it's tradable. The best resource is the FAQ thread at the top of the page.

If you go to PinPics.com, you can do a search for the pins and get the "pin number", which everyone uses for reference, and you can look up the background on the pin.

Hope this helps a little, and have fun trading!

Sounds like you've got some perfectly tradeable pins. :) For some "official" information, check out the Official Disney Pin Trading Site for info.. www.disney.go.com/eventservices
There's links to events, pins, and "what is pin trading", tells you about etiquette and such too.

When in doubt, though, feel free to ask! Most of the folks here are more than happy to help you out.

Welcome!

Ashley

Hi DisFam4 - Welcome to the Collectors Board!!!!

Looks like you have some good advive here already. If you havent checked out the Collectors Board FAQ page, you can click right HERE . There are some good topics here, as well as some good pin info sites listed, such as Dizpins and Dizneypins. Check those sites out for the latest information.

Just about any pin is tradeable, as long as Disney is printed on the back, and as long as it is a metallic pin.

I know when appraoching a CM to trade I pin, I always ask if I can look at their pins when I come up to him/her, and I always let the CM hold the lanyard so that you can view the pins. If you make a trade, take the pin off of your lanyard or book, and put the back on the pin so that you don't stick the CM when you make your trade (They will do this also.) And I always thank the CM, even if I don't make a trade with them.

Hope that helps!!!!

Thanks Everyone for the help. I purchased a bunch of Disney's own pins for them and I just wanted to make sure that the other ones are OK to trade. The ones from Disney seem a little bigger, but the ProPins have some very nice ones as well. I know the kids will have a blast. I took 15 pins for myself that I will probably trade. The good thing for us right now is that we have no idea what is LE or cheap and the kids and I will just trade for ones that we really like and have a blast doing it. We will stick strictly to CM's for trading for now though.
Thanks again,
Ron
