Just Slap a Band-Aid on it and Everything Will be Fine! 2025 Food and Wine Trip Report! (Updated 1/3!!)

Day 4, Part 2: Trying More Food and Wine Food!

We last left off heading to the Land to use our LL.

Now, this LL I thought was going to be kinda useless, but it turns out it was needed this day! I’m sure you’ve guessed it, the LL was for LWTL. The standby line was massive, extending outside of the queue. I have no idea why it was so long, but thankfully we had LL for it!

There was a short LL line, and we ended up waiting about 10 minutes, but much better than the standby! I’m torn between being super confused why LWTL suddenly seems so popular and thrilled that it’s getting love so hopefully Disney doesn’t get rid of it!

On the way out I bought another one of the plant cultures. I’ve had mixed results with these, like my rose is doing amazing, but everything else has died. Spoiler - this new one ended up dying as well.

Here’s a picture of the rose I got there, even the CM at the plant stand was surprised at how well it was doing! :rotfl2:

By the time we wrapped up shopping, it was just before 11, so time for food booths! We made our way out and over to our first food booth of the day.

We made our way over to Harvest Hallow where I had mom save a table while I ran to get food.

My first stop was Bramblewood Bites where I got the pork and ordered the trout for my mom. While I was only third in line, this ended up taking FOREVER since they had just started cooking the trout. It ended up taking over 20 minutes for the trout to be ready. During that time a bunch of people who ordered the trout switched their order to the pork since the wait was taking so long. I toughed it out though!

There was one really annoying man there who ordered after me, but then went and stood directly in front of me to get the fish first. Everyone else formed a line based on when they ordered, but I guess this guy thought he was special. :rolleyes2

Once the trout was finally done, I brought our goodies to the table my mom was waiting at, that she was now sharing with another group.

Before eating, I decided to run over to Milled and Mulled since it was right there to grab the carrot cake for my mom and the Maple Harvest Cider for myself. I was a bit perturbed after getting in line, the jerk who cut me for the trout, came and got behind me in line here too, AND immediate pushed his way in front of me!

I may have gotten a bit mad and called him out, and he was all “oh, I wasn’t cutting, I just wanted to get closer!” Um what?!?! I just glared at him until he got back behind me. Seriously, some people!

Anyways, soon I had my drink and carrot cake in hand and made my way back to my mom.

The pork was really good, and the trout was AMAZING! The trout ended up being one of my favorite items at this years fest! It was a lot like salmon, and I love salmon, so that’s probably why.

My mom loved the carrot cake, but I thought it was too sweet, and the drink was ok, but had a very artificial taste to it so I wasn’t the biggest fan.

After finishing all that up, we were still a bit hungry, and there was one more booth in that area we wanted to try, so I had mom stay at the table while I ran over to Forrest and Field to get the pumpkin ravioli and the chocolate peanut butter stout.

Both the ravioli and the stout were delicious!

Once we finished eating, we started to make our way out for our midday break.

On the way we stopped by the Joffery’s in Canada to get the crème brulee cold brew. This was so yummy!

We then made our way out and back to the YC.

Next up: Off to MNSSHP!

Day 4, Part 3: Off to MNSSHP!

We last left off heading back to the YC from Epcot.

Once there, mom took a nap, and I went outside to enjoy some of my grapefruit beer and catch up on trip notes.

PXL_20250923_165837273.jpg

The view was amazing, but the humidity was not, so after a few minutes I gave up being outside and made my way back into the air conditioning!

We ended up resting for a few hours before it was time to get ready for our next adventure, MNSSHP!

Around 2:20 I called for a Minnie Van, and got one immediately so we made our way downstairs to meet our driver.

We ended up pulling into the MK at 2:50. Once there, we made our way to the non-party entrance to scan in.

Being us, we of course stopped for a few pictures once in!

After our photoshoot, we popped into the Emporium to browse. I didn’t see anything I wanted, but mom found some sunglasses she ended up buying.

By the time we were done shopping, it was time for our LL at Pirates, so we made our way over there.

Once off, it was about 3:30 so we decided to go get in line for the in-park wristband distribution.

Now, being so early, I figured we’d be some of the first, in past parties we’ve arrived at the distribution area at like 3:50 and only had like a dozen or so people ahead of us, so we were shocked when we went to the one at Tortuga Tavern to see a massive line! It snaked through the entire building and extended out on the path all the way back to the Golden Oak Outpost! 😲

What on earth?!? We debated finding another one, but since our dinner reservation was just after 4 and was super close, we didn’t want to run to the other side of the park, so we got in line.

Shortly after getting in line, this guy got in line behind us who we started chatting with, and he was nice enough until he brought up the new DAS rules. Turns out his wife used to get DAS no problem, but with the new rules she was denied, and they were for real struggling to make this trip work without having it. Honestly, based on the stuff he was telling us about his wife, I’m shocked and saddened that Disney didn’t provide her DAS. Like we got denied too and were mad since we had been approved under the new rules already, but we were mad that it clearly depends on the CM you speak with which just seems so wrong. But this guy had far more reasons to be angry, and boy was he angry! He got so worked up to the point he was yelling and cursing about it! Definitely made for a slightly uncomfortable wait! Fortunately, they did start giving out wristbands early at about 3:50! It took about 15 minutes after they started the distribution to finally get up to the front and get ours.

I’m glad they opened early since our dinner reservation was at 4:15! So after getting our wristbands, we quickly made our way over to Skipper Canteen for dinner!

Next up: Skipper Canteen!

We were surprised at how long the line was for LWTL last December. But September shouldn't have a long line.
the trout was AMAZING! The trout ended up being one of my favorite items at this years fest!
The trout sounds really good. I need another trip back in September. :)
The view was amazing, but the humidity was not, so after a few minutes I gave up being outside and made my way back into the air conditioning!
Our trip overlapped yours and it was extremely hot. We have been on June and August trips that weren't that hot.
We ended up pulling into the MK at 2:50. Once there, we made our way to the non-party entrance to scan in.
I'm glad that they made a big waiting area for the party guests at the entrance. They used to just mill around in a mass of people, making it hard for non-party guests to enter.

Have to say I am a tad jealous that you had nice weather for the party. I had rain,, a LOT of rain, and missed the Headless Horseman in the parade because the ground was still to wet.

I had the pork and hated it. It was fatty and very tough to chew plus a bit to pink for me. I think part of the problem was that I refused the first plate. I have a severe seafood allergy and am still learning to negotiate it. They had to make the plate when I ordered, and they were so busy chatting that they placed it right next to the trout on the same serving area rather than handing it right over. I refused it because I have a reaction if my food touches seafood, learned that the hard way. I mentioned the allergy to begin with to make sure my food was separated. I did make a complaint at guest services. Disney is usually extremely good about dealing with food allergies, so I was a bit upset that the CM's got angry about my asking for a new plate.

I do agree that the raviolis were good, so good that I got them again before I went home. The carrot cake can be very sweet, so I skipped that this year. I make a carrot cake all the time anyway, it's my signature cake that gets requested quite often.

If you don't mind my asking where in VA are you. My brother lives in Manassas and was stationed at Fort Belvoir for several years so I know the area a bit. I have a niece in Fredericksburg and one in the Richmond area too.

Right? We were so surprised at the line this day!

I didn't expect it to be so good, but I don't believe I'd had trout before that. Definitely something I order now that I know how good it can be!

Yeah, it was pretty brutal this week!

I agree, it's definitely helpful when trying to get in early with a day ticket/AP, although sometimes even that party corral gets overwhelmed and people spill out making it hard to get to the non party entrance. I think it was in 2023 when we arrived via the bus and could barely get passed the masses lined up for the party to get over to the non-party entrance!

Oh don't get jealous yet, it poured our night too for almost the entire party (started at 7 and didn't end until about 10:30!)

Oh wow, I'm sorry that happened and that the pork wasn't good! And that is ridiculous the CMs got angry, food allergies can be so serious, they should have done better!

Those raviolis were delicious! I hope they bring them back this year! Yeah, I like carrot cake as long as it's not super sweet, this one was way too sweet for my taste.
If you don't mind my asking where in VA are you. My brother lives in Manassas and was stationed at Fort Belvoir for several years so I know the area a bit. I have a niece in Fredericksburg and one in the Richmond area too.
I'm in Alexandria, and did a lot of work at Fort Belvoir. If you are familiar with the hospital there, that was one of the projects I worked on!

You are providing your mom VIP service delivering all those items! I loved the pork dish too. The line cutting guy sounds annoying. What is wrong with people?? If they ever even hint at closing LwtL I am chaining myself to something. Oddly the line for party wristbands at Tortuga was ridiculously long for us too.

Haha, yeah it started back in the day when she was injured, but now we've just kinda stuck with me being the runner and her saving a table! That pork dish was delicious! I hope they bring it back this year. Ugh, that guy who kept cutting made me so mad!!

They better not even think about closing LwtL! As annoying as it was to have a random long line there this day, I'm happy it did so Disney sees that it's still popular!

Odd how long the wristband line was this year. I guess a lot more people have learned you can get them in the park and don't have to be stuck waiting outside if you have day tickets.

Day 4, Part 4: Skipper Canteen!

We last left off heading to Skipper Canteen for dinner.

We arrived for our 4:15 reservation at 4:10 and quickly got checked in and brought into the waiting room. I had just sat down when our name was called! That was super-fast this year, in the past when we’ve dined here for the party we’ve had a wait, so this was nice!

Our table was right at the entrance, which I was a bit worried would be annoying with people coming in, but it wasn’t bad at all.

For dinner my mom ordered the chicken and I got the steak, we also ordered the cheese bread to start, we LOVE that stuff! (And just FYI – Trader Joe’s has a very similar cheese bread!) We also both got a glass of wine.

It was a really good dinner, and I was surprised how spicy mom’s dish was! I know I’ve said this a lot in the past few years, but Disney is finally being more adventurous with the spices and I love it! I remember years ago even if a dish was marked as spicy, it wasn’t at all, but these days they actually have some heat!

It was a very quick dinner and we were heading out at 5:15. It was a bit early for our next adventure, so we made our way over to Main Street to get some pictures!

Finally, around 5:30, we headed back to Adventureland for our next reservation at Beak and Barrel!

Next up: Beak and Barrel!

That cheese bread is so good - I've definitely made a meal of just the cheese bread! I like it better than the cheese bread at the booth in Food & Wine Festival - I lived in Brazil for a year and a half and the bread here is more like the cheese bread I had in Brazil.

Dang, now I want some. May have to brave Trader Joe's on a Saturday! :D

Super curious to hear your thoughts on Beak and Barrel! My first time wasn't great but I had a better time with Trevor on this most recent trip.

Finally, around 5:30, we headed back to Adventureland for our next reservation at Beak and Barrel!
I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience at Beak and Barrel. My sister-in-law wanted to try it. I was able to get a lunch time reservation for our February trip.

Love Skipper's Canteen. Definitely my go-to in the MK. We just got a Trader Joe's in our town so putting that cheese bread on the list - thanks for the tip! Interested to hear what you think of Beak and Barrel.
