Just set my credit card on FIRE booking flights on JetBlue

QVC shopper, we do magical express so we don't have to drive at all. Traditionally I have purchased our jetblue flights on the day fares are released and pay about $177 a person or less. This is our first trip during a school break, and I just didn't expect fares to be so high. I was able to rebook out of another city for $700 less, which is a bummer of a drive, but totally worth it for the deal. Next trip we will be more flexible as I plan to stay off property, rent a car, and see more of the state than the house of mouse! Also, strongly reconsidering my hard line policy on taking the kid out of school...

Thank you to everyone for the tips. I'm glad I am planning so far in advance so we actually get to go! The flights I dropped, the exact same seats, went from $574 to $612 the day I dropped them. Unreal.

We must be the oddballs. Our flights from Buffalo for April/May were lower than both our October and December trips. We booked direct with Jetblue and paid $152 pp each way, taxes included, for their Blue Plus fares (which includes one checked bag).

We can also fly from Syracuse, and their fares were definitely higher than from Buffalo. But we've been seeing that trend for quite a while....I think Southwest as competition keeps the Jetblue flights lower out of Buffalo.

I have a friend flying out of Buffalo in April 2016. First flight with two kids and first trip to the World for the family. Do you prefer JetBlue over SW from that airport?

We have only ever flown Jetblue or Airtran (the latter which was absorbed by SW) out of Buffalo, so I can't really comment on SW. That said, the reason we haven't flown Southwest is that we don't like their open seating policy and we like having a TV on each seat. Add in the free snacks and the ability to rack up True Blue points, and Jetblue is pretty much our exclusive go-to airline these days. Even if it costs a little more, its worth it for us.

Buffalo airport itself is super small and wonderfully easy to navigate. We live in Canada but almost always choose to fly from either Syracuse or Buffalo (SYR is also a tiny airport that keeps things super simple). Both are much less stressful than dealing with the masses at Pearson in Toronto. I think your friend will find it a good choice for a first flying experience!

Thanks gina-gina-bo-bina! I agree with all of your points about JetBlue. I warned him with two under 4 he will have to pay extra to make sure at least one adult can sit with the kids. I've not flown SW but I did look it up. Hancock is tiny and we live sooooooooo close, but for $700 we are driving to another airport!

We take Sputhwest out of Rochester..direct fight to Orlando. It was less than $1000 rt for 3 adults at that time...with 2 checked bags pp free...could you have flown out of Rochester???

I, too had booked JB for April break. (Another From Syracuse here!) I ended up canceling my DH and kids' flights within the 24 hours but kept mine that were booked on points. I just canceled mine booked on points because I was hoping they would go down and I could rebook my family. I've never seen such a mess with pricing from JB ever. I ended up paying a $60 cancelation fee but I will get all of my points back to my account. We will re-book on another line because we will save $250- $300 for each person (4 of us). We are leaving a bit earlier than I wanted but the savings are substantial. I have been beyond sick to my stomach worried that we would have to cancel our April cruise. Now looking at other lines I think we will be ok. The flights are not non-stop but we will be fine. Will I miss the JB experience... Yes ...but I will love having $1000 in my pocket:yay: Thank you, Dis-friends!:worship:
