Just say no to low cut jeans! (and muffin tops and cracks)

I really like those Coldwater Creek jeans in the beige. May have to pick some up today when I am at the mall. I hate Low-Cut jeans. Everything seems to be low-cut. They are just not comfortable and do not look good on me.

As for mom jeans, I think any brand/style of jeans that the majority of moms flock to, then become "mom" jeans.
And those young girls wearing the cute skinny jeans look at bootcuts as what their moms wear.

Bootcut jeans can't make a big rear look small. It is what it is.

As for the "french braid" aspect...I swear I saw a girl working at The Gap with really low jeans and a 5 o'clock shadow. Down there. Seriously. That's low rise, alright!

For the redord, low cut jeans can work on the right body and (here's the key) in the right size! I have gained 20 lbs. in the past few years and sometimes, you gotta' go up a size! I look better in a 12 then squeezed into an 8!

No tapered legs.

Just no! ;)
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

people who realize that gathering at the narrowest part of your body (your ankle) makes the rest of your body look way bigger than it really is.

:thumbsup2 exactly!

To me mom jeans are the ones that come up over your waist, are too short and tapered at the bottom. Also, light in color.

:thumbsup2 Totally what my mom USED to wear as I was growing up. She's much more hip, now.

As for me - I am a mom, but I refuse to dress like it! I get all my clothes at Old Navy b/c that's what fits me best. I love their jeans, too. Have a bazillion pairs. Hides my c-section "shelf" very well, IMO!

Good advice. Very good advice.

About a year ago I found some jeans that I really liked at Bass Pro Shop, of all places. Their only fault was that they didn't come in a dark wash. Naturally, they discontinued them about 2 months after I found them. They have come out with some new styles recently, though, so I'm going back to check those out this weekend.

I would have never thought to look there! I have a great time looking at all the goodies in that store!

Jeans in the 60's??? We 'pegged' our jeans back then...they were so darn tight you had to lie on your bed in order to get them zipped up. I'm not sure how we managed to breath let alone dance in 'em.
Boot-cut are fine..not even close to bell bottoms. I was a teen in the 60's and I know what bell bottoms are. I had one pair that had to be 2' in diameter at the bottom and the 'waist' was sitting on my hips!! Hip-huggers back then not 'low rise'.

Today, this 60 y/o mom wears low-rise. I like my Gloria Vanderbilt from BJs, and my Old Navy jeans. I just need 'em to be long for my long legs. But...I hate it when the low rise jeans start to droop and the crotch ends up slipping down to my knees...I am not a 'gangsta' mom, or a teen boy who likes his boxers showing!!! So, perfect for me is a few inches below my natural waist, which puts the jeans right about at my bellybutton..not extreme low rise.
Now, my 16 y/o dd wears low-rise jeans that are way too low. I can't make her understand that they just don't look good from behind. And she's not a 'big' girl...5'9" and about 130. But man, those jeans look awful as she's walking away. They flatten out her butt and it looks nasty.

You should take a picture of her butt in those jeans and then show it to her.

I have to say ... I totally agree. My measurements are 34-30-35. Yes, that's a THIRTY in the middle. I'm shaped very straight with something like a size 6 chest, size 12 waist, and size 6 hips. Low-rise jeans were seriously among the greatest inventions of my adolescence. They were the first jeans that I ever felt that I could button without either coming up short for oxygen or having two giant bags of extra material under my rear end. Thank you for your compassion to those of us straight-no-thigh girls. :)

I am SO glad I'm not the only one! :thumbsup2

The 80's ended and two more decades happened. That's what happened to them. If you can't find something in stores anymore, it's because it's no longer in style.

True. They are hard to find, but they are out there. I'm one of those moms that can't wear the low rise, flare/bell-bottom jeans b/c the they never fit correctly (too tight in areas and yet too loose in others). Straight legs I can deal with when I have to, especially in dress pants.

if you guys are still following this thread......
I could use some suggestions.

WHERE to get some jeans for a body type of an apple sitting on 2 toothpicks?
seriously. my thighs & hips fit in jeans 4 sizes smaller than my waist wants to! I cant even find anything with a zipper that has some stretch in the waist to compensate.
its horrible. I probably havent worn zippered jeans in 10 years.. just stuck with those ugly pull on pants. :scared1:

& being 5'4" I am stuck betweem petite & regular, ,sometimes the rise is way weird while trying to keep the pants from being too short or way too long.

You could try the knit jeans from Coldwater Creek. They hug you body so they might work.
