Just saw the Jungle Book show and I have to say...

I finally got around to seeing the new Jungle Book show in Animal Kingdom tonight. I thought the performers who sang and danced were great and the water screen was cool. I didn't have any problem seeing the screen as some people have said that the screen collapses in the middle leaving them unable to see the projection. I felt the show was obviously created to fill a slot until the main show comes and it was also promotion for the new Jungle Book movie. Everyone has been so critical about this show and I get it to an extent but I feel like if you take the show for what it is, you'll be able to enjoy it.
I didn't think the show was bad but it wasn't the best show Disney has put on. I sat in the fastpass section and had no problems with my view.
Again, when you understand that this is a filler/promotional show you will be able to appreciate the singing and dancing and music (which is all live). Maybe mine is an unpopular opinion but I felt that since everyone has no problem sharing their negative view of the show, I should be able to share my view. Experience it for yourself before you let others sway you either way.

JB is not great,but it is definitely not awful.

It is what it is.

With realisitic expectations,it CAN be enjoyed.

I haven't seen it but I did watch the video twice. I can see how people would enjoy it. I think the problem is it being presented as a nighttime spectacular, which Disney is very good at doing, and it's not up to that standard...at all. Versus an atmosphere type show without the hype.

But it is not a "premanent" nighttime spectacular.

It is a show put together in 40 days from conception to performance.

Now,criticism of RoL not being ready is a separate discussion,but they put together the best show they could with 40 days to work with.

I'd rather have a temporary show put together in 40 days than have the Discovery River Theater siting there dark.

RoL was getting major hype. Then they substituted this which sort of rolled into that hype. Then they kept selling dinner packages which further amped up the hype. So they aren't blameless in people expecting a Disney-nighttime-spectacular quality show.

Thanks for the review. I'm looking forward to seeing the JB show in August and I'm going in with the expectation level appropriate for what is really just a temporary/stop gap measure until RoL is ready to go. I really think a lot of the negativity around the JB show is more about the frustration and negative feelings people have about the RoL delay more than it's a critique of the show itself. I guess I'll see for myself in a couple of months.

I definitely feel that people are letting their frustration about Rivers of Light impact their experience of Jungle Book. But we don't even know what Rivers of Light will be. Sure, some people got a preview and thought it was amazing but no one has seen the full show yet.

It sounds like a good show, but like Beauty and the Beast at DHS (another great show), I'm not using a FastPass on it. It hardly seems worth it.

I'm sure the view is fine from the stand-by side as well. Just be aware that the people begin lining up for stand-by very early. I'm sure the second showing of the night would be a better option for stand-by but I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks for your honest review. My boys saw the Jungle Book movie and are super excited to see this show. We have dining package seats one night and FP+ seats the next. Not worried about the kids being disappointed, as they will be just happy they are in Disney. (Two guys could come out with sparklers and shake their butts and my kids would think it was the greatest thing ever. LOL.)

We may end up changing the FP+ to something else depending on how the first night goes. Not sure if it will be worth seeing twice.... Guess we will see!

One of the great things about the show is when the show is on, the wait times for the rides are pretty low! So even if you keep the FP+, you'll be able to do other rides pretty easily. All depends on how much you all like the show though!

I feel like Disney should have just promoted Animal Kingdom as a night time park instead of saying they have this brand new show and a new safari experience, etc. when it comes down to it, I'm more happy about having another night park option than I am about individual experiences. The safari is nice but it's really no different than the day and the tree is pretty but not a major attraction. I think Disney added a little too much hype and lost track of the big picture-a new option for night time (which is cool enough).

I only have seen it the soft opening night and official opening night. People that have gone after that have said that the screen effects are much better so I think they fixed it

Thanks so much for the positive things you've said. We will be on the DDP and I changed another restaurant booking to the JB dining package then doubted my decision. Now I feel a bit better about it
