Both are AMAZING... different in their own way but both are good.

I personally liked The Village MORE, but the MC keeps you reeling...MAN that Liev Schreiber looks like the son John Edwards and George W Bush would have if they COULD have a son!! :earseek:

Great afternoon of movies. Anyone else see them?

I want to see the MC, not so sure about the Village. Ebert and Roeper were on Leno last night, and they liked the MC, but didn't seem too crazy about the Village. Said it was good, but not as good as his other movies, 6th Sense and Signs...

I'm a BIG fan of the Sixth Sense and Signs and read all of the naysayers on rotten tomatoes.com so I expected NOTHING. I think that's why I was pleasantly surprised. I warned Michael that the critics said it was somewhat "boring" and about 3 times he turned towards me in the theatre and said "THIS is boring???". Now if an 11yo can say that.... :p

NO WAY!!! Don't worry, there will be know it alls who claim they KNEW from the beginning! I'm not one of them!
:teeth:

We're going to see The Village tomorrow afternoon. Both it and MC started to play tonight at the theater near here. DH and I want to see both but decided the Village seemed more intriging so it was our first choice.

Ok, well, I'll just have to go see it then....darn! Actually, my 12 yo son wants to see it so I will probably be following along! I am a big chicken so I was hoping you would give me a break by dropping more than hints!! :teeth:

Robin you are on top of the hot flix this week::yes:: Did you like Bryce Howard? M. Night says she is the next BIG actress:D

Robin you have made my day :D ! I'm so glad you liked the Village. I read over on Rotten Tomatoes today too since dh and I are supposed to go see it tomorrow and I was so disappointed to read that it wasn't any good. Ebert only gave it one star in the sun times.

I'm so happy you liked it. It gives me hope ::yes:: !

Hey, Ron!

I just posted on the other thread, SHE is the next IT girl! I didn't know she was Ron Howard's daughter until I got home and she STILL took my breath away! Opie has GOT to be one happy guy!

I do understand if the critics were disappointed with this compared to the other ones. The others were blockbusters, this is a much smaller film. I admired, as usual, M.Night's vision, the only thing I wish he'd do is have some children so he can give them more personality! All of the kids in his movies are so wooden!
:p

I guess you could say he has M. "Night" vision;)

I saw The Village this afternoon (and the Bourne Supremacy tonight!) and loved it as well. I think this film leaves you with many things to ponder and I like that. I did figure out the twist, but only about 10 minutes before it happened.

Those of you planning to take children to see The Village be warned...there are several "jump" scenes like in traditional horror movies, and although there is nearly no blood or gore there are several shots of dead/skinned animals. I know that my DD12 would really enjoy the story, but wouldn't be able to get past the hurt animals.

I give The Village a definite "Thumbs Up"

We just got back from seeing The Village. I am emotionally drained! What a surprise movie! No wonder no one will talk about it! What a good idea for a movie! You would never suspect....

Just came home from seeing "Village" --- really enjoyed it and there was applause from the audience several times during the movie and at the end. (Audience was a mixture of teens & adults)

If you don't know what the movie is about --- GOOD! I think you'll enjoy the story more if you watch it unfold.....

For those who think that the movie will be spoiled by "word of mouth" about the ending..... just remember - We all knew that the Titanic was going to sink; but it was STILL a great movie!! ;)

I would love to see The Village. It's on my to see list, but then again, so is Harry Potter, and I havent got to see it yet.

Very funny, Micca... :p

I agree, if you know the twist it can ruin it for you. I went to see it BEFORE I knew because I know my big mouth family and they would've blabbed it!

I had no idea, it just BLEW my mind. I DID have to explain it to Michael who was, at 11, totally befuddled! It is a good way to explain to your child what fear can make us do.

Again, AMAZING!
:earseek:

I agree, there is no way to post what the movie is about. Let's just say, it's not the movie you think it will be. There was a lot to think about and talk about on the way home. I almost think I need to see it again, because now that I know what it is, I think I missed some stuff throughout.

Bryce Howard is wonderful!!!!!!! She is a stunning woman. I was a little dissapointed in the amount of screen time for Joaquin though, we didn't get to see quite enough of him :( .

Yeah, I wanted to see Harry Potter too and the boys would not go with me! I was embarrased to go by myself so I will have to rent it!! :tilt:
