Had a great stay at AKL after a short cruise, but wanted to share the small problem with our reservation.

I always do my own travel arrangements, and I booked my own room only reservation online through AAA's site - two adults and one child (15). Once I checked in, I added our 4-day hopper tickets (yes, I know that I could have booked a package earlier, but I didn't). Anyway, when i added the tickets to my reservation, the front desk agent charged us for adults and one child (2-9) because he said that it was what was on our room reservation. After correcting him about my daughter's true age, they made me buy another adult ticket, and said they would refund the purchase of the "child" ticket (that was on Sunday and I'm still waiting for it to show up in my account).

Once I got home, I did a mock booking to see where i messed up, and I saw that AAA gives you the choice of a child and you have to put in your age - which is what I did originally. Still not quite sure how it came up as two adults and one junior, but it was an inconvenience to say the least.

Still had a great time - was upgraded to partial savannah room for free and given a $50 room credit for the small hassle.

what did your reservation confirmed say?

if it say room and tickets - then you needed to change it before you arrived.

if it say room only - would contest they charging you for tickets.

I booked a "room only" reservation and bought our tickets once I got there. The problem was that they couldn't add the correct tickets (three adults) because it had two adults and one child on the AAA reservation (AAA's website asks for "child's" age and I put 15, but WDW saw this as a "child" as in 2-9 year old. They gave me the choice of either rebooking the entire room as three adults, or purchase a different ticket for my 15 year old "adult" child. Glad that I chose to re-book the ticket since it's taking so long for them to refund those few hundred dollars. I would be really upset if I was waiting for over a thousand bucks.

Sorry you had a problem with the ticket price, but glad you had a great stay...AKL is a beautiful resort. Congrats on the partial savanah view upgrade and room credit :goodvibes.

Too bad about the glitch. This is why I book with WDW. You can get the AAA room only discount booking directly with WDW too. You just have to phone.

I am now kinding hoping for a tiny glitch to get upgraded to a partial Savannah view. :thumbsup2 Maybe they could lose our luggage for half a day or something. :lmao:

You did have 2 adults and 1 junior. When booking packages, a "junior" is anyone 10 to 17. They get charged for an adult ticket but they don't count towards the extra adult charge. A "child" is 3 to 9. Sounds like it may have been your mistake.

When I went back in do a mock booking, the same way that I did the first time, AAA's WDW site asks for how many adults and how many "children", then asks for you to input the child's age, which I did (which is 15). But, the reservation showed up as "child" when I got to the resort. There is no separate area to check "junior" or "child" on the AAA reservation site. It's just child and what age. And I didn't book a package, I just booked the room on AAA's site. Once I got to the resort, I bought the tickets at AKL (which they added onto my Keys)
