I just returned from our vacation at the Polynesian and I didn't want to come home.:( I loved the resort!! I had such a relaxing time. As we walked around the resort you could smell all the flowers and hear the waterfalls, it was so peaceful. The Volcano pool was a blast! My DD 7 would just go down the slide over and over, my DD who is 4 would not go down the slide. Oh well, maybe next year. The rooms had a lot of space and I loved the balcony. The only bad thing was I had to leave and when we sat on the balcony at night I was eaten by bugs and that was the only place I was attacked by bugs. However, the bugs never touch my DH.

Which building / view did you have? Where you happy with your room? How is the construction going?

Thanks, MKY princess:

I walked around the resort several times and never saw any construction going on. We stayed in the Tokelau bldg. and had a garden view. The view we had was of a pathway and some trees and bushes. We were very happy with our room. We had 5 people stay in the room and we had enough room. The person sleeping on the daybed said it was comfortable. The maids did a great job cleaning the room. We didn't have anything special, like towel animals, but we still enjoyed the Polynesian. We are now spoiled and we will try to stay at the Polynesian for a few days on our next trip.

Wife and I are checking in next Sunday. How is watermouse (or whatever the new name is) availability? Wife is wanting to take an afternoon and terrorize some other tourists (grin).

7 days and counting . . .
-D

Wow! Sounds like you had a fabulous time :) Did you use the buses while you were there? I was also wondering if the pool was usually busy...

TIA :p

I don't know about the availablity of the water mice, sorry.

The bus system was okay. The problems with the bus system we experienced was downtown disney. The AC in the bus was broken and my kids about passed out from the heat, not happy, but going to complain because a Florida law says community transportation MUST have a WORKING AC. The longest wait we had for a bus, this is from Magic Kingdom to Beach Club was 40 minutes. I will never stay at the BC because I think the bus system is worst there than the Polynesian. We were pretty lucky for the buses to the Polynesian, we waited at the most 10 minutes for one bus. Most of the time it was anywhere from 3 minutes to 5 minutes.

We also took the boat back to the poly and we enjoyed that transportation. We waited maybe 5 minutes for a boat and the ride was quick back to the resort.

The pool would get busy around 2pm, but you could still enjoy the pool. The life guards were fantastic. We saw them do a drill and then we actually saw a lifeguard jump in the pool to help a little boy.

Glad you had a good trip! Thanks for the report.

I know what you mean about the misery of a bus without air conditioning--one sweltering afternoon last summer at WDW we got onto a bus that didn't have working air conditioning, and of course you couldn't open the windows and it was horrible...absolutely suffocating! As we sat there loading everyone up like sardines, a lady in the back started having a panic attack and I almost did too. People started yelling for the driver to open the back doors so we could get off before we pulled away from the resort but just then the driver radioed his controller and was able to get instructions on how to get the air conditioning running.

I wonder if that rule about requiring working air conditioning applies to Disney since it's private property. This was the only problem we had during a week of riding Disney transportation; other than that it was fantastic.

I'm glad you had a good trip... We stayed in Tokelau 3942 and loved the location... We walked over to the TTC a lot of the time.

We also returned from our stay at the Poly May 17-21. We had a LV in the Tahiti bldg. 3rd floor. It was a fabulous view!!! I enjoyed every minute of this vacation because of how great the whole atmosphere is at the Poly. The pool was wonderful. There was definately an increase in the amount of people at 2pm because that was when we decided to leave because it was just too many in the pool. We had an incident at the pool when a snake was supposedly by the pool or got into it. I wasn't paying much attention, but it was quickly resolved and the signal was given by the lifeguard to resume activities. Mousekeeping did a great job- no problems here. CM's were all very nice. The only thing I feel was a problem was that the rails on the balconies were too far apart. What I mean is my 2yr olds head literally fit in between the rails with space on each side, which would have been an easy way for a child to fall. I was soooo freaked about this that I would sit on the floor of the balcony with him so I could latch onto him while we enjoyed the view. (of course he wanted to stay out there the whole time). While walking around the resort we noticed that the rails on each building were spaced differently which would lead me to believe that the bldgs obviously were built at different periods of time and probably had different building codes. BUT, this was way too far apart!!!! So, beware if you have young children ask for a patio room to be on the safe side. I know I will be next time. Other than that I was extremely pleased with the whole trip at the poly, in fact we have another trip planned for October MNSSHP. We can't wait!:hyper:

My first and still my favorite....the POLY!::yes::

Glad you had a great time!

I just returned Saturday and I want to go back to the Polynesian, right now. Who is going soon? Can I hop in your bags and go with you? I will just stay at the pool and the pool bar. You won't know I'm there. Maybe I should plan a two day trip to the Polynesian for Sept. I don't need to go to the parks, just the hotel. Missing the Polynesian ..... I'm addicted to the hotel!!

Glad to hear you had a wonderful trip ! Makes me wish it was already mid-july and we were at the Polynesian. Just counting down the days until we arrive on July 14th :earsboy:

we are going to the polynesian for my b-day and i am so happy to here you enjoyed it. we were going to stay at the grand floridean but i have been int he polynesian and felt more comfortable so my mother said she would change reservation and take me to the poly. i am so exited!
glad to here you had a great time.

GottaluvPluto,

I agree that the busses over at the BC are worse. We stayed at the YC and they took for ever than we had to stop at the Swan and Dolphin before the YC and they seem to take for ever even if no one was around. As far as the AC not working and waiting for the bus all I can say is two words…..RENTAL CAR!!!

Glad you had a great trip. We will be back the end of July. First time we will not be there for the 4th.

Aloha

Steve

I know what you mean about being addicted. We stayed at the Poly last June for 10 glorious days. Now we are planning a trip to DW next July and we only want to stay at the Poly. Every time we even try to discuss another resort we remember something that we loved at the Poly....sitting on the beach watching the water parade, sitting on the beach watching the fireworks, being able to see the castle change colors from our balcony, the pools and especially that monorail since we spend most of our time at MK and Epcot. We are going to make our reservation soon and I am pretty sure we will be back at the Poly next July:)

You are making me miss the Polynesian :( Good thing I'll be there in 28 days ;)

I am glad you enjoyed the Polynesian as much as we do. It is a magical resort and so relaxing! The fun for you now is planning your next visit to the Polynesian ;) How are you going to fit in our bags???:p

I so agree with you on just wanting to stay and hang out at the resort. Sometimes I feel i just want a vacation to the resort...forget the parks! Give me tropical music, tropical drinks, and tropical breezes..and a hammock!!
