We booked just 2 weeks before leaving for our trip and booked OKW 4 nights in a 1 bedroom preferred location and WLV's 1 bedroom for the last 2 nights. We had stayed at OKW in a studio years ago for 2 nights but didn't tour. It was our first stay at the WLV's. We have owned at the BWV's since 99.

We checked into OKW on Sunday, after checking out of the Poly. We arrived around noon and were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready. (Love the balloon girl in the lobby) We were in building 11. FABULOUS location. Basically 2 minutes to everything. We loved the pool and playground area for our girls. Our teens were unable to come due to school schedules but would have loved the close location to the community hall. gym, etc.

We were a bit concerned about buses after our first day touring, we waited 40 minutes for a bus to the AK and waited 30 to return to the resort later in the day. This was the only day we toured the AK and found the bus service spot on the rest of the trip to the other parks. We learned quickly to get off at the first bus stop and walk back to our room. Saved time stopping at all the bus stops at the resort. Our stop at the front of the resort was the last stop. All in all very pleased with the bus service.

Staff was super friendly at this resort. As were the other guests, after coming from the monorail resort area where we encountered more than our fair share of rude guests OKW was a breathe of fresh air. Everyone was friendly and happy!!!

The room smelled like clorox when we entered. Loved it. Smelled clean and looked clean!! The size of the living area was significantly larger than the WLV's but I'll get to that.

All in all we really loved the OKW resort.

Now onto the WLV's. We had almost put off buying the BWV's when we heard they were building the WLV's but did not. Thank God and I mean that literally. Before I offend any owners let me say that is not my intent. This is just the opinion of myself and DH, everybody likes different things and thats the beauty of DVC, there is something for everyone.

We checked in around 11:15 am. We literally checked out of OKW and went straight to the WLV's. We had come down with some type of flu bug and felt like death. When we checked in I mentioned we really felt awful and please please can we get any 1 bedroom anywhere...dumpster view...anything jsut to where we could lay down. I was very cooly told they would work on it. 5 hours later I called and spoke to someone at the front desk who tells me there is a problem with the room we were assigned and it had been flagged early in the am and they would reassign us a new room asap. Why was this not done at 11:15am?

We found the villas beautiful, gorgeous but after leaving the OKW 1 bedroom ...I now know what the OKW owners are talking about with room size. When you lay the sofa bed out in the living area there is NO and I NO floor space left at all. And since I brought up the sofa bed.....the mattress was so saggy it was pathetic and you could feel every metal bar under you.

Last but not least housekeeping left cute little towel animals, housekeeping was very friendly in the halls but what I want most from housekeeping is for them to clean my room. We discovered doritos in the sliding glass door runner when we noticed our dd who is 1 munching on doritos that we knew weren't ours. DVC will get a letter due to that one. I guess I must inspect every corner of our villa from now on.

Now onto the nice things. Beautiful resort, it really is magnificent. The lobby with the Walt photos and trains was lovely. The pool area nice and never crowded.

Will we stay here again, NO! We will stay at the lodge on a cash basis but we are normally a party of 6, requiring a 2 bedroom, and the rooms really are small even compared to the BWV's. I can't imagine adding the studio next door adds that much floor space.

All in all a great stay and a learning experience.

Thank you for posting the lovely trip report (sorry about the VWL experience -yeesh)! It was a refreshing break from all this prattle about BLT.

Interesting report. I think you are objective and are reporting your experience. We have never stayed in the WL villas... only the lodge many years ago. One our best experiences as a family.

Thanks for your report. :thumbsup2

I can just picture my 9 month old finding someone else's chips and putting them in his mouth. :scared: Of course that's not DVC's fault (in general) so complain to mousekeeping!
