Just returned from CBR...my thoughts

Hello my family just returned from a weeklong stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort. First let me say that I love CBR, this was my families 4th stay at this resort because we enjoy the theming so much. A couple of negatives that I noticed this stay that I had not before: 1. The popcorn ceiling in our room was extremely dusty and dirty looking. Not a big deal. 2. Two very large dark stains marked the carpet entry way of our room. 3. Mousekeeping was lacking, did not replace soaps shampoos cups etc on a regular basis. They also accidentaly took a white t-shirt that was left on the floor with our dirty towels....which we may or may not ever get back. 4. Quality of the food we received at Old Port Royale was not as good as in years past. There were many many POSITIVES to our stay I just wanted to give an honest review. The exterior and landscaping were immaculate as usual, bus service was pretty darn good, service checking in was good, and the location of our room (2313) was excellent.
 
Have you stayed at any of the other moderates? I know the rooms are bigger at CBR, I was just wondering your overall impression as compared to, say, POR. I'm considering a stay at CBR mostly based on the fact that the rooms are larger.

Sorry, but I think that is a big deal. If I had to see those things every time I was in the room I think I'd be disgusted.
 
We just returned from our trip at CBR as well. I thought the rooms themselves were fine. No issue. We had good mousekeeping. They first day or two the soap and shampoo was not replaced/replenished but honestly I still had plenty from the prior day. And then on our last day, they left extra. I loved coming back to the room to see what they did with my kid's stuffed animals. They would arrange them on the beds or have them sitting on the AC peering out the windows "waiting" for our arrival. FWIW, we were in Barbados (1615).
The food court was just ok. We did enjoy the personalized pizzas better then breakfast. We had problems the first night catching a bus to MK (took 20 min which I know is what they advertise but it's usually not that long) but other than that, I can't complain.
The resort was definitely spread out but it was a nice walk to OPR from Barbados.

Overall, I would go back to CBR!
 

I have a question. Did you say ANYTHING to the front desk about the issues? If not, then why not?

No one can come HOME and complain about anything. If a complaint is given while you are there, and if the complaints fall on deaf ears - THEN you have an issue. If you didn't complain at all, then how did you expect anything to be changed?

If I own a resort, and there is a stain in room 2120 - but no one TOLD ME about it - HOW am I supposed to take care of it? If my housekeeper is not doing his/her job, but I don't know that - do you really expect it to change?

No resort can fix what they don't know about.
 
There is a button on the phone called "housekeeping", which is where those types of issues can be resolved.

They cannot be resolved after you get home or on the boards.

I had a refurbished room at POR, it was the second week after it opened. By the third day, we had a few minor "construction" related issues. The exhaust fan had a blade that was dragging slightly; the shower lever handle could not be closed all the way and the faucet was dripping; and the new thermostat was quit acting properly (the unit was slow to kick on when it called for a/c). I work in construction, so I am fully aware these things can occur right after a building is opened for occupancy.

I call housekeeping, put in a work order before we left for breakfast, and all three things were fixed when we returned that afternoon. No problems.
 
Lisann: I have not stayed at any of the other moderates so I am unable to make any comparisons for you there. Sorry.
 
I Love Pluto: No I did not say anything about the issues, because as I stated I did not think them to be big issues. I did not expect anything to be done, nor did I come here to COMPLAIN. I came here to just give a review of my most recent stay at CBR. My room was dingy compared to years past and was in need of a deep cleaning yes, but I was in no way expecting anything to be done while I was there or after the fact sorry if you got that impression!
 
Sorry you had to deal with the dirty room. I would think that Housekeeping would already know about the dark stains on the carpet. I mean they are in those rooms daily and I would assume a manager comes in to check these rooms. Thanks for your review and I hope if you go back that next time your room is clean with no stains on the floor or grunge on the ceiling...bleck!
