Just Returned From Disney
We just returned from Disney just a couple of hours ago.

The roads until up into SC were pretty bad.It took us 11 hours to get home when it usually just takes a little over 8.We left about 9:30 last night. We were going to stay and wait it out because of the traffic and the gas situation but as the storm continued to slow down,we knew we needed to get home so we could be to work on Monday.

They let us add 2 days on at BCV when we thought we were going to be staying. We were staying on points. They also said that they could let us have a room at BC for 199.00 a night plus tax.But we opted to use our points. When we decided to leave last night and we went to check out they said they did not know what would happen to our points and said we could call this morning and they could let us know when MS opened up.Well they credited our points back to our 2005 use year and also give our points back for yesterday too,I thought that was very nice of them.

It was dead in the parks and DD yesterday and the day before. The parks were EMPTY.

The line at BC was Very, Very long but they were doing everything they could to help out the guests,I have to say that the CMs and Disney were Awesome. You know they were all worried about the storm but they made you feel like you were in the safest place in the World.I have to say if it were not for the storm moving so slow we would have stayed and never thought twice about it.We felt so safe and taken care of there.

If there is anyone checking in next week Please remember to be Nice to the CMs they have dealt with Alot the past few weeks.

My Prayers go out to the ones that are having to Ride this storm out.

I would also like to add if you want an AWESOME view of Illuuminations ask for room 322(studio but it is a lockoff).OMG that view was Incredible. Also the room was in wonderful condition. We will definetly be staying in that room again.I dont know whether I can stay anywhere else now.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful stay!! I'm sorry, however, that it had to end on the note of a hurricane...you must feel glad to be back at home, safe & sound. Here's hoping that everyone else is able to return home safely, too. And that residents in the path of Frances remain safe, also.

It really does sound like WDW and the CM's do an excellent job of taking care of their guests during these times of "trial". I agree, we all need to be sure to let them know we appreciate it when we're there! It's also nice to hear that MS credited your points back to your 2005 UY......this is the kind of service that WDW is supposed to be known for, right?!?!

It's really good to see someone post a nice report about BCV'S.
I know we have been at WDW during 2 other hurricanes
( Andrew & Floyd ) and the staff was wonderful both times. You know they have to be concerned for their families yet they are there helping others who are away from home. Thanks

Always love to hear good things about my BCV!!!!! We loved our view there also. Glad you made it home safe!

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!!! Glad you got home safely!

Misty,

We were right down the hall from you in 333. We just got back today. We were supposed to fly out of Orlando direct into LGA but the flt ended up being cancelled. The whole story on Community Board.

I have to agree with you the CM's were wonderful and very patient. I had gone down to the front desk about 1am to get directions to the Tampa airport and there were some employees of BC that were getting room assignments. I was told that they were part of the ride out crew that would be there all weekend for whatever was needed.

Our room was also nice and clean, not such a great view of fireworks but nice room. After hearing all the bad things here recently was worried since this was our first time home. :D

But other than Francis this was a wonderful trip. The kids all got along, too!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We escaped from the BCV as well yesterday.
I had no idea they were going to shut down MCO Friday at noon. We had 4:00 PM flights to JFK. I called Delta Thursday morning to confirm, and the flight was scheduled to depart on-time.
When we returned to the hotel in the afternoon, I learned that MCO was closing at noon on Friday, and our flight was rescheduled on Sunday morning.
Watching the news there, and seeing I-75, I-95 and the FL Turnpike parking lots, combined with gas shortages, we decided to stay until Sunday. We also filled our car up with gas at the Hess across from the Boardwalk.
We extended our stay, using 120 points (60 pts per night at the BCV for a 2 bedroom on Fri and Sat nights)
On Friday morning, we learned that Francis had slowed down , and probably won't arrive here until Saturday.
In 1 hour, I re-booked our flights to Atlanta, got a hotel reservation there on Saturday night, called the rental car company and told them we would be returning the car in Atlanta.
We checked out just before 11:00 AM and made a mad dash to the border.
Surprisingly, there was no traffic and plenty of gas. It took us about seven hours of driving to get there.
Got into our hotel with no problems. Early this morning, we returned the car and took a Delta flight to LGA.
Even though Delta was a few $$$ more than JetBlue, I will gladly do it again, because we had the option of flying through Atlanta. There is no option with JetBlue if all Florida airports are shut down.

I did not know there were that many of us at BCV.We could have had a mini meet or something.I am so glad that we all made it home safe and sound.
