Thought I would provide one thread for lots of miscellaneous topics.....
Arrived Tuesday, March 10th - departed Sunday, March 15th
Golf - took advantage of the DVC membership and played rounds at LBV, Magnolia, and Osprey Ridge. Eagle Pines is covered in 8 feet of dirt. Latest is that Four Seasons will take over Osprey Ridge in 2012 (was supposed to be in 2010 but things are getting pushed back - economy perhaps?). Pro shops are well stocked with new merchandise and the staff at all courses are as friendly as ever. BTW, made tee times on-line and had no problems. Played before 10 am so my rate at each course was $109.
Advance Check-in - had no problems with this. Separate check-in area/station at AKV - all information was ready. We had a one-bedroom on the 5th floor.
Sunset Safari - first time we did this (although we have eaten at Jiko's before) - LOVED IT! Folks at the table were jealeous that I pulled out my Disney Visa Rewards Card to pay ($210 per person) - gotta love a freebie worth that much! We took over 400 photos and loved every minute of it. Well worth the cost even if you don't have that many reward points. Dinner included three glasses of wine, filet, chicken, and hallibut, appetizers, desserts, etc.
Segway Tour (Epcot) - this is about the 4th time we have done this - so much fun! We had an added benefit of seeing the flowers for the Flower and Garden show (even though the show didn't start until after we left). Got the Disney Visa discount for this.
Sunset Savannah - had animals on it (despite the claims that it wouldn't).
New AK DVC building - restaurant will overlook the savannah. Looks beautiful - took lots of photos from the Sunset Safari.
Food - ate at Yak & Yeti (DVC discount); Restaurant Merrakesh (DVC Discount); Kona; Jiko (twice); Bongos.
Build-A-Tee shop at Downtown Disney - not impressed. No sample tee shirts to check sizes. Long sleeve tees (we still have cold weather here in MD) are only available in three colors (white, black, grey).
SSR TreeHouses - they were finishing up the decks outside (also have photos from the 17th fairway of LBV Golf Course) - can't wait to stay in one!!!
Photopass - they are now set up each evening in the lobby of AKV and the Poly for Photopasses - the background for the Poly photo is great! Not sure if all resorts have this or just the Deluxe but it was nice to have photos taken before heading to dinner (and before drinks were consumed
)
I'll be glad to provide more specifics and/or email photos (there are so many).
