I'm not going to write a book just a few quick observations and opinions.

HRH- Although not a Disney hotel it was our first resort of our trip, we stayed 3 nights on club level. The service at this resort far passes that of the Portifino Bay so if your nervous about chosing this resort don't be it was fantastic!!!!

Vero Beach- We are DVC members and this was our first stay at this resort. We stayed in a 1 bedroom, 2nd floor with a partcial ocean view. All I will say is , we will be back yearly to this resort!! We were drawn the first morning for the Turtle Patrol, we saw a 200 lb loggerhead turtle lay a huge nest of eggs. My 8 yr old son was full of questions for the ranger, the ranger chose him to name the turtle, Marley became her name for the brief few minutes we observed this amazing animal. The following morning one of the CM's brought my son a card with the date and name of the turtle and other info and a loggerhead turtle magnet.

AKL- I had been waiting for this resort since they announced it!!!!! It is certainly beautiful, service was excellent. All CM's we came in contact with were EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!! Some noteworthy ones were Lynn at check-in and Rolanda from South Africa at Boma. We tried Mara and Boma(breakfast and dinner). Dinner at Boma was very good, we will certainly return. The breakfast was okay but Spoodles is still my favor. The night we went to Mara we had been at Sea World all day and just didn't feel like a huge meal,. We ordered a large pizza to go. We had waited maybe 15 minutes and a CM came over apologized for the wait and gave us our money back and our pizza. I noticed about 5 guests recieving their money back. We had a 2nd floor room on Kudo trail, excellent view we saw all the animals on the animal checklist in the room all on the savannah at different times. The slide at the pool was a bit dissappointing, very small! Now what I am about to say may upset others but this is how we felt. We will stay at the AKL as long as we have a GOOD discount and only for 2 or 3 nights. I personally would not stay at this resort and tour, I hate the buses and that is your only option from this resort. We didn't tour any from this resort so I cannot say how the system works but when I'm paying for a deluxe I don't want buses.

BWV- We stayed in a studio, my DH had to leave for work at the end of our AKL stay so the boys and myself had booked a studio. The studio was very roomy for the 3 of us, the room seemed so much larger than any regular resort room however I think it was because of the sofa. The BWV is my home resort, I love it dearly however the bus transportation was HORRIBLE!!! To get back from the AK or MK you stop at Blizzard Beach, Swan, Dolphin, YC, BC, and then finally stop number 6 is the BW. The one and only time we attempted to go to the MK from the BW, we got on the bus to find we would have to stand. The bus still had to drop off and pick up from the BC, YC, Swan, and the Dolphin. We got off the bus retrieved the car from valet and drove to the MK!!! I understand the need to share buses but this many deluxes sharing is ridiculous. I notice the All Stars have seperate buses and yes I understand they are masive resorts. However compare what you pay at the All Stars to what you pay at this deluxes. Disney can do better!!!!!!!!

If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them!

Thanks for the report Snow Witch!

Glad you had a good time, except for the buses. We have never visited DW without renting a car for the same reasons you site. I know I would get annoyed waiting for buses when I could be riding the rides! When you factor in transportation from the airport, etc. I find that a rental car is very cost effective.

Welcome back!

It sounds like you had a nice overall trip. We will be going the WDW at the end of July beginning of August. We have never stayed at BWV previously; however, in every other location we stayed on propety the bus service was excellent. I agree with you concerning the cost of delux hotels and bus service. It seems this is something Disney should remedy. I was not clear what you meant by a tour at the AKL. We are planning on staying there the last night of our stay. Glad your trip went well and wishing you many more! ;)

Hi MickeyC , what I meant about touring in regards to the AKL. I mean I don't think I would want to stay there an entire trip and have to bus to every park. I feel like touring to every park would be a hassle considering the rates you pay. To put it in the words of my balcony neighbor during our stay. If I'm going to have to take a bus to every park why should I pay $200-300 a night when I could pay $49-99 at the All stars. From talking to quite a few CM's this is a concern and a frequently heard comment.

Hi SnowWitch,

I'm going to be staying at the HRH next week, for 3 nights. Universal has a "Front of Line" policy for people who stay in their on-site hotels and visit their theme parks. I was wondering what you thought of the "Front of Line", while you were there. Were there still long waits in line or were you actually moved onto the rides faster?

Thanks

We just recently stayed at the Portofino and used the FOL perk. It was great. Longest wait for any ride using the FOL was about 10 minutes, maybe not even that long. It was definately worth every penny to stay onsite in order to have this advantage. You will love it, especially if you just came from Disney and spent have your day in a line....which I am starting to get tired of doing. Have a great time!

RANDY the longest wait we experienced might have been five minutes and that would have been on MIB and BTTF. Everything else we walked right on literally!!!

Snowitch, thanks for your response. I agree with you and others who have commented about the bus service. As far as buses are concerned I think all of us want to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. If I want a tour I will book with Greyhound. I like the convenience of the buses and I hope the service returns to it's prior level. Enjoy!
