Just returned, Blue Card sadness

Clark: Roy; can I call you Roy? Have you even driven your whole family cross-country?
Roy Walley: Oh, <> yes. Once I drove all of them to Florida. The smell coming out of the back seat was terrible.
Clark: I know that smell, Roy; but what if you had driven all that way and Florida was closed?
Roy Walley: Closed? Uh, they don't close Florida.
:rotfl2:
One of my favorite movies.

Actually, I just realized that ironically, they DID close Florida. But to be fair, Disney issued refunds during that period.
Well to be fair, most states were “ closed”. Before the pandemic, I think Disney only closed briefly after 9/11 and one or two hurricanes. Not bad for 49 years.

Like you, we were down there during this terrible weather spell. The beginning of November is supposed to be a high around 80 each day with sun; however, during this spell some days had highs in the 60s with hours of rain and gusty winds. The whole week we were there I believe I saw the sun for 30 minutes and that may be an exaggeration. It was miserable. Normally we close parks down but not on this trip.

they can't control the weather. Unless it's bad enough to close the parks, you won't see anything like a refund for weather.

Yes, there have been a few occurrences where they shut down due to hurricanes, or potential hurricane-type weather. At that point, they're closing it for guest/cast member safety reasons, not because of the rain. We were there in 2004 for one of those shut-downs. Not fun, but way worse weather than was experienced recently.

I love going to the park when it rains. My favorite rain ride is the raft ride (both in DCA and DAK). I like to put on my head to toe rain gear and ride the raft ride over and over. Sometimes they don't even make me get out of the raft between rides, because the line is so short and there are more than enough rafts for it to become a walk-on ride during the rain.
One year they closed water parks, on our last day, due to wind. My nephew had a ticket that had 1 waterpark day, and he had run out of days for the major parks. They did allow him to change the 1 waterpark day to a major park day. But the actual cost of the ticket, for an additional major park day instead of a waterpark day, was very close to the same.
