Just Relaxin’ on the Wonder – Nowhere, Nothing, Nada. - Complete! and Final Thoughts

Oh you're food porn gas me drooling for next month's trip to Palo.

I agree any balcony is better than none, but we went cheap on this last minute cruise.

I'm a little sad that I won't be back there again until July, but I can't wait to try Remy next month!

Have fun at Remy I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Palo is about as fancy as I can get DH to do, he's not into food.

As we left off, we had just awakened from a nap after Mixology, room service and booking all kinds of new trips!

So we pulled ourselves together and got ready for dinner. This was the second night of the 2 night cruise and most of the people on the ship would be disembarking the next day. We couldn’t help but feel a little smug that we still had another five days on board while most everyone else would be leaving the ship. They were packing up their suitcases and getting ready to put them outside their staterooms for pick up later that night while we were basking in another five nights in our room already unpacked and ready to enjoy.

Now I’m glad I took notes because all this time that we have been on the ship Fran had been looking for her watch in our luggage. She swore that she packed it, and we looked through every single bag that we packed and never found her watch, so somewhere between Mixology and dinner, Fran bought herself a new watch. The good thing is that she has been wearing it since she bought it, so it was a good purchase. I won’t even begin to explain how many watches (with dead batteries) are in our possession at the new house. Nor will I mention how many are in storage. I am just glad she has a working watch! :thumbsup2

Tonight dinner was at Parrot Cay. Somehow in a discussion with our head waiter I found out that our rotation for dinner on our five night cruise was the one we requested. PTAPT (Parrot Cay, Triton’s Animator’s Palate, Parrot Cay, Triton’s). While I was thrilled that the rotation I requested was granted, I was a little bummed that two nights in a row we were dining at Parrot Cay. I needed to figure out how we would have two different dinners two nights in a row. Well Fran actually doesn’t care about whether or not she eats the same thing, but I do. So I picked my dinner carefully tonight!

But first here is the menu.

I ordered the Melon Vine and it arrived quite quickly. I wasn't going to make the mistake of ordering a cocktail that wasn't on the menu a second night in a row.

Tonight I picked the ahi tuna.

Fran went for the Baked Crab Martinique which we would both have tomorrow night. It was strange having to decide what I would have tonight knowing I wanted something different tomorrow.

Fran had the Cream of Green Asparagus, and I skipped this course, knowing I would be too full.

We both went for the Mixed Grill. It had all kinds of food. A Lamb Chop, and piece of sirloin, some shrimp, a piece of bacon wrapped sausage, grilled tomato and more!

I ordered a drink called the “crème brulee” it was a whole mess of things, really good and really potent!

Tonight we were able to order dessert. I got the date bread pudding with Ice Cream. It was really delicious, and I was pretty full.

Fran asked for “Nothing” and that’s what our servers gave her.

That would have been a short cruise if you had to get off tomorrow. You got on in San Diego, went out to sea and would get off tomorrow? I'm glad you are staying for 5 more days!!

OMG, Alison! I feel like I have so much to catch up on!

First of all, I love your pictures of the lobby atrium seating area. Amazing that you got those shots with no one else there!

We went to our 1st DVC member celebration last month for 3 reasons: to receive whatever gift they had to offer, to see if there were other giveaways like they do at the Disneyland Hotel's member gathering, and for a chance at the onboard credit. I don't' know if you noticed it on my TR, but DH won the OBC!!! I left the DVC meet early & took the kids w/me to the FB cruise meet's group photo. I found out he won when we saw him afterwards. You are right though... it was corny, loud, and they wanted everyone to do silly dance moves, but we had fun. It was our 1st day on a DCL ship in over 2 years and we were just so excited to be there!

I love your pirate costume!

That was so weird about how long it took your ship to leave. Did you ever find out what happened?

Now, on to Palo... as you know, DH and I LOOOOOVVVEEE Palo brunch! That's too bad you couldn't get a picture of the king crab legs. It was the BEST I'd ever had in my life! You could tell they boiled them in a tasty sea salt water. To be honest, I think that was the 1st time I ate them in Palo.

We surprised ourselves this trip by liking the Parrot Cay and Pirate Night food. I REALLY liked the crab dip (even DS4 was eating it!!!) and the date pudding. Our server recommended it to me, but I passed and said I would just try it off of DH's plate. I kept eating it!!!

That must have felt soooo cool to not pack for the next cruise! Can't wait to hear more!

Yay for not having to pack up!!!

Dinner looked yummy. Glad there were enough items to still have a second choice for the next day. That's the only thing for me about the MDRs, there's usually only one option I like.

The food at Animators Palate looks good even though you had to wait.

Your firework shots turned out nice without a tripod. You might not have that long exposure but it is good to get regular shots of the fireworks.

The Palo Brunch looks very appetizing and a lot to choose from. The Mixology Class looks fun to do but I don't drink alcohol and it wouldn't be something that I might enjoy. If I did, it would be something to try.

Glad you were able to go to Parrot Cay during your trip. That restaurant looks like a nice place to have dinner.

Catching back up. I love Palo brunch. Its soooo good and I'm literally stuffed for hours. I dream of the Chicken Parm! Your mixology class looked like a lot of fun too!

You will love Remy! Just like V&A....are you doing the Remy brunch too?

Jill in CO

Your mixology class looked fun! DH is the one that drinks but we joined the FB class to have fun. It was on day 5 (our last day & a sea day). This is when I finally got to meet Jetskigrl (Patti). We live fairly close to each other.

One of our group administrators called my name to demonstrate. That was fun, except Pablo sure knows how to pile on the booze! It was so strong that DH took it w/him afterwards and drank it. Some of our drinks were different but the last one was the same. I would do another group mixology class in a heartbeat!

That would have been a short cruise if you had to get off tomorrow. You got on in San Diego, went out to sea and would get off tomorrow? I'm glad you are staying for 5 more days!!

That's a cruise to Nowhere for you! Even though they are no longer allowed, I know that if I ever do a two day cruise it needs to have another 5-6 days tacked on to it!

OMG, Alison! I feel like I have so much to catch up on!

First of all, I love your pictures of the lobby atrium seating area. Amazing that you got those shots with no one else there!

I don't know how I did that, just lucky I guess!

We went to our 1st DVC member celebration last month for 3 reasons: to receive whatever gift they had to offer, to see if there were other giveaways like they do at the Disneyland Hotel's member gathering, and for a chance at the onboard credit. Yes, I did see that he won the OBC, how cool is that?

I love your pirate costume!

That was so weird about how long it took your ship to leave. Did you ever find out what happened?

No, never heard why it took so long. It was fun getting dressed up and taking pictures.

I totally love Palo Brunch, for me the crab legs weren't as good as some that I have had even at home. But those scallops! They were really good!

The crab dip is one of my favorites. After not liking Parrot Cay so much, it's starting to grow on me, the Mixed Grill was awesome as was the next night, and that date pudding! I practically inhaled that!

That must have felt soooo cool to not pack for the next cruise! Can't wait to hear more!

It was great just leaving everything in the closet while chaos was going on around us. I'll have that in the next update.

Yay for not having to pack up!!!

Dinner looked yummy. Glad there were enough items to still have a second choice for the next day. That's the only thing for me about the MDRs, there's usually only one option I like.

It was fun, I would do it again for the right itinerary. I can understand why you might have a problem finding multiple things to eat, sometimes I do too, but this time I was lucky.

The food at Animators Palate looks good even though you had to wait.

Animator's is pretty good food, I worked it out for my second meal to have one I really liked.

Your firework shots turned out nice without a tripod. You might not have that long exposure but it is good to get regular shots of the fireworks.

Thanks. And I finally got my lens so Wednesday we are going out to the park for some dark ride photography!

The Palo Brunch looks very appetizing and a lot to choose from. The Mixology Class looks fun to do but I don't drink alcohol and it wouldn't be something that I might enjoy. If I did, it would be something to try.

There is so much good food at Palo. Mixology is really fun if you drink alcohol, but I can see where you wouldn't enjoy it so much.

Glad you were able to go to Parrot Cay during your trip. That restaurant looks like a nice place to have dinner.

It's moving up on my list of places that I like.

That "Nothing" is hilarious! Nice Job!

We got a good laugh out of it!

Catching back up. I love Palo brunch. Its soooo good and I'm literally stuffed for hours. I dream of the Chicken Parm! Your mixology class looked like a lot of fun too!

I know! The Chicken Parm is the stuff Dreams are made of!

You will love Remy! Just like V&A....are you doing the Remy brunch too?

We are doing both Remy dinner and brunch. I can't wait! Less than a month now!

Thanks. And I finally got my lens so Wednesday we are going out to the park for some dark ride photography!

Glad to read that you got your lens on Wednesday. What days are you going to the park. It won't be to long until I am back there next week. But I would guess that you are not planning on going next weekend with the Avenger's Marathon going on. It will be nice to see you down there.

I am all caught up again. The Navigator is teasing me, but just referring to the Master of the Wonder in two places without telling who it is. Who was your Captain?

What a shame you had trouble sleeping, but at least you had plenty of choice for entertainment. Oh dear regarding the forgotten room service card, ut the alternative looked nice.

It is good to know that Hristo is back at Palo. He was in the main dining rooms during our last cruise. Palo Brunch looked as lovely as ever. I wish I could have a strawberry soup and a Chicken Parmigiana right now.

Mixology looked great. I love my Margaritas, but I am not sure about a Jalapeno Margarita. The rest looked good though.

Well done for getting your next cruises sorted.

The drink of the day looks kind of interesting.

Your cocktail at dinner looked lovely. I am glad that all my favourite dishes are still on the menu. Your food looked great.

Corinna

How in the world did the waiter think he was bringing you a martini?! :confused3

I KNEW exactly what I would be getting here for my appetizer. The Truffle Pursettes, and before anyone goes off about funny food they’ve never heard of, all they really are is Cheese Raviolis in a fancy shape and a fancy name! But the sauce is really good and they are really tasty.

This dish is a MUST if it's on the menu. One can simply not skip it. It is delicious!

We didn’t even give him our room key or anything, but somehow this picture ended up in our folder with all the other pictures we took.

I'm not sure if it's cool or creepy that they do this :rotfl2:

Back to the cruise, while flipping around, I realized that I had just tuned in to the beginning of Tangled. Flynn Ryder had just stumbled upon Rapunzel’s tower and one of the first scenes I saw was the frying pan one, if you’re familiar with the movie. Well, I ended up staying up pretty much for the rest of the movie and watching it through. I have may have dozed off here and there, but saw it for the most part.

Did you like it? We just watched it last night (for the first time in a long time) and I love the lantern part. So pretty!

Looks like we weren’t getting any room service today!

Ooooh that's a bummer. But smart on you to head up to the Cove Cafe for coffee.

I don't know why I just noticed, but your nails look great! I love bright colors!

Ugh, this is the BEST DISH! I'm actually getting a craving for this...first food crave in 9 weeks :hyper: sucks I can't get it though

Palo is also known for their wood fired oven, and their signature pizzas. I had them make me a three way pizza, 1/3 each of spicy sausage, margarita, and feta with sundried tomatoes. The sausage was my favorite piece

I never thought of having them do a three way, now that is brilliant, but where is the grape pizza?!:confused3

forgot to mention this earlier, but I learned this one from Karin and Tom. You would be amazed at the Pixie dust you can spread when you give just small pieces of individually wrapped candies to the various CMs you encounter. They can’t bring a lot of stuff on the ship and chocolate candy is a real treat for them. Each person we gave the candy to was so appreciative and thankful, we felt really good for planting the pixie dust on them.

Yep that is such a great idea on their end. Hopefully one day i'll be able to use this tip!

“Sex on the Beach” when he recited the ingredients. Disney calls it “Family on the Beach.”

:rotfl2:

The first one was a Jalapeno margarita and almost nobody in the room liked it. I tolerated it, and Fran said that “it grows on you.”

I'm assuming it tastes nothing like the one at the Ditch in Epcot??

incident in my teenage years, I have never been a fan of gin

Dang girl! Most teenage girls are drinking Malibu Rum and here you are with your Bombay! :rotfl:

Yep you definitely look like a happy camper!

In the meantime other people made drinks three and four. Plus there were people next to me who didn’t show up and we began to systematically steal their drinks. I really couldn’t tell you how many extra drinks the both of us polished off! Hic!

I feel like you get the pleasure of doing this every time you do a Taste Class :thumbsup2

This was a drink that we were to make for ourselves. The bartender started some bottles at our end of the group. He started another set at the other end of the group, and he started one in the middle. Here we are making our drinks.

That is awesome!

So we made ourselves another two or three drinks, just to perfect our technique! :thumbsup2

:rotfl::rotfl2:

SpookyJuice.jpg

Cause you didn't get enough to drink at the class:lmao:You are crazy!

Can't believe she ate her nothing!

Your first two days seemed like it was exactly what you all needed to start your week long enjoyment! I want to know how many watches you have ;)

I'm glad you got the rotation you would want for the 2nd cruise!

....aaaaaaaand more food. Does it EVER STWAAAAAP?!

Needs to know what was in the creme brulee drink. That sounds right up my alley!

Nothing. TOOO funny!

Glad to read that you got your lens on Wednesday. What days are you going to the park. It won't be to long until I am back there next week. But I would guess that you are not planning on going next weekend with the Avenger's Marathon going on. It will be nice to see you down there.

We are going Wednesday, maybe tomorrow but I doubt it, I think we'll be to tired. I need to send you a text about next weekend.

I am all caught up again. The Navigator is teasing me, but just referring to the Master of the Wonder in two places without telling who it is. Who was your Captain?

I have no idea who our Captain was. Sorry the navigators are teasing you!

What a shame you had trouble sleeping, but at least you had plenty of choice for entertainment. Oh dear regarding the forgotten room service card, ut the alternative looked nice.

Yeah, I had the same thing the first night at my parents, I imagine that it was some kind of relocation sort of trepidation.

It is good to know that Hristo is back at Palo. He was in the main dining rooms during our last cruise. Palo Brunch looked as lovely as ever. I wish I could have a strawberry soup and a Chicken Parmigiana right now.

That is sad that he was in the main dining room on your last cruise. I remember you saying that. He is a wonderful Palo server and I totally enjoy having him take care of us. He has a great memory and seems to know a lot about our neck of the woods and makes wonderful small talk with us in addition to just taking good care of us as aserver.

Mixology looked great. I love my Margaritas, but I am not sure about a Jalapeno Margarita. The rest looked good though.

It was a tad bit spicy for my liking, but I wasn't going to let it go to waste! We paid for the tasting and unless I can't drink the drink at all, I'm getting my money's worth!

Well done for getting your next cruises sorted.

Yeah, I was more than happy!

The drink of the day looks kind of interesting.

It was a little weird, I liked it cause it was blue, but it wasn't the tastiest. I didn't get it on the 2nd cruise when it was the DOTD.

Your cocktail at dinner looked lovely. I am glad that all my favourite dishes are still on the menu. Your food looked great.

That one was really good! Fran helped me with it since it was so good.

How in the world did the waiter think he was bringing you a martini?! :confused3

You know I have no idea, but when he brought it somehow he thought that is what I ordered. I guess he had a short memory.

This dish is a MUST if it's on the menu. One can simply not skip it. It is delicious!

Totally! I had only tried it once before and we kind of went to extra special means to try it. Now I make sure that I get it!

I'm not sure if it's cool or creepy that they do this :rotfl2:

Exactly!

Did you like it? We just watched it last night (for the first time in a long time) and I love the lantern part. So pretty!

It's one of my favorite movies. If it wasn't I would have fallen asleep again, but because I love it so much I ended up staying asleep in the middle of the night watching it.

Ooooh that's a bummer. But smart on you to head up to the Cove Cafe for coffee.

It was either that or Goofy's and Karin and Tom made me think of the Cove.

I don't know why I just noticed, but your nails look great! I love bright colors!

I was trying to match the color of the funnel, but I got more the Halloween on the High Seas theme.

Ugh, this is the BEST DISH! I'm actually getting a craving for this...first food crave in 9 weeks :hyper: sucks I can't get it though

I'm sorry, I wish I could get it now too!

I never thought of having them do a three way, now that is brilliant, but where is the grape pizza?!:confused3

I'm not that big of a fan of the grape pizza, I'm more a traditional type of gal.

Yep that is such a great idea on their end. Hopefully one day i'll be able to use this tip!

Even if you aren't going to be back on that ship, it's really fun to make the CMs happy since they work so hard to make us happy!

Dang girl! Most teenage girls are drinking Malibu Rum and here you are with your Bombay! :rotfl:

Actually it wasn't Bombay, I just was able to steal more gin from my folks than other spirits. I guess they didn't like gin as much. We had been drinking from a "stash" that I had stolen from my parents over the course of a year or so. They had a lot of gin so I kept taking more. When it came down to drinking it, the gin was the one I had most of. I didn't know anything about liquor and had not idea how gin was, I just knew I had a lot of it in my stolen stores!

Yep you definitely look like a happy camper!

::yes::

I feel like you get the pleasure of doing this every time you do a Taste Class :thumbsup2

No we only luck out every other or third tme!

That is awesome!

We are nothing if not opportunistic! It was Fran's idea!

Cause you didn't get enough to drink at the class:lmao:You are crazy!

Yes I am, but I only live once, and after the years of taking care of her parents I have no apologies for letting loose every so often and especially in a safe envirnonment like a Disney Cruise. Besides, we took a nap afterwards!

Can't believe she ate her nothing!

She said it was one of the best desserts she had!

Your first two days seemed like it was exactly what you all needed to start your week long enjoyment! I want to know how many watches you have ;)

I'm glad you got the rotation you would want for the 2nd cruise!

You know I really have NO idea how many watches that she has, but I'm guessing hundreds. Hopefully not over a thousand, but if she did I wouldn't be surprised. I was very happy about the second rotation since we would have Triton's on Dress Up day.

....aaaaaaaand more food. Does it EVER STWAAAAAP?!

Needs to know what was in the creme brulee drink. That sounds right up my alley!

Nothing. TOOO funny!

No the food never stops on a cruise. Ok, the Crème Brulee drink was Grey Goose, Bailey's irish Crème, Amaretto, Caramel Syrup and Half and Half.

A 2 night cruise?
Wow! That's a short vacay. :confused3
But YAY for not having to pack and your vacay going for much longer.

Glad that Fran got a working watch.

It was strange having to decide what I would have tonight knowing I wanted something different tomorrow.

About as strange as having to work out which dining location you're going to eat at 6 months in advance! :p
At least, you don't have too long to wait to enjoy your selection.

Fran asked for “Nothing” and that’s what our servers gave her.

:rotfl:

Well....looks like she ate Nothing!
