Soooo I’m going to GCV for Halloween and 11/1. Not sure why I never thought of this before, but I’ll be right next door when the new promos release! With VDH sales very slow and the thread that said GFV is now sold out..makes me wonder. Will they have a fire sale on BDH like they did GCV back in the day?

Most importantly, I need Addonitis support in the worst way. I’m itching to buy there and thinking if the price is even remotely right, I’ll cave in. Please tell me why I should not buy VDH on Weds.. no matter what the incentive is. TIA

Dues. /thread

Just kidding but realistically one thing that would make me have second thoughts is would I rather use that money on a VGC contract instead and be as close as possible to the parks and DTD? That being said the accommodations are very nice and can give you the flexibility to be used as SAP compared to VGC which really shouldn't be used anywhere else.

Edit: just saw your other post about your feelings about VGC so I guess you won’t have to worry about the VGC struggle!

eh, trick or treat day, if you can swing it financially, I say go for it. What are DVC points but to be enjoyed? Get them now and enjoy them sooner! VDH will appreciate significantly if Disney Forward even remotely looks like the proposals so you can feel good about your "investment." VDH has location location location over the remaining direct sales resorts. And perhaps most importantly, you need to buy now so you can start saving up for Poly2!

But there is no rush to get the points, you have most of 2024 depending on your UY to get the "max" use out of your points. It does not seem like the incentives are getting better or worst for VDH which makes sense as its the newest. Prices might not "crash" but it should dip as sales slow over the economy and as the "newness" of VDH wears off a bit. If you finance, the rates are quite high right now and with the first VDH resale listed, it does not hurt to see how the secondary market begins to look like before you buy direct.

I know complaining about the TOT at VDH has gotten old but to me it's still a very valid issue. I have a 4 night stay coming up at VGC that would have cost 8 fewer points if I had VDH points, but an additional $370 in TOT. For me this really takes away from the appeal of VDH. Someone on Facebook posted about their stay in a 3BR in VDH and all I could think was that not only was that hundreds of points, it's also something like $400/night in TOT. I know you'd pay the taxes for any room booked in Anaheim, but there are a lot of hotels I could live with for far less in price.

To be fair… you don’t book a Grand Villa just to “live with it”…. it’s an experience that you are knowingly paying a premium for.

I’m not going to be helpful at all. I just checked out today from my garden view room and while I had issues, it was overall still a really nice staycation for me. One of my favorite things was sitting out in my patio after the pool had closed and the lights and palm trees and no one around was just so peaceful and beautiful. I had just got back after closing out Trader Sam’s too and it’s just a really nice way to end the night. I love the theme and design of the resort. I don’t love VGC either like you. I’ve been checking regularly though for a possible resale for VGC but now I may just want to add on more points at VDH. Just cave and buy in so I can welcome you home as a co-owner. 😅

Well, for sure, I wasn't intending to say that the GV wasn't worth the premium, it was just an example of the high cost both points-wise and dollar-wise.

Decidedly not helpful but ultimately the response is secretly hoped for 😂😂

I’m sitting on an extremely comfy pool chair right now at GVC and it’s stellar! I love the proximity and services but it’s just not “magical’ just can’t explain it. I may or may not have made a DVC appointment tomorrow morning. What can I say, I went to the DVC lounge and willingly begged for a tour lol. Wish me luck ❤️

Follow up question: Could any of the lack of magic be solved by a really nice room remodel?

Sooooo plot twist. On my way to the airport from my GCV stay/VDH purchase. After seeing the rooms at VDH it turned me back into not liking the resort. With the call out that a VDH resale contract would make it pricier in tax than VB, that caused a pause, but not a huge one. I had requested a higher CC limit anti paying purchasing VDH today.. but, nope.

To my complete surprise, I fell back I love with GCV. Not the decor but the relaxed & homey feel that VDH lacks a lot! While I’m VDH I felt like I was in an art gallery or something..not comfortable or welcoming at all. And. A pool day with bar service at the pool was a deal breaker. Long story short, I’m in the market for GCV 😳😂😳.

My own indecisiveness over the past 15 years and how drastically my vacation tastes change make me reiterate. But where you want to stay today! Staying anywhere for 50 years is unlikely. Just my perspective. FWIW

No I don’t think so. The structural details are set. Hard to explain but it feels like a good quality Marriott? Truly not magical imo. And that’s in the best room with the best view. Can’t imagine what the standard views would be 😳

Wow. I have such a 180 degree view. I feel like VDH is more like a high quality Marriott and and that VGC is true resort. You can literally get a view into a theme park….

Disclosure: We only stay in 1BD or higher villas… so I can’t speak to the studio experience.

I agree with this. I was describing VDH the same as you, didn’t specify I was describing VDH as a Marriott . Mia culpa 👍🏻
