Just Pretend the Raindrops are Snowflakes!~A 12/11 TR! *Trip Wrap Up! Pg 21, 2/23!*

I felt so bad that you had rain every day and that you basically weren't feeling well the entire time. That just stinks.

I read your post about dinner at the Rose & Crown and I'm like "get the scotch egg!" My friend makes those and they're pretty great. Also, I always recommend potato leek soup. My mom has been making it for as long as I can remember and for sure it's one of my favorite soups.

I had to laugh when Brandon was saying the egg was disgusting because in my head I was saying " watch him order it anyways" and he did!!! LOL

Never been to R&C or done CP! Both seemed really cool to try in the future!!!

Ugh to the rain!!! BUT yay that it didn't pour the whole time! That's a plus in my book ;)

That ornament was so pretty!!! And that tshirt was cute, but I would never have bought it if it was expensive either! I talk myself out of so much disney stuff if I think it is just too over priced! LOL :D

I bet the next people would have enjoyed the window decorations, but I presume mousekeeping probably took them down :( Your window looked so cute though! I loved it!!!

I'm so sad this TR is over, BUT you will have a PTR starting soon for your May trip so I won't be sad for long! :D

Jen - I am sorry to see this TR come to a close. You seem so anxious to be over it. I do feel bad you were so sick and you ended up with so much rain. It's ironic that I was supposed to go that weekend but ended up changing.

I sat at exactly those seats at R&C to see Illuminations and I have the steak and fish too (Brandon's meal). Loved it. It was such a great spot.

I love CP and I'm a little sad that I didn't do it this trip, but I will definitely do it next time. I really think the whole program is so inspirational.

You got some lovely pictures in this update. Looking forward to your final thoughts.

Haha, yeah, I am a little anxious to be over it! Probably because of the rain and sickness, it just wasn't what I was hoping it would be! :confused3

The CP is really beautiful, and I really liked that Rose and Crown was our CP dinner package restaurant! It just seemed like the best choice for something Christmasy, and the table we got was awesome!

Thanks, I'm hoping to go through my responses quickly and get to my very last post, but that might have to wait til tomorrow!

Ahhhh okay... I've never seen that! Yeah, I dunno who she is so I don't think I would have been all that excited to see her. But yes, seeing Ariel was completely amazing! She sounded just the same. :goodvibes

No, I flew Jet Blue. Are the different airlines at different gates? But my flight landed at about 12:20 so we were definitely at the airport at the same time for a little while!

Hahah I can't blame you there!

I think Jet Blue is in a different Terminal, but I might be wrong...all I know is, when we did fly Jet Blue, I felt like I was in a whole different airport, it seemed very 80's over there, compared to where Southwest is!

I'm sorry to see your TR is over!!! :(

DBF SO wants to try a Scotch egg one of these days...they sound weird to me too, but I'm sure I'd like them .

The Candlelight Processional looks gorgeous! Too bad you had to sit in the rain during it though!

Aww, thanks!

Ew, I could never try one of those Scotch Eggs, but Brandon was obsessed with it!

It was annoying that it rained before the CP, but at least it slowed to a sprinkle by the time it started! You would think I would have been used to the rain at that point! :rotfl2:

The CP is awesome. Man, all these Christmas things make me want to go back at that time so badly!

haha, my mom actually bought one of those snowman ornaments in that one picture. It's so cute.

Bummer it's over already but atleast now you have your May trip to look forward to.

The CP is great, I'm glad we finally went! I love going at Christmas, I hope you get to go back at that time this year!

The ornaments in that shop are so cute, they're all so different from the other ones you see around the parks!

I can't WAIT for my May trip! I got so excited for it today, when I realized we only have a little over 2 months to go!

So I'm a bad DISer and lurked through your whole TR, but just letting you know I really enjoyed it! We absolutely loved our Christmas December trip, and seeing your pictures brought back great memories. Sucks that you were sick for most of the trip. But at least you will be back soon!

Haha, don't feel bad, I lurk through lots of TR's too! I'm glad you liked my TR, it really wasn't one of my favorites to write! :rotfl: But going to Disney for the holidays is always awesome no matter what! :cool1:

Sad your trip is over but glad you're going back in May!

BTW I planted the seed tonight about going back to WDW for a mini-trip in December! Your description of the CP is what really got him thinking... I'm not allowed to do anything yet (he won't even let me email DVC Guy to ask him about availability!) but after our July trip when our finances have hopefully been worked out a little better, I'll know for sure. It would be cool to go just for a few days but we'll see!

OMG I hope you get to do a mini trip in December, that would be awesome! If you do, you should get AP's in July...which of course, means you will be trying to plan all sorts of Disney trips if you do get one!

I am sad your TR is over! I have loved reading it but am looking forward to May PTR ,hint, hint;)

The potato soup at Rose and Crown looked good! I am going to try that hopefully when we go in October.

I am with you...I want an all Disney tree for Christmas. I have started collecting the Mickey head ornaments and loved seeing the picture of the ornament. I have to check out that shop!:goodvibes

Thanks! I'll be starting my PTR this weekend, definitely! I can't wait to start talking about my May trip! :woohoo:

The potato soup is really good, I was pleasantly surprised!

A Disney Christmas tree sounds amazing, doesn't it! I have lots of Disney ornaments, but not enough to fill a whole tree yet, hopefully I will in a few years! If you like Disney ornaments, definitely go to the shop in Germany, everything is adorable!

Great TR!! Soooo sorry you were sick but it was so nice to read about all of the fun Christmas-y things you guys did and see the gorgeous pictures! The CP sounds really amazing-- I love Lorraine Bracco! Ahhh, I need to make a Christmas trip happen!
Haha I guess yorkshire puddings are kind of tastless dough, but the first ones Zach and I had were at Rose and Crown and we LOVED them! We've made them a couple of times at home with gravy and still love them!

Thanks! I hope you get to go on a Christmas trip soon, it's such a great time of year to visit!

I think I'd like Yorkshire pudding better if I had it somewhere different, because I like the concept of it...I just think the one I had wasn't that great. Who knows though, Brandon liked his!

I know it wasn't the best trip for you, but I still enjoyed reading about it.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :goodvibes

I really enjoyed reading your trip report! We were there Dec. 3-8 so it was fun to read about what you did, where you ate, etc. I love the way you tell all - the good, the bad and the ugly :lmao: Even though you weren't 100%, it seemed like you did a lot and did end up enjoying your trip. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Haha, I thought about not doing a TR at all for this trip, because I thought the whole thing might be too negative, but...sometimes that's the way trips go! There were still more good things than bad, and I tried to make the best of it! It's Disney, after all! :lovestruc

I love that Brandon calls his dad when he has something especially good to eat. It's totally something my fella would do...must be a guy thing! :rotfl:

Your night time Germany photo is AH-MAY-ZING. Anyone would believe it was really taken in Germany!

I'm glad you guys had a good time in spite of the weather and you not feeling well!

Haha, I know, it's so funny that he does that! I wish his parents would come with us on a trip sometime, all we would do is eat!

Thanks! I really love that picture in Germany, it's so pretty at night, all lit up for Christmas!

We did have a good time, but I'm really hoping I'm not sick again in Disney for a LONG time! It just takes so much out of you!

Oh my!! I'm gone from Dis for a few weeks and now your done with your TR!! Boo!!

It sounds like you had a great last day, aside from the dumb rain!!

I've never been to R&C but I have to try it at some point! That table must be great for Illuminations!

LOVE CP!! I can't tell you how much I loved it!!

Your Illuminations pics are amazing!

Glad your trip home was good aside from the turbulence!!

Haha, well, I kind of sped through it at the end! Are you going to finish your December TR?

It was a nice last day, I love being in Epcot for a long time, spending a whole day there is always great! R&C is really good, and the table would be awesome for Illuminations!

Thanks! Ugh, the turbulence was really nerve-wracking, but luckily I didn't freak out too much, I'm such a nervous flier to begin with!

Thanks! Yeah, the rain and the sickness were obnoxious. More the sickness. I feel like if I wasn't sick, I wouldn't have cared about the rain that much. Oh well, my May trip is going to be bright, sunny, and sickness-free! :)

I can't even imagine a scotch egg being good! But Brandon liked it, and I think it's pretty popular, so I guess I'm in the minority! I just can't imagine eating a hard boiled egg, I never have and probably never will! The potato soup is awesome!

I'm so sad this TR is over, BUT you will have a PTR starting soon for your May trip so I won't be sad for long! :D

Haha, yeah, he does that! And then ends up loving things he assumes will be gross! R&C is really good, we've been there twice now and loved it both times!

Most Disney stuff is overpriced, so I always have to decide what I really, really want! If I could buy everything, I'd probably be a Disney hoarder!

I can't wait to start my May PTR! I love writing TR's, but I'm ready to start planning again!

Wrap It Up!

Well my friends, the time has come to wrap up this little TR! When I got home from this trip, I debated even doing a TR, because I didn't want to seem to negative, and I knew this wasn't one of our best trips. In fact, of all the Disney trips Brandon and I have been on together, this was definitely my least favorite. But I did want to share at the good parts, and there were lots of good parts, so I figured, why not share the good and bad?

The highlights of this trip were:

P1010304.jpg

The castle dream lights! I can't get enough of the castle lit up, I wish it was like that all year!

P1010295.jpg

The Holiday Sleigh Ride! It's such a nice way to relax away from the parks for a little while, and still do something fun! And the displays are amazing!

IMG_0991.jpg

The Holiday Sandwich at Earl of Sandwich. Yes, this is one really one of the highlights of my trip, it is THAT good!

P1010385.jpg

The carolers at the Yacht Club. I really, really love the Yacht Club for Christmas, if we ever go again in December, I'm definitely staying there!

P1010775.jpg

The Candlelight Processional! I love Christmas music and songs, so this was perfect for me!

P1010576.jpg

My solo ride on the Peoplemover! Don't get me wrong, I'd obviously rather go on rides with Brandon, but it's nice to know I have the option of going alone, now that I've faced that fear! :thumbsup2

The not so good parts of the trip:

-The rain. I don't want to whine about it raining in Disney. I know it's Florida. I know you have to expect it. But between the last 2 days of our October trip, and it raining EVERY day in December, I'm done. I'm over it. I need my next few trips to be rain free. It's really annoying stomping through puddles, wearing ponchos, being soaked all day...I can handle maybe one or two days, but a whole trip of rain? Not cool! :sad2:

-Being sick. I could not believe I got sick, like, the second we arrived in Disney. :sad1: I tried to make the best of it, but my throat was hurting SO badly at times, I wanted to cry. I didn't like that I was basically living off Advil for days, and that I couldn't sleep very well because my nose was so stuffed. It left me with no energy to tour the parks like I like to do. I'm just glad we did as much as we did, because if I was home, I would have been in bed!

-Tony's. I just could not believe how awful that lasagna was that Brandon ordered. We won't be going back for a long time! It's too bad, because it's such a cute restaurant, and my chicken was good, but if that lasagna was that awful, I'm sure other things are awful as well. :confused3

The resort:

We LOVED staying in Pop! I'm not going to lie, I love the deluxes! But it's not always practical to stay in one, and since Disney seems to actually be lessening the discounts, our deluxe days might be over soon, so it's nice to know that we can stay at Pop and be happy! We had a great location, right next to Classic Hall, so it was a short walk to the food court, which was awesome. The room was nice. The pool looked nice, even though we didn't use it. The food at the food court was really good, I loved everything that I ate there! I'd have no problem staying there again! :thumbsup2

Oh yes, and I LOVED decorating my window!

IMG_1039.jpg

I guess that's it! Thank you all so much for reading and sticking with me through this TR, I know it got a little whiney at some parts! :rolleyes1 I hope you will all join me when I start my May PTR! Oh, and I still have almost half of my October trip to write about in my "One More Waffle" TR, I hope you will all still join me over there! I will start updating that one again asap, maybe even tomorrow if I have time, I'm really looking forward to picking that up again, I loved that trip! :lovestruc Thanks again for reading, I'm so glad to have so many awesome DIS friends to share my trips with!

I really enjoyed this TR! Thanks for sharing even though it wasn't your best trip. I hope that you don't get ANY rain in May!

ALSO, I have to say that when I went to Tony's for lunch on my first trip (which was only a year and a half ago) that my family loved it! None of us had the lasagna, but I had some type of flatbread (I clearly was not a Diser back then) and it was seriously some of the best pizza/flatbread/whatever that I'd ever had! I loved it so much. It only seems to be on the lunch menu though. ALSO the tiramisu was SO good. Wow.

Anyways... are you gonna put a link up on your October TR to your May PTR? I'll definitely join in whenever that starts! :thumbsup2

You needed to be there during MY weekend. That's what was wrong. Our weather was so much better even though it was cloudy for a couple days. But there was literally no rain.

You had some really great highlights! Im definitely doing CP next time I go during Christmas.

Your window is adorable. :goodvibes

In some ways your trip reminds me of my May 2010 when I had the evil D and we were traveling with friends who weren't totally into Disney. But you know what - my next trip was amazing and I was back in the saddle again. I'm sure the same thing will happen with you! :thumbsup2

Wow, how in the world did I get 11 pages behind?! Well, catching up now...

How cool that there were carolers at the Yacht Club! I had no idea they did that.

Beautiful Osborne Lights pictures! So pretty. That's awesome that you spotted the cat too.

Nice that ToT had no line! :cool1:

Awesome that you got a free turkey leg for Brandon's gobbling!

I'm glad you got a chance to wander around Pop a bit.

That breakfast panini looks pretty good. And, mmmmm, yummy La Cava margaritas!

That's awesome that you got a solo ride in on the Peoplemover. :thumbsup2

How weird that Nemo had that long of a line! That's always the one where I wonder why they even have all those queue areas.

I think I preferred the cloudberry horn to the school bread too. Cool that there was a band in Mexico playing Christmas music!

Rose & Crown sounds good and that view is great. Someday we'll have to get there.

I can't believe it rained again after your beautiful last day! :sad2:

Bummer on all the turbulence on the way home!

Looking forward to your May TR and I hope it is bright, sunny, and sickness-free! :goodvibes

Thanks! Haha, I hope we don't get any rain either! Maybe a nice, refreshing afternoon shower, like ONE day, but that's all I could handle!

Brandon and I went to Tony's on our Disneymoon in 2010 and we loved it too! That's why we wanted to go back, everything we had was so good, Brandon even took pics of his dessert and put it on Facebook, so I know he loved it! It was so disappointing this time! I'll probably go there again, but not for a very long time, maybe they will improve it a little!

I will definitely put up a link to my May PTR on my October TR, maybe even here too! I can't wait to get started! :woohoo:

It's too bad we didn't go when you did, it seems like you had great weather! Ah well, hopefully next time will be better! :thumbsup2

Thanks, there were many great moments on this trip, but it was definitely the most disappointing trip yet. :sad1: I just couldn't deal with the rain and being sick, especially since I had such a horrible sore throat, which I never get! When I came back to work that week, everyone had sore throats, there was some weird sore throat virus going around, so it figures I'd pick that up right before my trip! :sad2:

I remember your trip with the evil D, that was the first TR of yours that I read! I remember thinking how annoying that must have been! Well, now I know how annoying it is to be sick at Disney! I have a feeling our May trip is going to be amazing, I really do! I can't wait! :lovestruc

Bummer on all the turbulence on the way home!

Looking forward to your May TR and I hope it is bright, sunny, and sickness-free! :goodvibes

Haha, wow, you were far behind! :rotfl2:

I loved all the Christmas stuff, but the carolers at the Yacht Club were just amazing, it was seriously like we walked into a movie or something! We were totally immersed in Christmas, which is what I was looking for! :thumbsup2

I didn't try Brandon's cloudberry horn, but if we ever go back to that bakery, maybe I'll get that! Or that almond pretzel, I've been wanting to try that forever too!

I can't believe it rained every single day on this trip! I guess it was bound to happen, since most of our other trips were rain free, but wow, between the last couple days in October and 5 days in December, it really made up for it! :rotfl:

Thanks! :goodvibes I hope for the same things on our May trip!! :cool1:

Thanks for sharing your trip, and writing this report!

I don't think it was whinny at all....you told it like it was...the good and bad.
Unfortunately, you were sick and it rained....2 things no one wants to experience on vacation...but, you certainly made the MOST of it!....more than a lot of people I know...seriously.
and you had some really good parts!

I'll still be following along on your "Waffle" TR and can't wait for your May PTR!!

Oh no on this trip being your worst sweetie  I really enjoyed reading your TR and hearing about all the ups and downs.

Wow the castle lit up looks amazing! Sounds like you had quite a few highlights though as well and I love Pop as well though am looking forward to staying at a deluxe one day lol!

Your dinner at R & C sounds delicious! The picture of your meal reminded me of how our Sunday dinner's looked as kids....we always had roast on Sunday!!

I am so with you girl on freaking out with turbulence! My favorite thing is if the pilot comes on before we start our departure and tells us it's clear and will be a smooth flight the whole way....completely different store if he says it's going to be rough....not good, I look like this:scared1:

Sad your TR is over:sad2:

I just got caught up on the last couple of updates - I didn't realize you were so close to the end of the trip (either that or I forgot )!

I know what you mean about not being excited to share the bad moments (as that's going on on my TR now! Haha), but I'm very glad you decided to do the TR. As always, I loved following along with you and Brandon. I always feel like I'm right there with you! You are a wonderful writer! :thumbsup2

I can't wait for the next PTR! I can't believe your next trip is already so close! :woohoo:

As far as I'm concerned you had the right to be whiney! You were sick and it rained the whole trip! Although to be honest, I didn't find you very whiney at all!

We won't know about a possible December trip until after we come in July...BUT if we DO go back in December, I'd buy annual passes then so that when we go in October 2013, we'll be covered!

Great TR! Can't wait til you get started on May! :woohoo:

You know, I realized that I don't really understand that whole 'an XXX day at Disney is better than the best day at home' or whatever. Because, quite frankly, it's not! There's lots of things that can happen at Disney (wall-to-wall crowds, a hurricane, etc) where I would definitely prefer to be at home! I was trying to come up with a touring plan/whatever for whatever to do on a rainy/sick vacation, and I couldn't really come up with anything. Riding the monorail, drinking medicinal screwdrivers, and maybe seeing Yeehaa Bob at Port Orleans.. but that's kind of a waste of money.

I miss Tony's breakfast so much. They really need to bring it back because really, who can mess up breakfast? I love Lady and the Tramp so much but don't really want to risk the current meals at Tony's, especially when the Plaza is right down Main Street.

Your window is so adorable!

Thanks for reading! I tried not to be too whiney in this TR, it could have been a lot worse  but there were some good times on this trip, even if it didn't go the way I had hoped!

I was going to start my May PTR today, but it might have to wait til tomorrow. Although the stupid Daytona 500 is on, and I know Brandon wants to watch that, so I might get in some DIS time while he's doing that, since I can't stand Nascar! :rotfl:

Oh no on this trip being your worst sweetie  I really enjoyed reading your TR and hearing about all the ups and downs.

Wow the castle lit up looks amazing! Sounds like you had quite a few highlights though as well and I love Pop as well though am looking forward to staying at a deluxe one day lol!

Thanks! :goodvibes I mean, it was my worst trip compared to all of my other Disney trips, this was my 10th trip all together, so one of them had to be not so great, right? :rotfl: And I'm planning to make up for it in May! :thumbsup2

Pop is adorable, I love the deluxe resorts, but it's nice to know Pop is there too, and we like it almost as much as the WL!

R&C was so good! Mmmm, having roast every Sunday must have been awesome, I should start that tradition! :rotfl:

OMG I would freak out if the pilot told us right away if the flight was going to be rough, thankfully, that hasn't happened yet! :scared1: It's one thing if we're already in the air, but while we're still on the ground? AHHH! I'm already afraid of flying as it is!

Thanks! You can come over to my October TR, if you want, there are still a few more days to go on that one, and that one is actually a lot more entertaining than this one!

I just got caught up on the last couple of updates - I didn't realize you were so close to the end of the trip (either that or I forgot )!

I can't wait for the next PTR! I can't believe your next trip is already so close! :woohoo:

Haha, well, I kind of flew through the last few updates!

Thanks! It's not fun writing about the bad parts of a trip, you never think you will have any when you go to Disney, but it happens, unfortunately! I guess you just have to make the best of it, or go home!

I can't believe my next trip is so close either! I can't wait for it to me March so we're only 2 months away! :woohoo:

As far as I'm concerned you had the right to be whiney! You were sick and it rained the whole trip! Although to be honest, I didn't find you very whiney at all!

Great TR! Can't wait til you get started on May! :woohoo:

Haha, thanks! I thought I was a little whiney, but it's nice to hear that it wasn't so bad! :rotfl2:

That's a good plan for your AP's if you end up getting them! I hope you get to do your December trip, I'm already thinking about a Christmas trip this year!

Thanks, I can't wait either! Hopefully later today, if not, then definitely tomorrow!

You know, I realized that I don't really understand that whole 'an XXX day at Disney is better than the best day at home' or whatever. Because, quite frankly, it's not! Your window is so adorable!

Being sick at Disney is miserable, but I'm glad I wasn't so sick that I felt like I needed to be in bed all day! If I was home I probably would have! The rain is annoying, but at least there are some things you can do in the rain, like all of the indoor rides, but the combination of being sick and it raining a lot is awful! :sad2: I never thought to go to POR, that's a good idea! :thumbsup2

I really have to try the Plaza, I hear such great things about it! I just never bother, because it seems like it's just sandwiches, right? And I love LTT so much that if I'm going to eat in MK, I like eating there! I wish Tony's had breakfast...I wish it was a character breakfast with Lady and the Tramp characters, that would be so awesome! :lovestruc

Wow, you really got through this TR quickly! But it was nice catching up... wow, I've said that a lot, I think I may actually enjoy catching up then following chapter-by-chapter lol A CHALLENGE! Well, I loved hearing more about what goes on at the World during the holidays since I've never been down during that time and I love seeing the decorations too. Definitely staying at Yacht Club now because of this TR ;) Also, love how you referenced good ole' Union Oyster House, really want to go there, heard so much about their Clam Chowder my favorite soup :) Well... I hope you have no more trips where you get sick (no fun getting sick in Disney, eck!) and that, as always, you have many Disney trips to come in the future years! :mickeyjum
