just out of curiosity, anyone flying on 9-11?

i hadn't even thought about it, but it turns out my daughter is flying then and that's why her ticket was $300 less than the days before or after....

anyone else encounter cheaper flights on 9-11?

half price would have been nice ! $300 was just over 20% less than the other days...

i really didn't pay attention to the date...
when she was making the reservation, everything was almost totally booked up....every other day had only 1 or 2 seats left and they were all $300 more....
so she booked that day....we didn't notice the date as we were focussed on whether it was on monday/tuesday/etc.....
only later did she notice that it was 9-11, so we're surmising that maybe there was less demand for that day and so the price was lower...

Monday is normally a more expensive day to travel because of business but there will be some factor in the price for sure.

My first flight shortly after 9-11 was UC to Jo'burg and it was a strange feeling trying to convince yourself that there was probably not a safer time to travel.
The flight was actually quite busy, no doubt with South Africans needing to get home and a 70K mile bonus for UC helping.

nice bonus....we use all our FF miles to upgrade to business, so they come in handy...(we also convert all of our credit card points to FF points)...

i just saw a documentary on 9/11 on the national geographic channel last night....but i think it was a British production (maybe BBC, but i didn't look at the credits)...it was several episodes long, but they showed them one after the other....i happened upon it as i was flipping channels looking for something to watch and then i couldn't flip away....they of course showed 9-11 itself with lots of little stories of people who helped others and were never seen again..

but the last episode was on one of the terrorist organizers....i wasn't aware that he had been in the US army and in the CIA...unbelievable...
and when he was in the army he was openly radical....he expressed extreme beliefs, even on military produced films.....(some sort of english/culture/training films)....they showed the films on the documentary....one colonel kept writing reports to the pentagon about him...multiple reports expressing concern.....but nothing was done....unbelievable....

My in-laws are there at the moment and return on 09/11.

Aparantly they are bullodozing the Meracado complex at the moment..... 'bout time too !

They went last year also but we have never been.
As long as they have a good time thats all i'm thinking about just now
