Ahhh Tivo.. it sounds so great.

Thanks to Amazon and a rebate (and a $20 coupon that I had acquired), I was able to order a Series2 set for just over $60 (after rebate and all). So, who has one, and will I love it?

I can't wait to set it to all the travel channel shows I always miss..

Thanks as always everyone!

You'll enjoy!!. I watch very little TV but have several Wish lists programmed into the TiVo and it always gets them. I check it a few times a week and there they are, LOL. I can watch, rather quickly, erase and then DIS, LOL. :) Have fun, read the directions.

You will love it!! How many hours did you get? We got the 140 hours.. We record most things on atleast medium because the picture quality is lower so we use more space then we did on the replaytv (we had it less then a month and it broke) But it's been great.

It has completely changed the way we watch tv. We pretty much only watch stuff that is on the tivo-- the down side is, we don't ever watch the news anymore- and listening to cd's in the car.. we never know what is going on. I really like that I don't feel tied to the tv-- I don't have to worry about being home and there is always something to watch at 3 am. I also have no patience for commercials, the only downside I've found about that is that i don't see any movie trailers.

We had a few problems to work out at first.. between DH and I, we couldn't agree on the order of the season passes. We've since worked it out.. but it was bad enough for a few days that we thought about buying a second tivo.

there is a great forum for tivo-- tivocommunity.com They have alot of advice about getting started, tips and tricks, what's on and upcoming features. There are some really nice folks from tivo on there too.

Oh another thing-- check out the home media stuff. I set up the music server the other day and absolutely love it.. I can play music from my pc upstairs, on the stereo downstairs. It's been wonderful.

Have fun with it!

I just got the 40 hour one..since it was such a deal and it's just for me at school (although my family may become intrigued and we'll be getting more). Hopefully that's enough space. I'm going to check out the website, thanks for the suggestion. It's coming Friday... so I'll have all weekend!

It will change the way you watch TV since you can't channel surf like you used to. You get used to it quickly though. I like being able to pause a program and then fast forwarding through the commercials.

I have 2 TiVos.

The first one I got about 3 or 4 years ago. It's a 60 hour series 1.

I love it so much that I bought a second one (thanks a lot Thursday night TV!) that has a DVD recorder in it. On top of the regular TiVo features I can also import in my home movies (or anything else from VHS or a video camera) and put it on DVD. The thing I love best about it is that I don't have cable in my loft, but I have a DVD player there. So I dump a bunch of shows off from my Tivo to a DVD-RW and can watch them in there.

I heart my TiVos.

Love It! I actually have 3 of them. Mainly for the pause feature and the onscreen guide. We actually have our original in a closet. Bought our first one for $300 when it came out and it only had 14 hours. All of the new ones have 36 hours and 2 tuners. I never watch anything that is not tivo'ed. I even record the news.

hehee - after seeing the Thursday night line up this fall, I need to invest in a SECOND Tivo.

I love mine...if I had to choose between my cell phone and Tivo - take the cell phone!

We have the DirecTV with Tivo box...40 hours I think? Haven't come close to filling it up. I could care less for most day-time TV, so I dont' Tivo anythign while at work (unless there are Disney specials on the travel channel!) I like being able to fast-forward through stuff...I HATE when I'm watching "live tv" and pick up the remote to fast forward and I can't. hehe

It really is great though - DH can record all his hockey games, I get all my "crappy shows" as he calls it.

Right now I have The Lion King 1 1/2 saved on it that i recorded on Sunday...still need to get around to watching it!

takes a little while to get used to - but I think you'll enjoy it. (although, we bought one for my MIL, she really didn't like it that much...so I guess it really isn't for everyone...)

after a while you will get tired of it, and not use it much anymore

I think you'll love it! I have a ReplayTV and I can't imagine watching TV without it. My DD even learned to pause live TV so she would use the potty :).

We have two Tivos also. DH has one in the den that records all his boat, home improvement, and golf shows. The one in the family room records my reality shows and DD's cartoons. DH has them set up so that they can import shows from one tv to the other.

We had 2 TiVos before we moved into our house--in the middle of the woods! Now we can't get satellite reception so we have cable. Comcast hasn't come out with DVR in our area yet, so I'm going crazy. It was really nice to be able to watch things whenever you want. DH and I are gone a lot during the weeknights, but we like to keep up with a few programs--now we had to buy a VCR and that only tapes one channel:(

The best part is pausing and rewinding live TV. I miss that the most. We've been without for almost a year and I still forget that I can't rewind the show if I took a phone call or missed something!

We had 140 hours on ours, but we were pretty good about watching and deleting so never had more than about 25 hours on the TiVo.

Have fun!

I don't love it. I don't hate it either. It took some getting used to, and it is convenient.

I'm not totally wowed, but it is conveneint.

I find that I am almost filled up most of the time. Right now we only have a few spongebob episodes, one rescue me, and two half hour TV specials for my class. .. how is that filled up if we hae 40 hours?

Its better taping than the VCR though. I'm glad it was free.

I have a DVR through my cable company and I absolutely LOVE it!! I wouldn't trade it for anything.

lilpritch04,

You shouldn't need satellite or a special DVR box to use with Comcast. Unless you had one of the Hughes boxes which only worked with satellite, I would expect your old TiVo boxes to work with Comcast. There were advantages to having cable hooked up to my ReplayTV v/s satallite. We could split the signal and watch one cable channel while recording another.

I LOVE my TiVo! I am thinking about asking for another one for Christmas. It has really changed the way I watch TV, and I'm so glad I have it. ::yes::

Love it!! We've had ours almost 3 yrs. I work nights so its great to know that I can still watch all the shows I would normally watch if I was home.

Yes, you will love your Tivo. My BF could not live without his.

I like it because I watch alot of stuff on the History and Discovery channels and I like being able to have it record things with keywords. :)
