Just off the phone DVC-never heard of EPCOT wind down?

Set my coworker and his wife up at BCV, they asked if they could help with any ressies.

Sure, can I buy them the EPCOT Wind Down for one eve as a gift?

No idea what I was talking about-said EMH is free.

Anyway they would check and call me back. Oh yea-I guess that is a real thing, but you can't pay for them because your credit card will be different.

Good grief. :rolleyes2

Not surprising. It was just announced about 10 days ago.

Disney fans may gobble up the latest happenings on a daily basis but to thousands of people, working for Disney is just like any other job.

No matter the employer, most workers don't immediately absorb every change / announcement / memo as its published. If the CM hadn't heard of it before, he/she had obviously never been asked by any guests. So not exactly a hot topic around the water cooler.

I can see that-just seems like they might be at a computer and could google epcot wind down at the very least.

If they have internet access at all, it's probably very restricted. Even if they can google it, that's not going to tell them where on the Disney systems it's located to book it.

It must be, even disney.com you simply enter it in the search

I think she asked about dining reservations-not sure how she intended to find any without a computer.

I just booked the Wind Down at Epcot for May 17th. I booked it under "things to do - make dining reservations" in MyDisneyExperience web site.

I searched Epcot Wind Down under the dining section. Easy breezy and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Nice. Yea as you can see above I could have as well-I'm just not sure of a "gift" purchase.

But mostly found it odd they couldn't find it, but also hoping they get the word out so it's a success.

Could you buy a gift card and use it to charge it? Then give them the gift card.

Or call Disney Dining (407-WDW-DINE) and ask them. It's unlikely that there's a member discount, so no need to book thru DVC.

Yea that might be a good idea-will check that out thanks.

So if they "present" that gift card at the wind down-that should work out correct?

Before you "gift" make sure you like it. Reviews are not all glowing and now that they are allowing kids I have cancelled. (sorry but I don't want to pay $35 to be trapped with bored, whiney kids who shouldn't be at a bar LOL!) '

My friends and I are now going to spend our $$ at a bar in the Swan where if there are kids acting out we weren't charged a premium to be trapped with them. :lmao:

I booked it at La Cava del Tequila in Mexico, but the more I read about it, the less I thought it was a good fit for our plans. There are four of us, and we won't have had dinner yet that night.

The appetizers don't look that substantial, and there's not a full food menu at La Cava to supplement what comes with the $35 Wind Down package.

$140 for a round of drinks and appetizers for four doesn't seem to be a value proposition. If there was some special perk associated with it, maybe. But being permitted to sit in an Epcot bar after closing time doesn't really come across as much of a perk.

I cancelled and went with a dinner reservation at Nine Dragons, instead.

To the OP, this isn't a pre-paid event. You won't be able to pay through the reservation system. So the group you want to treat would have to have the gift card with them to use it.

Also I heard to be sure that you don't try and do it on an EMH night, since instead of a "private" experience, everyone that is there for EMH is mingling around.

Is it going on in September. I will be there September 20-28 and would like to do this as something new.

Thank you.

Thanks all, I will pursue the gift card avenue.

Those that think it's too expensive-it may be, but if it's paid for you (except tip and tax) I think the pressure is off in that regard. They will indeed run up a tab after the presentation as well.

This couple will be heading back to BCV (a one night stay) after Illuminations otherwise-so I'm trying "force/allow" and extended evening since 9:20 is crazy early.

The last available date is Sept. 14. As of now it's set to end before the Food & Wine Festival begins. I wouldn't be surprised to see a F & W version of this event if it goes over well between now & then. It appears to be offered only on Thursday, Friday Saturday & Sunday nights as those are the only nights you can book it online. The details in reviews I've read about the event at La Cava de Tequila appear to be pretty much exactly what was originally offered as the Tequila Tasting event they held for a few years during the F & W Festival. I don't think they held it last year but they did have the Tequila Lunch which was longer & included a full meal.
