I can't believe that it is October!
If anyone is interested I had a great trip at the Polynesian this summer. Sorry it took so long to post it here!!!

Cast:
Myself (Tammy, turning 37 on trip)
DH (Chris, 36)
DS (Tyler, 7)
DD (Kaleigh, 6)

Pre-trip: We like to fly out on SWA earliest flight out of Albany so we stay at a hotel near the airport and get an extra hour sleep. Sleep, yea like I can sleep the night before a Disney trip! By 5:30 AM I was up showered, dressed and gone to the hotel business center to print boarding passes. Got everyone else up any ready pretty quickly after that.

Love Albany airport. Easy and not very expensive parking, quick sky cap check in, quick security. But, oh, so slow girl at the coffee shop by the gate. How DO you make a BAD smoothie anyway?!?

Met up with my friend from work and her daughter at the airport. They are staying at AKL and are very excited. I take credit for these Disney converts.

Flight was smooth, I have to put in a pitch for EARPLANES. My son suffers from ear pressure pain on planes. We used these, put in before take off and keep in until cabin door opens at destination, they worked GREAT! No Problems.

Nice man from Tiffany was there with van (we were sharing a ride with my friends) collected our luggage and off we go. We made a quick grocery stop. I had decided to pick up a few staples for the kids otherwise they spent a week eating macNcheese and PB&J. Turkey and Ham from the deli, drinkable yogurts, case of water etc... and here we come Polynesian! Tiffany was dropping us at the Polynesian first than my friends at AKL.

A gentleman from the bell hop stand met our van, loaded our luggage and called to check on our room which was not yet ready. He explained that they were a little overwhelmed at the moment as it was peak check out time. We could wait a few minutes and they would have a cart bring us over or we could walk. We opted to walk, the kids and I wanted to show DH around the Polynesian ourselves. (We've been there he hasn't) First we made sure to show and have the bell man separate the two grocery bags that needed refrigeration.

We walked through the lobby and all got excited. We were in Disney World and we were at the Polynesian. The kids couldn't stop talking telling Daddy every little thing. I was still in the choked up Disney mode. We walked out the back past the pool. ("can we go swimming now?") to the Hawaii building. Wow, I enjoyed myself last year in Tahiti, but THIS is location! Tara checked us in and gave us our leis and a warm Polynesian welcome. She said there were other rooms ready now but we should wait because the one we were assigned was really nice. No problem. We (OK, I) will gladly wait for a good room.

Here is one of the nice perks when staying concierge that I'm not sure if I've seen mentioned. If you arrive before your room is ready or stick around after you have to check out of your room, you don't feel so homeless. At the Polynesian you have a beautiful, comfortable lounge to relax in. Add treats, a big TV and a clean comfortable rest room for a quick change into swimsuits and wow! We always arrive to Disney early and this was the most pleasant "wait for the room" we've ever had.

Well, after checking out the lounge, having a cold drink and a cookie, we decided to torture our children. In the cruelest way possible. We decided to have lunch at Captain Cooks before going for a swim. Not that they have anything against Captain Cooks, our food was good. But my kids want to SWIM!!! OK enough torture. We changed back at the lounge. Well in the restroom not in the lounge itself, we'll leave indecent exposure to others.

Now the volcano pool. Happiness and Lava Flows for all. Well Lava Flows for husband and I anyway and happiness for all. My son was up and down the slide more than I can count. After not to much searching we manage chairs facing the pool so we could enjoy our frozen adult beverages and watch the kids play...ahhh....we are on vacation....and yes that is the castle RIGHT behind us.
