Just need a bed -W Ball road motels??

PP is right that by the time you've walked to the M&F shuttle from Ball you're about half way to the park, you might as well walk from a time saving perspective. When you say Oct 14 & 15 if possible, does that mean the dates are flexible? If you can go a day or 2 earlier, most rates will be cheaper. Look at Majestic Garden and Hotel Menage, both have a shuttle. Also, Anaheim banned new Airbnbs, but existing permit holders can operate for 17 more months.

Majestic Garden is isolated and more expensive than what the OP wants.

Hotel Menage is also isolated and very close to the freeway, also more expensive than the OP wants.

As a solo traveler the Motel 6 is only $234 including taxes for the 2 nights, and then you can get the $25 gift card using TripAdvisor.

So not a bad deal at all.

Walk is just under a mile each way. Or you can take the ART Shuttle service.

Just be aware, you will be walking by the Anaheim GardenWalk Shoppertainment mall, so your "savings" might disappear there ;)

Still trying to decided on where to stay - looking at places on W Ball Road and walking to Mickey and Friends Parking Structure to catch the tram - the hotels are cheaper there and really I only need a bed and free wifi - no breakfast is required - so really looking for your thoughts .

We are going this same weekend and are staying at the Anaheim Plaza on Harbor/Disney Way - our rate is $135 for a two queen bed room. With taxes/fees it comes to about $304 for two nights. It isn't a fancy place but it is clean and friendly and a quick walk to the parks. I just called two days ago and added on the second day with the same rate so they may still have availability.

I have to laugh, I just remembered I first stayed at a Motel 6 as part of my school's track team.

Motel 6 back then was $6 per night, and had coin operated TV's and the infamous vibrating beds (also coin operated).

But heck, it worked for what we needed, a place to sleep and shower.

Motel 6 is a lot nicer now, but basically serves that same purpose, a bed and a shower.

When the large Cedar Fire in San Diego happened in 2003, I ended up at a Motel 6 for a week, since I was evacuated. And heck, I had a TV to watch the news.... (no coin needed).

Majestic Garden is a better choice than anything on Ball that requires walking along Disneyland Dr from Ball because of the shuttle. Same with Hotel Menage, though it wouldn't be my first choice. The thread title says Ball, I gave options on Ball.

The OP mentioned that the Motels on Ball are cheaper, which isn't the case.

For example, the Majestic Gardens is $167 per night plus taxes. The property itself is very nice, but if you want a bite to eat, either you pay for a meal in the Hotel's restaurant, or walk across the street to the gas station convenience store.

Hotel Menage is $126 per night plus taxes (using the google hotel price search), and while a few more options, it is basically next to a couple of gas stations and isolated.

Since the "walking distance" Motels are closer and cheaper, why deal with a shuttle and stay in an isolated location?

Because they're not isolated. The Travelodge and Super 8 are right across the street from Majestic. Again, the OP asked about Ball and seemed to indicate her dates might be flexible. I suggested some alternates that may be cheaper on different dates. I'm seeing $154 for Majestic on the 14th-15th. Maybe the OP had other reasons to be on Ball, and therefore going slightly over budget would be worth it. I'm pretty sure the OP is able to research the options presented.

If the reason that rates are so high that weekend is a convention, then it is possible that availability and rates would be better on Ball than Katella. When recommending cheap motels, more than just cost should be a factor.

To me, isolated is nothing around except Motels and parking.

The walking distance Hotels have much easier access to restaurants and shops.

I also don't like the walk from the Hotel Menage due to the grade issue with the ridge over I-5, plus that some of the crosswalks are over freeway on-off ramps without a traffic light.

As someone who drives through the Ball Road/Disneyland Drive intersection on a regular basis, I know it quite well.

Without a rental car, I wouldn't want to be near that location and have to rely on a shuttle just to get a cheap bite to eat or grab a quart of milk and some grocery basics (Such as available at CVS and Walgreen's).

Maybe my bias is showing, but IMHO, not the best of locations. (Though I do like the Carolina's Italian Restaurant on Harbor north of Ball, good eats!), but then it is across the street from the Social Security office and an elementary school, plus a large Cast Member parking lot.

My post said that once you've walked to the M&F tram from Ball you might as well walk to the park. The OP originally mentioned taking the tram. I offered 2 options in the area that the OP asked about that had a shuttle, since the OP originally mentioned taking the tram. I didn't make a reservation for the OP, I offered an option that seemed to fit several parameters of the original post. No one else offered anything that hit everything on the original request either. There is a Starbucks directly across Harbor from the Menage, so also not isolated.

I have to laugh, is that like having a Subway in the Gas Station Convenience Store, because that is what that Starbucks is, a small store as part of the gas station.

The Hotel Menage is in a triangle "island" between Harbor, Ball and the I-5 freeway.

I use the USPS Holiday Station on Ball often, but then, how many visitors need to drop of packages for mailing?

Since the Motels on/near Harbor Blvd and easy access to the main Pedestrian Entrance are cheaper and have more options and variety, I guess we just will have to disagree on this matter.

It's a corporate operated Starbucks. It doesn't matter that the hotel is on an island if the OP takes the shuttle in lieu of the M&F shuttle.

You're right, your bias is showing.

OK, I do prefer Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and its location next to the CVS at Harbor and Katella. Better Coffee and better service.

Based on multiple price searches, the Motel 6 for one person is the best deal I can find, and add the $25 Amazon GC using TripAdvisor makes it even a better deal. A clean, decent basic Motel with lots of things around the Motel and the walk to Disneyland, or taking the ART Route 7 or 8 Shuttle.

Heck, let's look at the walk to catch the Mickey and Friends tram from the Majestic Gardens (which I wouldn't take, and use the every 30minute shuttle instead).

Oh goodness what have I started lol.

My dates aren't flexible - I'm going to MHP on the 14 and only arriving from a friends place that day .

As I've always stayed onsite I've never had to think about somewhere to stay , I saw on a map the motels on Ball and saw M&F parking lot nearby so thought it could be an option . As for price I was comparing to SHB . And this time trying to keep it cheap!!

I did look at Anaheim Plaza but the reviews kinda put me off.

Will look at motel 6 , also found a deal at Stovalls on a hotels combined site so a bit more research.

I've stayed at Anaheim Plaza. It's right on the edge where it still makes more sense to walk to the parks than to walk to the Toy Story shuttle. I had issues with my room, mostly that it had way too much furniture to the point that it was hard to get in and out of 1 bed. Also, there was a sliding door on the ground floor at the back of the motel that opened to nothing and didn't feel very secure as a solo traveler. Is your friend's place close enough to commute? Will you have a car? If so, you could look farther out and apply the savings to parking.

No won't have a car , she is up in Sylmar and I would have stayed with her for the past week already and it's easier for me to just catch a shuttle back to LAX on the Sunday night from the hotel in Anaheim .
