We just left disneyland after spending Saturday through Monday in the parks and it was exceptionally crowded every day. Even the magic mornings were a bit above normal from our recent experience but we had a good plan and went with the flow when things broke down and that was important because we experienced a great deal of breakdowns this trip. Especially yesterday and Sunday. Strangely enough Indiana Jones was probably the most reliabile ride of the trip which is not at all normal. But overall we made the best of it and had great time.

I'm glad you had a good time. Nowadays, it's really hit and miss with the crowds at Disneyland. I remember going in July a few years back, and on one of the days my family and I literally walked on most rides. In the evening we never waited longer than 20 minutes to ride anything. That was pure luck.

Disneyland has been more crowded the entire past year. Though a few weeks ago we hit it really good and had a very low crowds day. Since you went this past weekend you hit a lot of the Pirates 50th celebrations and festivities which is probably what caused a lot of crowds for you. Plus, we've noticed weekends are always bad there. We don't even like going on Fridays or Mondays because they are still crowded from weekend vacationers.

What were the standby lines like? (And how early did it get crowded?)

For the "off-season" there is actually a lot going on right now. Spring break, reopening of Pirates which probably brought in droves of locals to get the limited merch and be among the first to ride and the Food and Wine Festival at DCA. I would have been more surprised if it hadn't been really crowded.

I think a lot of schools are on Spring Break this week. It's the beginning of that season and the hours adjusted for this week with earlier opening and closing times compared to last week. Glad you made the most of your trip.
