Here is a little background on our first trip as a family to the happiest place on Earth and how it was a LONG time in the making....
I thought I would start out with telling how our daughter came into our life. My wife and I struggled with infertility for many years. For almost eight years, we did not know if we would ever be parents. There were many ups and many more downs, testing, surgery, hormone treatment, failed attempts at pregnancyand two adoptions that fell through. It seemed as though everyone around was having children. When we were younger it didn’t bother us as much, but now we were at the age where all our friends were having babies and it hurt every time you heard the words “I am pregnant” You want it to be you so badly. You keep thinking this will be the month and then once again disappointment. It puts a huge strain on all your personal relationships, including your marriage. We felt as though we had lost touch with so many people, because if we could not have a baby, we wanted to be left alone.
Then after a softball game( I am a HUGE softball player.), a friend of ours who had learned of our situation wanted to pray with my wife. She told us that she had the gift of fertility and prayed that God would bless us with a child if it was his will. Well, that was in May 2006. We felt our hope return, and thought for sure that we would be pregnant in the next couple of months. August comes, hasn’t happened yet. Then in Church one Sunday, Our Pastor’s sermon was about Sarah and Abraham. He kept saying not in your time, but in God’s time. You have to ask and wait patiently on the Lord. We we at our lowest by now and we prayed that the Lord would take our burden and not allow us to worry about it anymore. That day, we gave it over to Him and put it in His hands.
On August 29, 2006 we woke up to get ready for work. My wife went downstairs and the number for a local hospital was on the caller ID. She immediately panicked fearing someone in the family was sick. Then she realized there was a message. It was from the friend who prayed for me back in May. (She was a Nurse at a local hospital) She just wanted us to call her back because it was extremely important. I called her back and she said that a woman had a baby the night before and wanted us to have it. We were in shock. There was a lot to do that day, but by 4:00 PM, we had set up a meeting with this woman and our Attorney for 9:30 the following morning. We arrived at the hospital the following morning, and left that afternoon with a 2 day old baby girl!!!!
Was this a special trip for us??? You betcha!! Now that that's over let's start at the beginning since that seems like a good place
Day 1:After an 8 (12am-8am) hour drive we arrive at Port Orleans Riverside check in and get our KTTW cards, hop on the bus and head to The Magic Kingdom. We get in and here it comes....Pixie Dust. I was REALLY worried because I had planned this entire trip and of all the Princesses my daughter wanted to meet there was one and only one who we didn't have scheduled in a dinner and that was Tiana. SO... "randomly" I took the left in front of The Crystal Palace and there she was with almost zero wait.
Whew!! Mission 1 accomplished with ZERO effort!!
Next thing let's get on the teacups (The first of six yes that's a SIX times), well Mom and The Chasemonster, sorry THEJOEL doesn't do things that spin. Dumbo, Philharmagic, the corousel(Did I mention THEJOEL doesn't do things that spin?) Goofy's roller coaster and Pirates of the Carribian(Which The Monster did not like!) were next. ALMOST no wait!! We headed to Casey's Corner and grabbed two corn dog nugget meals, this was the moment I fell in love with Disney fries.
I must say it was delish, hot and the CM were helpful to the DDP virgin. After orienting ourselves to MK a little more we headed back to check on the status of our room and grab a refillable mug. Asked at the front desk and sure enough...You're room is ready!! We get our stuff and head to room 1705 SCORE it's a corner room!! After a power nap and a little unpacking we head to Epcot for our ADR at The Biergarten. This was the first of MANY great TS meals, the company was great and I can't say enough on how good the roast pork was. Well that pretty much wraps up day one cause we headed back to the room after a brief tour of Epcot because THEJOEL was whooped!
