Just how many 15 passenger vans can we fill with Disers anyways?

ladylyons said:
WOW!!! Sounds like a great trip!! Want to make a detour to California? :lmao: Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

We will have to plan a West Coast trip sometime. Or you could fly out with me for this trip.

Ok. I see that mom has volunteered us to follow in our own car. If I make the side trip to meet up with y'all, I want to be included in the van craziness. That seems like half of the fun! :rotfl2: We have two years to figure out logistics, but count me in for the van!!!!

I have a conversion van. Maybe we could drive that and pick up the southerners.........

Ok, I am working on the photo thing! Thanks for pushing me Mo, I have wanted to figure that out for years....:thumbsup2. I have started a photo bucket account & will upload pictures from my fast PC at work (did any of you St. Louis gals get Garth Brooks tickets? I told our IT guy we need wicked fast internet after that fiasco:lmao:)
And by the way Mo I am following along on your TR & your Tripletts are adorable :dance3: and D~ I am so excited for your next few updates to see my first Dismeet & appearance in a TR:woohoo:
After I figure out the photo thing I am going to start reading everyone else's TR's etc. to get to know everyonepopcorn::
Anyone with a trip next month? I will be at Disney World Nov. 15 for a week
Have a Great week everyone:hug:

Monica

I'm not just ok with you "forcing" me to come along, I'm thrilled! I have wanted to meet you since I first read about your sewing American doll clothes to fund your Disney addiction, err trips! I loved meeting Tess, Mo and Nicole last month, truly a highlight of our trip!!::yes::

Just to throw a wrench into the works….have you thought about going during the Christmas decorations instead of fall? I suppose the possibility of snowy conditions would be too nerve wracking to attempt it even in early November? I've just heard you and lots of others say it's a time you'd all like to experience. I'm up for any time, but just thought I'd throw that out. :duck:

I'm totally in for flying back home instead of driving. When vacation is over, I really just want to get home. And, not to be too hokey, I will be anxious to get back to Dan. :lovestruc

Another thought, for those of us who would like to lose a few pounds, two years to work on that seems like a great opportunity and this might be a great place for accountability and setting goals and getting encouragement. Or maybe we should have a separate thread for that?:confused3 You are just such an inspiration, D~ What does anyone think??

I told Charlie about this trip and his first words were "You're going to Disney without me?":rotfl2:

If Lois is willing, I wouldn't mind rooming with her. After all, I slept in the same room with D~ in Chicago, and she snores too.:rotfl:

I used to drive a 12 passenger van before I drove a school bus, but that was 20 years ago. I could probably still handle a 15 passenger van.

So I'm thinking, I'd fly to Chicago, drive to Florida and then fly home. Hope the air fares are reasonable. If we are going in October, I'd love to go to MNSSHP.

I'm thinking we need to have some type of matching shirt - maybe lime green with "Epic Dis Trip" or something similar, with a Mickey head.

Yay!!! I was going to ask you if you wanted to room with me!! Sounds like a plan! (sorry your team lost today. I was rooting for them!)

I haven't broken the news to Dan yet. I'm sure his reaction will be much the same as Charlie's, poor baby. A future trip that included hubbies would be cool.

And matching shirts are an absolute MUST! In my mind I think of this group as EDFRT: EPIC DIS FRIENDS' ROAD TRIP.

Okay, must get to bed and get some sleep. I'm babysitting my neighbors little boy (almost 2) tomorrow, well, today I guess now.

Have a wonderful day everyone!:goodvibes

Yay! Another vote for some matching shirts! That makes me so excited!

GET ON IT!!!

Hello all.. Thought i would say Hi hope everyone had a great weekend?

Ohh MNSSHP? like there was a choice?!? This year the party sold out the later Oct went! So we would have to get tickets EARLY!

I wonder what will be open in 2016??? HS? Animal kingdom with Avitar land?!?! I'm excited to see!!!!!!

The Memory maker would be a HOOT to look through with this many people and see how everyone's pictures come out.

How would dining work? I mean it's everyone out for themselves how would the Dining plan work with people sitting together?!?! I know more then 8 people (i think) and the gratuity is automatic on the bill...

I have GOT to go and do replies on my trip report.. :thumbsup2

The first Major stop would be Indy..

I am still bouncing off the walls excited about this trip! I really wasn't planning on going back till 2017 so this will be a bonus trip. :thumbsup2 I haven't told Jim yet but I'm sure I'll get around to mentioning it sometime. :rolleyes1

As for rooms, if we do stay at a value I will probably get a room by myself. Not that I don't want to see everyone but I am a pretty strong introvert and having down time by myself is necessary. If there are any other introverts in the group you will understand where I'm coming from. I do love interacting with people but it is a bit more work for someone as shy as I am. :goodvibes

Here's a little bit about me in case you haven't visited one of my PTRs or TRs (I feel like I'm auditioning to be in a group, pick me, pick me! :rotfl: ).

1. Who Am I? - My name is Ariana, I'm 41 and live outside of Atlanta, GA. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania but moved to GA about 12 years ago when my husband was transferred for work. I am still a die-hard Steelers/Penguins/Pirates fan and will always be no matter where I live. I am married, hubby's name is Jim and he is not the biggest Disney fan. It has started to grow on him but he definitely does not have the urge to run back the day we get home like I do. We do not have any children but do have four dogs. I work as an accountant for a local county government.

2. Touring Style - I can go with the flow and usually do when I'm with a group but personally I prefer being up early and making rope drop. If a park is open, I want to be in it! I came home from my last solo trip so tired I could barely stand.

3. Favorite Park/Least Favorite Park - Magic Kingdom all the way although I have only ever done one trip that did not include at least one day at all four parks. Least favorite is probably Epcot but that doesn't stop me from being there every trip.

3. Favorite Character - Pluto, Pluto, Pluto!! He has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember. I collect Pluto items and have a whole room dedicated to him in my house. Other characters I like are Dumbo, Flower, Mittens, and Maximus. Favorite princess has always been Belle although I really like Anna from Frozen.

4. Rides - There are very few rides I won't/can't ride at WDW. I do have some motion sickness issues that limit me but I still love the thrill rides. I just can't always ride them multiple times in a row. Star Tours is the only one I cannot ride, it gets me sick every time even when I take meds. Others I don't like are RnRC (too rough and leaves me with a headache) and Stitch at MK (do I really need to get into reasons for that one?). My favorite rides in each park are - MK - Pirates, HS - TSM, AK - EE, Epcot - Soarin.

5. Food/Restaurants - Here's where things get a little complicated. I am an extremely picky eater. But that being said, I am comfortable eating on my own so if the group picks something I don't like I can go elsewhere and meet up later. Some of my favorite restaurants at WDW are Rose & Crown, Coral Reef, BOG, The Plaza, Mama Melrose and Chef Mickeys.

OK, that's probably way more info than anyone wanted to know about me so I'll end this here for now. :rotfl:

Trying to post a picture! Hope it works....
Yay! It looks like it did this is me: Monica/tatar63

I want to give you guys some food for thought. If you go in the middle of October, please know that over half of the country is on a "Fall Break" in the middle of October. We just got back from Florida and it was so CROWDED! The shortest line we waited in was about 90 minutes long. Some of the more "popular" rides wait times were well over 2 - 2 1/2 hours long. I know some people can't handle the crowds so I thought I'd just let you know.

I'll also tell you that I was not impressed with MNSSHP. The lines for the rides were even longer than during the day time. The lines just to get a small handful of candy were about 40 - 45 minutes. Forget any character meets either. The lines were so long that for most characters, they closed the lines more than 2 hours before the park closed.

I wish we could... but you are more than welcome to meet up with us. :wizard:

I think I have plenty of time to work on DH on getting him to agree to me going! :rotfl2: Lots of bribing is going to have to happen. I would love to meet everyone!

We will have to plan a West Coast trip sometime. Or you could fly out with me for this trip.

I like the idea of a West Coast trip!! Girls road trips are amazing to do.

Hi Monica! :wave:Good to "see" you! Love your bag!!! Must have been sewn by someone really talented!::yes::

Way back in the day, October was an awesome month to go to Disney. When it began getting so crowded, we switched to September as our favorite month. I think Food and Wine has really made an impact on crowds for October. Thanks for letting us know your experience. I am really sorry your MNSSHP was not a good experience. It is one of the best times we've had, but we do go in September. Both times the crowds were small and almost no lines. It would be so awful to pay all that money and have such a terrible time!

November or December anyone?? Just sayin':rolleyes1

I was wondering how your daughter is doing now. If that's too personal, just ignore. I've been praying for her.

Hey! Great Job Monica!!! SO CUTE! I agree with Lois. Nice bag. I hear that talented person is on these boards somewhere!

Well since we are Introducing ourselves (and it's kinda fun) I will do it too!

I'm Michelle everyone but my job calls me Mo. I am married to Tom who i have not talked to him about this trip yet. Hey i have 2 years! He is a Disney fan.. We have the most beautiful - awesome triplets in the world: Zack Matt and Meg. Who CANNOT find out i am going to Disney without them...Job #1 I work for the lovely City of Chicago, I have a dog training job and i have a FUN part time job which i call #2
I am the Volleyball Coordinator for the kids school- Newly appointed Basketball coach for 4th grade girls, Taxi to everything else the kids are in.. We have three dogs Lex (great dane) Logan (Golden Retriever) Piper (shetland sheepdog) Then we have Stevie (Ferret) who is a character all in his own.

My Favorite Park: MAGIC KINGDOM!!! no explanation needed. Believe it or not Hollywood Studios love the theme and atmosphere.

Least Favorite: Animal Kingdom

Favorite Ride: Tower of Terror!! Least favorite: Tea cups ( )and It's a small World (terrifying)

Favorite Resort: POLY!!! well we shall see what it looks like after all the construction. My new love is Art of Animation

Favorite Restaurant: Be Our Guest - O'Hana Capt Cooks (IT HAS TONGA TOAST!)

Touring style: I wander attached to one of my cameras or I always go left..
I am not such a fan of the new FP system yet ONLY because i haven't been able to perfect it.. Once i have the swing of things and can add it to my chaos better i will love it.

Does that sum it up?!?! Oh I do LOVE to have a good time laugh and joke around..

Oh.. I smoke too... :smokin:

I have met in real life several Dis-ers and i can honestly tell you it was like meeting your BFF for coffee. You just hit it off like you see each other everyday!!! well i guess when you talk to each other pretty much daily while re-telling your life on a public internet forum- You do pretty much know that person... :surfweb:

Lois kinda invited me and I am also inviting myself to crash the party! Since it makes zero sense for you guys to swing through Jacksonville on your way down, I will just meet you at WDW! I may bring a nonDISer, Disney loving friend with me - I like the idea of having somebody to be attached to the hip with and since D~ said no, I'll have to bring my own hip attachment :)

Another suggestion for room arrangements would be to rent DVC points. I did it for our girls trip for Food and Wine Festival and it cost us $194/person total for 2 nights in a 2 bedroom at Boardwalk. We could have accomodated 2 more people in the room which would have brought the cost down further. Not as economical as a value resort split 4 ways, but nice to be able to have a bigger group stay together plus a kitchen. Just a thought. We are also renting points for a Grand Villa at Kidani for a 3 family trip - if we were individuals instead of families, it would be $192.50 per person total for 2 nights. Staying together would add a ton of fun and depending on dates, days of the week, and the resort we might be able to find somewhat economical options!

I hate that I'll miss the road trip portion of the trip but I look forward to spending time at Disney with others who love it as much as I do!

I am Jennifer, married to DH who would not appreciate me sharing his name on the internet :) We have 2 awesome girls, Peyton (almost 9) and Charlotte (just 3). I've been in a new job for just over a month and I love it! I work in accounting. We have just one dog - Cooper, a Great Dane. Since he weighs in at 150 pounds, he is the equivalent of several regular sized dogs.

We live in Jacksonville and are annual passholders - this month, I have been at Disney 3 out of 4 weekends - which is admittedly, a little much ::yes::

Favorite park - I can never pick! I love MK with the kids, I love the thrill rides at DHS, Expedition Everest is my favorite ride, and I love sampling the food and drink options at World Showcase.

Least favorite park - see above.

Favorite ride - Expedition Everest

Least favorite ride - not really a ride but Rafiki's Planet Watch and the Affection Section. I could do without these forever.

Favorite resort - apparently, I am just an indecisive person. I love Boardwalk, Bay Lake Tower, and POFQ. I dream of staying at the Poly one day!

Touring Style - I am a total commando tourer, however my family is not, so over time I am relaxing. I like FP+ because it takes the rope drop pressure off and I don't have to feel like a crazy person trying to get everyone moving in the morning and freaking out when they have to go potty as soon as we walk into MK and then want to stop for Starbucks coffee two minutes later. Who am I kidding, I just broke out in hives writing that. :scared1: I can relax on rope drop - everywhere but Magic Kingdom - if you just let me act crazy from 9am-11am with no bathroom or snack breaks I will turn the rest of the day over to endless breaks.

Favorite character - Donald Duck. Anna is my favorite princess.

Food - my must do's are Mama Melrose, 50's Prime Time, Ohana, California Grill.

I am looking forward to getting the chance to meet a bunch of my favorite DISers all at once!

:rotfl2: This is me exactly. Once we take a break for lunch, I don't care much about the rest of the day, I have already gotten most everything out of the way and I can relax a bit.

I'm glad someone else gets it! I am much better at all the other parks now but I just can't let go at MK.

Oh my gosh this looks like so much fun! Since I have my own girls trip with my friend Kimmie in the works and a family trip in 2017 I don't think I'd be able to afford another trip in the same time frame, but I would love to meet the van in Chicago!

Really, someone here made that bag? Amazing!

Yes, yes she does...

Oh.. I smoke too... :smokin: I thought you were going to quit?????:confused3:rolleyes1:scared:

Yes, this is true.

Just to throw a wrench into the works….have you thought about going during the Christmas decorations instead of fall? That's because he is a "prints":flower3:

Yes, this would be me. Need to lose a "few" pounds.:lmao:

Yay!!! I was going to ask you if you wanted to room with me!! Sounds like a plan! (sorry your team lost today. I was rooting for them!) Thanks, they did not play well...:sad2:

I haven't broken the news to Dan yet. I'm sure his reaction will be much the same as Charlie's, poor baby. A future trip that included hubbies would be cool.

Okay, must get to bed and get some sleep. I'm babysitting my neighbors little boy (almost 2) tomorrow, well, today I guess now.

Have a wonderful day everyone!:goodvibes

Well since everyone is introducing themselves I guess I can jump in here too.

My name is Tess, or Terry, or T, I answer to all three - or even Teresa, though not many people call me that...the nuns in elementary school did....

I'm married to Charlie, and have 4 adult children (2 boys and 2 girls), one of whom is married - lives about 4 miles from me, one is engaged - lives on the other side of the state, one has a significant other - lives in NJ:confused3, and the baby is single and she lives in Chicago, which gives me a good excuse to go visit Mo...

We have 3 dogs - Lady (Cocker Spaniel), Buddy (Chihuahua mix), and Rosie, (also a Chihuahua mix), we've had Lady since she was 8 weeks old, she is now nearly 13 years. We also had her brother, Duke, but we lost him to cancer nearly 2 years ago. Buddy and Rosie are rescue dogs and are 9 years old.

I am a land use planner for York County. I love my job and have been there about 20 years total. I am originally from Baltimore and am a lifelong Orioles fan and more recently (about 18 years) a Ravens fan. Unfortunately, Charlie is a Steelers fan.:headache:

We are DVC owners and travel to WDW nearly every year, and I have to say that Charlie is a bigger Disney fan than I am.pirate:

My favorite park is MK, hands down! The first and last park we visit each visit.

Least favorite park - I don't really have one, though DHS could be. Just not enough to keep me interested for more than 1/2 day lately.

Favorite resort - Boardwalk and Animal Kingdom equally

Favorite restaurant - this one is so hard because I haven't been to a "bad" restaurant, but I think I'm going to say Tony's Town Square.

Touring style - I'm more of a go with the flow person. I am more relaxed, definitely not "commando". I generally won't wait in a line for a long time to get on a ride, since I know I'll be back.

My favorite rides - all of them? Seriously, though, I don't care for Stitch, Tea Cups (can't do round and round rides ) and Mission Space.

Favorite character - Minnie Mouse
