Well I finally stayed at OKW. Nice resort. I do still prefer the BWV though. We were in home 24. Close enough to the action for me. I definitely am glad that I had a car though. We used all forms of transportation as well: Boat, ferry, bus and monorail. I like the fact that OKW is in proximity to all areas. Around the corner from Downtown, up the street from the BW, a hop, skip and jump from Epcot and MK.
The service was goof. Olivia’s was a nice character breakfast. The pool was ok. It was a little chilly though. Sauna was an unexpected treat. I was however a little disturbed this morning when checking out that the maid knocked on our door at 8:30 and a “asked if we needed anything before we checked out”, a little rude I thought. I was up so it wasn’t a big deal.
I do not regret my recent add-on there. It is a nice little get away and I did find the staff there to be a little more “welcome home” oriented.
On a second note, we enjoyed another DVC privilege and pool hopped to seven different resorts. That was a blast.
We started the stay at the GF on points. We really had a DVC vacation. Once again, I am so glad we joined.
Any questions?

50 Days 18 Hrs 51 Mins 37 Secs til BWV!

I'd love to hear about your stay at the GF! What type of room were you given? Did you feel it was worth the points?

Thanks! :)

Well, I just love the GF. How can you not? It is definately not point effective this year, even less next year. I believe it was 72 points for the 2 nights. In comparison to I think 54 points for a 1br at OKW for 2 nights. But you only live once and that's why I purchased! It was a short trip, 2 nights at the GF and 2 nights at OKW. We stayed in Big Pine Key on the 2nd floor with a MK view. The new pool is great, no spa though. The old pool and spa are under renovation. The new pool does not have a spa. Cool slide. We sat on our balcony and watched the electric water pagaent. We didn't get to see the fireworks because they weren't on the nights we were there. Very cloudy anyway. I love the access to the monorail for the MK. The monorail was also nice for pool hopping over to the Poly, whose pool was also quite nice. And warmer. Another neat slide.

Pluto:

Can you give me a quick "top 10" of the pools--or any pool-hopping suggestions? We are going in about a week for 10 days; and want to try some pool-hopping. It will be myself, my husband, and our nearly 3 year old.

On our last trip, we spent most of our times at the parks (well okay, MK--trying to pull my daughter off the Barnstormer to be exact!). What pool time we spent was at an OKW quiet pool--it was nice, as we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. But now we will have more time on this trip and are ready to explore!

IMHO Storm Away Bay would be most peoples #1 pool but it is the one that gets closed more often than any others. I think the pool at Coronado Springs would get my #2 followed by the Poly. I didn't think much of the GF but it has been up graded since I went. WL is also a great looking pool

Definately Storm Along Bay! My daughter has been going there since she was 1 1/2. She loves it there!! Sand galore!

I am rating actually by mk kids standards. Neat pool and slide!

BTW, why did you rate WL pool over the BW pool? I've never been to WL. Is the pool much better? Just wondering, thinking of going a couple extra nights next summer.

thanks

Overall atmosphere and pool. BWV is my real home and I love it, but the pool at VWL is newer, nice waterfall rapids with a heavy current to swim against, warm spa, hot spa and the pool area is laid out a little better. BWV slide is bigger, but VWL was just a different type of pool.
Again, these are just our opinions...

Thanks Pluto! I'm printing this post and taking it with me. I'll let you know if I concure!
