Just got upgraded to Beach Club!!!! (Only one night, but still.........) UPDATED 4/23/20 :(

Gees, Talk about a punch in the stomach..So sorry to hear of that. But you never know, Disney doesn't forget!!! You may be surprised to find out about some pixie dust again once you re-book for the future, :confused3 pixiedust:

This was so hard to cancel for me. I ended up with 1 night at Beach club, and then upgraded to AKL for 5 nights for my reservations. It was all paid for. I had ADRs for Cape May breakfast, and Beaches and Cream lunch.

With the upgrade to beach club for my $204 CSR night, and then a great price on AKL for 5 nights, it was going to be an amazing surprise for my two grandsons.

I had new swimsuits ready for their Easter baskets, their customized magicbands, and kids’ guidebooks, as they’d find out on April 12 about this surprise trip.

I didn’t do the Easter surprise, and I guess I knew the trip wouldn’t happen, but when I got “the email”, it really hit home. Cancelling was so hard.

Darn it.

Have you considered taking Disney up on the free dining offer to rebook? I know it doesn't work for everyone, and we were also really sad because we had a great discounted rate at Riviera for our May trip and had to downgrade to a moderate for August, but the free dining was a silver lining (we upgraded to a higher dining level but still had good savings from it since we are a family of 5).

Yes, I had considered it but there is no way I can take them out of school once it starts, and August isn’t good for us so I just can’t do it before the end of this year. I’m hoping that we can maybe we can try again for next May, if they don’t miss much school before then. The 9 year old (will be 10 in July) doesn’t eat much at all, and neither do I, but the 6 year old eats like a teenager.

I’ve never been a fan of the dining plan, because it’s not a good value for me and I don’t like to spend park time in a restaurant, but in August it’s probably a great idea since you could take a long break from the eat during a meal. The older boy enjoys meals and talking, and character meals are fun. And the 6 year old could eat. And eat. And eat.
