I have a split stay May 10-16, because I made reservations at Movies 11-16 before making flight arrangements. So I was at CSR for one night (May 10) before moving to Movies. I kept looking for a full week at Movies. They had availability at CSR, but I paid about $135/night for movies and CSR is like $240. So I’ve been daily looking for something at a good price for the whole week.

Disney just called me and wanted to upgrade my CSR reservation to Beach Club! Well, heck yes!

I guess that means I’ll stop looking for the full week at movies......... :)

I have an AP but bought 4 day resident discount tickets for my grandsons so we only have four park days (with hoppers) anyway, so I think our pool day (weather permitting) has suddenly been moved to our first day!

Things like this never happen to me! I’m so excited and I knew you all would totally understand my excitement. My husband (who doesn’t go to any parks at all, ever) didn’t get it at all so I had to run to you.

It’ll be a serious pool downgrade to Movies, but that’s just fine with me!

We arrive late (5:30 PM), so I’m thinking now grab an uber instead of DME and get there ASAP if the weather is good. I think we could make it much faster with Uber and enjoy a bit of our time.
The next morning was going to be our AK day with EMH, but I’m thinking that if the weather is great, the kids would love a special pool day.
What a nice surprise!

What a fantastic surprise! I would definitely rearrange the schedule to add in some pool time. You could always hit up AK in the evening.

Nice! Congrats! I agree with you. Take an Uber and if nice stay at the resort a bit next day. Stormalong bay is awesome. I stayed one night before and was upgraded to club level. That caused us to change our plans next day to take advantage of it.

Here’s the weirdest thing- I was checking MDE and sure enough, Beach Club is there! But......Coronado Springs still shows availability that night. I had a preferred room with two beds.

WHY did we get upgraded to a different hotel if there is availability?

I don’t really care- I’m happy- but it sure seems like something is happening.

Also, I didn’t think of this before, but they called and left a voicemail to call back, so I did. When I called back, it was the “special guest requests” line or something like that. The CM told me that she had to read something first, because I was the very first one to return one of the calls.

So I hate to be the start of any rumors, but it sure seems that if my room rate and bed type shows as still available, and there were multiple calls to others, maybe there is something going on at CSR.

I still can’t believe I’m staying one night at a resort I’ve only ever imagined staying at!

That is wonderful! Congrats on the upgrade. You going to try for a Beaches & Cream ADR?

Oh my gosh! I didn’t even consider that!!!!!!!!! Sure we could. Since we are arriving late (ish) on Sunday, maybe Monday afternoon would be great. We have to checkout by 11, but I understand we can stay all day. They’ll move our luggage and we can stay in the Beach Club area. The kids will LOVE that, and so will I!

(Now off to stalk ADRs.....................)

we walked up once around 11 am and sat at the counter. It was great and an option if you can’t get an ADR. I love the BC. Have fun!

Of course I have no idea the situation with CSR but we've had a call to offer an upgrade once. It wasn't an availability issue it was "we want to offer this to you" thing. The room we had wasn't sold out but they offered us to upgrade in hopes that we like it for the future. And we did.
I believe they do this all the time, or a lot. To randomly chosen guests. There's a department that handles these things and I'm sure everyone is due to call the same dept. Not that everyone is from the same resort.

Ah, that makes sense. She did put me on a brief hold when I told her I had two reservations, and while I was on hold I was just hoping that she called to tell me I could stay in the same hotel (Movies). I guess that the extra 6 days was just way too much of an upgrade! Or there was no availability- which is most likely since Beach Club didn’t show up at all as available for the rest of the week.

I remember you or someone here talking about ‘orphaned rooms’. My guess is that Sunday night the Beach Club would have an orphaned room or two, since it didn’t show any availability at all the rest of the week. Since I only had a one-night reservation, that makes sense.

Suddenly, changing hotels on our first morning/day doesn’t seem so bad! :)

Congrats! Upgrades are always magical!

That's wonderful! Have a good time and be aware, BC will spoil you. To quote the Ghost Host "There's no turning back now!":hmghost:

We really enjoyed Stormalong Bay the day we stayed there! We used the pool midday when we took a break from DHS and in the morning the first hour it opened. The sandy bottom pool is a bit warmer than the other, and the lazy river pool is so relaxing. The 3(!) hot tubs were awesome, and the slide was great if you sit up a tiny bit so the "sections" of the slide don't bump your back. We enjoyed a Lobster Roll at the little cafe by the pool and a huge Kitchen Sink sundae at 10:50pm at Beaches and Cream. We LOVED our 1-night stay! Hope you do too!

We love Beaches & Cream for a last-thing-at-night sundae. The late-evening reservations can be easier to get, so if it works for you, you may be able to do a late dinner there on your arrival night. Or barring that, we have done the walkup window for sundaes in the evening and eaten them at some of the outdoor furniture nearby -- there's lots.

This was so hard to cancel for me. I ended up with 1 night at Beach club, and then upgraded to AKL for 5 nights for my reservations. It was all paid for. I had ADRs for Cape May breakfast, and Beaches and Cream lunch.

With the upgrade to beach club for my $204 CSR night, and then a great price on AKL for 5 nights, it was going to be an amazing surprise for my two grandsons.

I had new swimsuits ready for their Easter baskets, their customized magicbands, and kids’ guidebooks, as they’d find out on April 12 about this surprise trip.

I didn’t do the Easter surprise, and I guess I knew the trip wouldn’t happen, but when I got “the email”, it really hit home. Cancelling was so hard.

Darn it.
