Just got the Members' Exclusive Bonus/Incentives letter!

Thanks guys for "spelling it out." I've been itching to add on at BCV. We currently have 270 points there and another 50 and HH. If it's just hubby and I, we usually do fine with the allotted points. However, if you through a 2 bedroom stay in there for the extended family, I get a little panicky about my points. That said, I've been thinking of adding another 50 points before pricing goes up...again.

We don't "need" 130 points, but the offer is quite inticing. I called my guide to get on the waitlist for April BCV points....but I ended the call without doing a darn thing...still thinking about those 130 points.....at SSR.

I agree with Tjkraz. With the incentives, SSR is very competitive with the resales if not more competitive.

You will need the 11 month window at SSR if you want a GV. Dont let the size of the resort fool you into thinking you will not.
The points for the GV's on the weekends at both resorts is about the same. OKW GV's save you points on the weeknights but not on the weekends.

The MF's are negligible between the two and OKW has already announced fees will increase with the new pool additions. So that should not factor in.

Im buying where I want to stay. SSR has alot to offer in great views, walking to DTD, my sons and Dh love DQ and movies, so I can see us spending alot of time there when they are old enough to venture off by themselves a little. While they are at DQ, Im at the Spa.

I own at OKW and if that is where you want to stay then that's where you should buy. With the recent price increases, DVC has closed the gap.

I thank everyone for a most wonderful broad view of opinions. The bond between all of us is the "Disney Magic" we all seek.

Me....I still think SSR is muchly overated, too expensive and just hype...guess its because I paid $74./pt. for my BCV, with a $2,000 reduced incentive to buy in 2003.
:goodvibes

Hummmmm...50 yrs??......well in 40 yrs., I'll be 97yrs old...by then there will be a "new" DVC to consider..Hee-Hee!

I will still wait for a re-sale...

Remember... a Dream Season, Grand Villa, @ OKW is 439 pts./week vs. 607pts./week @ SSR..seems to be a no brainer..
:faint: :faint:

Magical Pixie Dust to ALL of you...

:cheer2:

Hope your "Dream" comes true!! :wave

Overrated....underrated....it's all a question of personal taste. I really don't care for the theming of VWL, but I certainly wouldn't label it "overrated" simply because it doesn't appeal to me.

I think we're all glad to have bought-in a less-than-current prices. But that doesn't diminish the value of DVC..at least not by much. Sure, it would be great to get more points at 20% less price. But whether your breakeven point is 6 years of ownership or 7 years of ownership, DVC is still a darn good deal for those who make regular trips to WDW.

I probably won't be around to see our DVC points expire either. But, when making our decision, I did ask myself the following question:

If I were forced to sell in 20-30 years, which would be worth more: OKW with 8-18 years remaining or SSR with 20-30 years remaining?

And there's no question that the OKW grand villas are a great deal. Of course I think the decor of the SSR rooms is a notch above the other properties. And I believe that SSR is the only resort that boasts 2nd floor exterior access to it's Grand Villas (with elevators in all buildings).

With the possible exception of the Grand Villas, to paraphrase your original post...OKW is (or at least will be by 2007) the second largest property and historically the easiest to book. I can always book a room there if I want to. :teeth:

Well, after all this, DH says "no". I knew he would because we've got the oldest of our 4 kids going off to college next year and then a child going every other year after that  . We own 200 pts. (150HH, 50V) which is not as much as most of you, I'm sure, but it does us pretty well since we are only able to get to Florida once (maybe twice) a year, and we usually only stay Sunday thru Friday at DVC and maybe pay $ for another on property resort. The AP's would have been nice, but I can't justify spending $11,000+ more to get them, even with the $10 credit per point, when we really don't NEED the extra points (with a family of 6, I haven't really thought much about getting grand villas to try to accommodate other family and friends).

But I think it's a great deal for those of you who can afford it! ::yes::

:earsgirl:

Waiting to hear from Guide....

Liferbabe--do you know when we can actually reserve using the points for next year. My use year will be April. Can I reserve after April now using those points? I'm not sure on this because we don't actually "close" until next April.

Yes. They have no expiration date.

If you're interpreting this correctly, I would think you could make out even better by taking the $5 off per point, receiving 2004 points, and either using or renting (at $10+ each, netting you at least $15 off per point) the 2004 points.

You stole my first ever thread! Wahhhhhh..

That is what I was gonna post, so here is the question. The letter, which I interpert as buy 130 or more points at SSR and get a free pair of APs or an II week (:rotfl:).

An added bonus for those who purchase atleast 100 points (or the 130 noted above) is a $5.00 credit for Phase I of SSR (net $90.00 a point) or a $10.00 credit for Phase II. (net $85.00) per credit.

So my remaining question. Lets say I buy 130 phase 2 points. How easy would it be for me to rent them at $10.00 a point, would any of you DVCers/DISers consider that?

(THis is NOT an actual offer, I'm playing what if, but would appreciate honest replies!)

Of course my guide is out of the office today, so I can not confirm my interpretation of the letter!

Thanks in advance!

-Tony
