We drove down to WDW last Saturday, June 12th. We just got back home tonight, Sat, June 19th. Oh my goodness, was it H-O-T! It was much hotter than when DH and I went the week of July 4th two years ago. :sad2:

The crowds were not really that bad, but you were sweating by the time you got on your bus in the mornings! Like, dripping down your back sweating, not just a little on your forehead.

Disney Silly Bandz are in most stores. I had a running list to get by requests, and the Mickey and Friends were the only ones sold out today.

LOVE the new MK fireworks and parade! :goodvibes

Oh, and TSM? Studios had early (8am) EMH Monday (I think that was the day!), but we didn't get there until 9:30. FP time was already 6:10 -7pm (closing time!). When we went thru the FP line, you could see the little clicker that counted when each person went thru the turn stiles. It was 9450 at 6:15pm! There was still people in the stand-by line, so I bet it got close to 10000 riders that night!

Any questions? :wizard:

Where did you stay?

How was the tarp situation on Main St. in the MK?

Are the tarps still up at Peter Pan & Pooh?

Thanks!

Welcome Home, Sorry to hear it was so hot. I've been reading here about the heat. The heat can sure zap your stamina.

I'm sure my GD will be excited about the silly bandz, you never know with these styles one day there popular, next day there shoved in a drawer. Maybe by September silly bandz will be out.

Did you go to Fantasmic? Was one show or two scheduled? Sounds like you had a great time!

I was there the week before. F! was shown twice on Thursday of that week. Had I known I would have gone to the second show and skipped the H&V dinner package. I was less than impressed with the food there, but I wanted to be sure to get in to see F! since we had never seen it before. And believe me, I can usually eat about anything!;)

Where did you stay? Pop Century, 3rd time :goodvibes

How was the tarp situation on Main St. in the MK? I honestly don't even remember seeing them, so not too bad!

Are the tarps still up at Peter Pan & Pooh? The area where the tree house is is behind a wall.

Where did you stay?

How was the tarp situation on Main St. in the MK? Casey's and another building (can't remember which) are still covered.

Are the tarps still up at Peter Pan & Pooh? Still up.

Thanks!

I also just got back yesterday after a week's stay at POR. See my answers above.

sounds like you had a terrific time even though the weather was really hot! how were the buses at POP? did u ever have to wait really long for anything?

We just got back also (last night) from POP. Buses were okay. Longest wait was at POP for a MK bus 30 min. This was around 4pm. Other than, that most waits were less than 10min. Average wait time 15-20mn. Buses were full most of the time. Not too bad, just pack plenty of patience, and be prepared for RAIN!

We just got back as well. Loved POP-It was perfect for me and DD. Don't know if I'd be thrilled squeezing my family of 4 into one of those rooms but for the two of us it was perfect. :goodvibes

I agree about the heat - Holy cow it was hot!! We were really impressed with the bus service. We never waited more than 10 minutes. They get very crowded and there were a few times we had to stand but it's not a far ride to any of the parks so we sucked it up. The only thing I wasn't fond of was how far the bus stops are at most of the parks. It makes for a long walk at the end of the day.

We were there from the 8th-19 and I agree it was H O T!!!! I thought we were going to melt waiting to get into the MK on Wednesday. I thought crowds were very manageable and the longest we waited for anything was 30 minutes for ToT Tuesday morning.

I do not understand the people that don't FP Splash Mountain. :confused3 We got on with a FP in less than 3 minutes and the standby line was a very hot and boring 60-70 minutes!

Did you go to Fantasmic? Was one show or two scheduled? Sounds like you had a great time!

Before our trip, we already had in mind that we were going to DHS for Fantasmic on Tues the 15th and then when we arrived at WDW, we checked current park closing times to find out that DHS was closing AT 6PM on this night!!!!!! We learned to never trust any websites and to check park closings when we get to the property. Anyway, this made us change our DHS day to Thurs the 17th as they were open for two Fantasmic shows at 9 and 11pm. All I can say is to be flexible.

I was there the same exact days as you (we stayed at POFQ).

The heat was seriously oppressive. I was expecting around 90 -- not 95+ with an over 100 degree index.

On the bright side, when we did encounter rain (both times at DHS), it didn't interfere with our plans. One time we were leaving to go back to the resort anyway, and the other time we were in a restaurant for 90% of it.

I thought I did great with our touring plans and utilized our FPs and rider switch passes effectively, so waits weren't too bad (except where I chose to do TSM standby for 45 minutes -- it was the trade-off for the R&R and TOT FPs, so it's cool). On EPCOT day, I screwed up, though. We got to do everything, but it was just an "off day" for me mentally and I didn't make the best use of our time that day.

While I can deal with the crowds this time of year, I seriously don't know if I can chance this kind of heat again. It was miserable. I have always lived in the south and I'm originally from south FL, so you think I could deal . . . but it was BAD.

We also were there-drove down on the 11th and got there the 12th...just got home last night...it was really hot! We only wne to the parks 2 days, MK(Wed.) and DHS(Thurs.).
Loved the parade..it brought back memories from the only time I went when I was a child. The fireworks were so neat...except for the fact that my little guy was deathly afraid of them and we couldn't escape them snice they were shot out from all areas!
Didn't get to ride TSM much to my kids disappointment as we had to leave the park at lunch since my youngest got very sick and we were unable to return(turns out he had strep throat)
One vent I have though...is that the classic characters were only out until once an hour up until noon at DHS. We kept missing them and then...nothing! My son was so sad.

We went the same week and I agree- it was MUCH hotter than when we went in June 2 years ago. Incredibly HOT. We thought the crowds were great for June as well, and the fireworks were amazing!!! :thumbsup2

We just got back too...and loved the rain. The heat can really play games with you if your not prepared. We had a great time and I loved the fireworks.

Right on!!! I feel the same way. This is my 3rd trip-we have been in May, June, and July. This trip in June was by FAR hotter than when we went in July! I prob won't go back during the summer again. I will either go for spring or fall break, and just deal with crowds, verses the heat.

I agree about the heat. I went 5/31-6/4 and I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale (until I was 25) and it was soooo hot. I live in GA now and its horribly hot here too. I couldn't stay at the parks past 2 pm, I had to take a break and go back at night. It was the humidity too, the air was just heavy and oppressive. Of course, if its the only time you can you, you can prepare for the heat and be fine.
I asked my mom if we ever went to Disney in the summer (we were only 3 hrs away) because I don't recall going and it was so hot and she said no, she didn't think we did. She did remember going one winter and it getting cold and having to buy me a sweatshirt (I remember that, I loved that shirt). I think we generally went in February or early Spring.

We left June 13 and got back last saturday night, the 19th. It was hotter than 2+ years ago, we didnt go last year so can't compare it. DM went with us 2 years ago and I can't imagine if she had gone this year she couldn't have left her room. Even though it was hot, it was the rain that drove me crazy. I am use to afternoon showers that blow up and go away but both times we went to AK it poured and stormed for hours til we gave up and left. Of course AK has all the big out door rides so that stinks when it storms and they have to close. We still had a great time and this was our first trip with DD since she has been in college and she brought BF so I wasnt expecting a great time like you have when they are little or you take someone who has never been before, but we had a GREAT time and I fell in love with DisneyWorld all over again.

Ahhhh! Wow, I don't remember sweating at this point the last time I went in late August! I think it may have been slightly cooler since it was right after Katrina hit the Gulf coast...but I remember it was HOT. We are going again in August, a bit earlier in the month...we are preparing for afternoon breaks at hotel for swim, nap, etc.
