Had a great 6 days at WDW and 13 days in Florida. Did all the parks and DTD. Was on the DDP for the first time but haven't been able to add up the reciepts to see if it was worth it yet. Stayed at POR and loved it again. Drove straight through 24 hrs and 1 minute to get there. Way back got into a snow storm in Beckely WV and stayed the night. Only took us 25 minutes at Fort Erie to get across the border and everything was great. Any questions let me know. The crowds were great and am going again next March Break.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hi: Glad you had a great holiday. We love the POR resorts.

Just wondering what hotel you stayed in in Beckley? Would you recommend it?

Also did you come across much construction on the roads?

Deb.

We stayed at POR last year and loved it too!! Isn't it great?

cool to hear you drove straight down, we are doing that in september...
Hopeing to save some only from flights, have a fun road trip and have our car while we are there..

We stayed in exit 44 and it was a Quality Inn and was beautiful. It was 100.00 US for the 5 of us and that included a roll away bed and breakfast in the am. There is no pool (outside my daughter thought was a ice rink) the breakfast was juice and coffee, bisquits and gravy, bacon, french toast sticks ,scrambled eggs, fruit, sausages. This was included in the price. I would highly recommend this again but call and make reservations first. They take your credit card but don't add to it until the day you arrive. You have to call by 6pm the day of to cancel or keep reservation. We got there and is was snowing and the place was packed and a women in the lobby from Canada too said they are all booked. I said I have a reservation and the women at the counter said boy are you smart. We of course got in. There was construction along the way. We had a triptik from CAA and some of the construction wasn't even on it. There is some though near the first tunnel coming from Virginia to West Virginia. There is some in Jacksonville, Georgia and Charleston.
Anyother questions let me knowpopcorn::

In March 2008 we will be flying for the first time. Driving 4 years in a row has taken it's tole out on the van.

Any idea about release dates for March, or the rates. Just an estimate is great.

Not sure but will start looking in November for March dates. Heard in July they come out for December. So going with that. Heard you can get prices for 200 us per person flying out of Buffalo and Detroit.

thanks for the info Disneyof3. I will start looking and plan for 400.00 and hope for a ding, or internet deal.

welcome home

Hey Disney of three..
Your story sounds like ours.. This was our 5th trip. We also stayed in Florida for 2 weeks and Disney for 6 days ( POR as well!) We alway drive but our Jeep is getting old, so we decided to fly this year. Got a $54 US one way fare there and back for all 5 of us , out of Buffalo. I booked the flight in Jan. Keep your eye out for INTERNET SPECIALS . I waited for a ding in late Feb./March and nothing came. It was a good thing I booked when I did because flights JUMPED in price in late Jan. / Feb. Sign up for the Southwest newsletter and all the specials come through email.I hope to go again in March next year, and I think we might drive ( hopefully with a new car!) I love the drive , but the plane was a nice change.
Glad to hear you had a great trip.

Disneyof3 - How did you find the DDP? We are looking at it for our trip coming up at Easter but are wondering if having a large sit down meal almost everyday is going to be too much. Will having that much food in the heat make you feel tired and full?

Just my 2 cents....
We had the DDP for the first time , and yes it is ALOT of food ( at least for us ) with a family of 5 .. DH , myself, DS 10 ( adult ) DS 8 and DS 6. We booked a package deal for 3 nights and the rest was room only so we wouldn't have to have the DDP for all 6 nights. We were able to stretch it out over 4 days. It is alot of "sitting and eating " but it really was a nice change for us to eat such GOOD food, and try some restaurants that might have been out of our budget previously. It was great to be able to pick up snacks for the kids whenever they wanted... it was a nice change .We would definately do this again for a short trip.
