Just got back..Windsor Hills comments

We just returned from an 11 night stay in a townhouse at Windsor Hills. Just a few comments I thought might be helpful to those of you considering a townhouse at WH:

-great location...at most maybe 15 minutes from any Disney location. Also, many restaurants within a few minutes drive
-loved having a splash pool and it was actually bigger than we thought it would be
-the main pool isnt deep enough for older kids. I think the max depth is maybe 4 feet. Also, the slide going into the pool scraped all my kids as they went down it (my kids ages are 10, 12 and 15)
-I don't know if it is all the townhouses or just ours but I hated having to make sure I did laundry, turned on the dishwasher and took out the garbage before we left at 6am for our flight this morning. I thought that is what they paid the housekeeping service to do?
-We had neighbors on all sides and I never heard anyone. Very quiet place.
-You will need to buy toilet paper, paper towels, sponges, dish detergent, dish washer cleaner etc.. Our place had nothing!!
-Large spacious rooms for everyone to separate for their own time after being together all day long.

Most all places ask you to clean out your food and take out garbage, start the dishwasher and strip beds and sometimes start a load of laundry. If the housekeeping had to do everything there wouldn't be enough time before another family was ready to move in.
Also because it's a self-catering vacation you do have to buy your own toilet paper, dish detergent etc. Sometimes there's stuff like detergents/cleaners left from the people before and sometimes everything has been cleaned out. We've seen it both ways, that's why I usually wait till I get to the house before buying the detergent stuff.

Thanks for the comments. That was the first negative thing I have heard about the pool. Four feet isn't that deep. It is unfortunate that the slide scraped too. Glad you enjoyed the space and the splash pool! I think different management companies require different things to be done prior to the departure. Most places I have stayed at require the fridge to be cleaned out and trash to be taken out. All dished need to be washed too. I have stayed at one place that wanted us to start a load of laundry too. It can be a pain if you have an early flight. The last two trips had us leaving the villa at 3 am to catch a 6 am flight so, it's not fun. We rent a beach house every summer though, and the list of things to get down prior to departure is worse and we have to provide our own linens.
