Came home today, not feeling so well so I tested myself for Covid and sure enough it was positive. A LOT of people we’re coughing towards the end of the cruise. The Port Transfer bus back to airport was a symphony of coughing.

Well I guess my vacation will continue for a few more days.

Stay safe.

Oh forgot to mention that the porters at Vancouver cruise terminal we’re on strike this morning. DCL highly encouraged us, if any families had an early flight, to walk your own luggage off the ship. Plan accordingly everyone.

Did you have a good time on the cruise? Sorry that the ending didn't work out as planned.

Sorry you got Covid. My dad and I both did on the Wish in April as well. We stayed in a hotel a week after near home in NJ. Was worth it for us though

I'm so sorry to hear that. Hoping you feel better soon.

I'm about to go on a 7 night Alaska cruise next week (not on DCL) and I want to avoid getting Covid.

I last got Covid in June 2022, so I'm wondering if my immunity has waned now one year later, and if I'm going to be a prime target for the virus.

Personally I’d suggest masking in crowded areas. The only people I know who haven’t gotten Covid are ones who still masked and haven’t traveled.

If I didn’t travel I’m going to take a good guess I wouldn’t have caught covid. It was worth it for us though

I was on the same cruise, and noticed the increase in coughing at the end especially in the theaters at the end. While I realize we are speaking of coughing, I also noticed the amazing lack of hand sanitizer around the ship, I mean it was almost impossible to find. After the terrible year and a 1/2 the cruise industry was shut down, it blew my mind!
You would think they would be doing everything they could to not only protect us but stay in business and not get shut down again.

My family and I are doing a B2B on the Wish in a few weeks and I was wondering from recent travellers how illnesses are on that ship?

Alaska is a truly magical place to cruise. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. On glacier day the whole ship was poised on the deck 9 and 10 hoping the fog will lift so we could get a glimpse of Menderhall Glacier. Seriously someone must have sprinkled some pixie dust on the Wonder and fog just lifted. Captain Fabian got really really close to the glacier. Listening to white thunder of the ice calving was amazing.

Can’t speak of the Wish, but by the time we hit day 4 or 5 on our cruise, you knew a lot of people were getting sick. My daughter and son also go sick on the cruise, but they tested negative for covid. Guess they just caught a cold. Went to urgent care this morning and the doctor said covid cases are rising.

Come to think of it you are absolutely right. I don’t I ever saw hand sanitizer station on the ship.

After my urgent care visit, I noticed my last booster shot was 9/22/22 so almost a year later and I caught it again. Anything is possible I suppose.

Glad to hear the cruise part was enjoyable! I had wondered the same, hoping the after effect would not outweigh the cruise / destination experience.

Out of curiosity (and a little education from me), what was the actual glacier you saw on glacier day? Mendenhall is inland and not near where cruise ships travel. Possibly Hubbard or Sawyer? (No shade thrown.)

My family took Alaska cruise in June. Out of 24 family members cruising, 20 ended up with Covid. With most testing positive the day after disembarking. I did not know Covid was on the rise then or I would have def masked up.

An Alaskan cruise is on my bucket list for sure.

So sorry that you aren't feeling well and hope that you have a quick recovery.

Oh I’m sorry. Anti-virals making me a little loopy. It was Hubbard Glacier.

Same here, if I knew cases we’re rising, we would have masked up as well. That’s exactly what happened to me. Out of our family of 5, I was the lucky one who caught covid. My other kids got something else.

I've had covid twice, was no worse than colds I've had before and I got it both times at work.
if I get it again on a crusie, eh so be it.
