Just got back....not our best trip

Just got back late this afternoon from 7 days at BCV. We had a one bedroom standard view right on the first floor near the pool. Great location, but the room next to ours was a smoking room and it seeped into our room. Uck! They left their food out side their door too and then later, put it in front of our door! RUDE people! I put it back in front of their door. Hope they tripped over it when then left the room.

The crowds were awful! We are use to going off season and HATED the croweds this time. Fast passes gone early in the day on the good stuff. Little brats were in the hot tub. The quiet pools hot tub was broken along with the kiddie pool for a few days. Kids under 12 should not be in the hot tubs! It was too crowded! We are never going again during peak times. I don't care, I'm pulling the kid out of school.

Which leads to another question. We are booked for Dec 18 to 24. How are the crowds then? Are they just as bad as spring break? Hope not!

DD got sick too. She has some kind of rash and threw up one night. The flight back was filled with very bad children. What a bunch of winny brats! Their parents were just as bad. One family was very rude and when we were getting our bags at baggage claim, the father hip checked me out of me out of the way. And I'm a woman! I guess he deserves a bratty kid!

But, a bad week in Disney is much better than a good week at home!

I'm sorry to hear that. Crowds can really get to anyone.
My DH and FIL got back a couple weeks ago. The day after they got back FIL had caught some nasty stomach bug. When you think of all the places we all touch while at WDW, it is amazing not everyone comes home sick.

As for ~most~ kids, I usually have sympathy for the parents when I see one having a tantrum. WDW can be a stressful and tiring place for any little one, even me for that matter! I think I've seen my DH having a tantrum here and there while at WDW, too! LOL

Here's to a better future trip!

Crowds will be heavy in Dec. also due to the fact you are going at a time when schools are out for Christmas Break. Maybe not has as busy as Spring Break but busy.

Basically anytime schools are out, crowds will be heavier than when they are in session.

Did you stay at BWV or BCV? You said standard view which made me think BWV. All the smoking rooms at BWV are on the second floor, so your neighbors must have been smoking in a non-smoking room. We were on the third floor in December and heard a neighbor checking in complaining to the bellman that someone had smoked in their non-smoking room. I think they should start charging a cleaning fee to people who smoke in a non-smoking room.

I'm afraid the crowds are not going to get any better.
When I called my guide about possibly adding on points, she said that the parks are experiencing record crowds this season during peak times. We went off peak in February, and it was lovely. And, yes, we did yank the kids from school. For some sane together time, it was worth it!

I would say the crowds will just as dense if not more so towards the end of your Dec 18-24 trip

thanks

Thanks for your post - it reminds me of why we insist on going to WDW while schools are in session. So far we haven't had a problem taking the kids out for a week - we try to find a week that has a teacher's conference or something nonholiday that will close the schools for at least one day. We also spend points for two weekends to make a longer trip. This is in lieu of two trips per year which is difficult to arrange with schools. Our holiday vacations will be at Vero Beach or Hilton Head! Sandie B

Wow, sorry your vacation was not up to par. I have never been this time of year before, but we leave tomorrow:eek: We will not be doing any parks though.

I hope your next trip is more "magical".

Oh well, I guess I'll have be used to the crowds in Dec! We'll just
get to the parks early!

I will tell you that the December vacation toward the end of it will be just as crowded, but the first part of it should not be to bad at least at the parks, as for DVC it could be crowded. We have a big problem with out of control kids at DVC, WDW and catch this in this country, so it is just is not WDW. I have become a zig while others are zagging vacation person because of it. I will only go to WDW in January now. My last two experiences during the more popular months have told me to avoid WDW forever during busy times. It might help to go during the least popular times like January, May, very late August and September and the weeks before Thanksgiving in November. You should still be able to enjoy yourself duing those times with a minimum of problems with parents who have no respect for others and let their kids run wild.

I hope your next trip is more magical for you!

We always go during the summer when crowds are high and the heat just adds another element to deal with for all the youngsters.

But we still have a great time. I guess the difference is that we know the crowds will be large and that kids will be cranky...and yes, that some adults will be rude too.

We would love to go during the Christmas season some time...but will have to wait until the kids are finished with school. Have a great time during the holiday season!:)

We agree with the last post, that you can still go during the crowded times, it just changes the approach you take. Our kids (4 of them from ages 3 to 16) would still rather go to Disney than any place else. Fortunately, we are there enough in the out of season times that when we go there and it is busy, we hit what we want to hit and get out and do other things (pool, relax, ...). One of the most important things is to hit the early morning park and then you'll at least get the first hour of short lines. It also helps if you have annual passes, so you don't feel like you're wasting money when you leave the parks after 4 hours, and of course being there as often as we are, you do not feel like you have to see everything.

All in all though, out of season is awesome, but it's still Disney even with the crowds.

Hi,

Sorry you had a not so good trip! I hope your next one is better!

I think our best trips were the ones where we took the kids out of school. Do it while they're young though! Now that we have three in high school there is no way we could do that anymore.

We were at WDW this past Dec. 14-19. The crowds the 14th-17th weren't bad at all. We were able to walk on to many rides and only had short lines for the others. As the week progressed, the crowds started to build. Thursday the 18th was pretty full, as folks started coming for the Christmas break. The later in December, the more crowded it will be.

We tend to go the first couple weeks of Dec the crowds are very light and the weather is usually very good. We always take the kids out of school to go to Disney I could care less what the school says or the teacher for that fact. Go early in Dec and you will have a blast if you have not seen the christmas decorations up you will love them and make time to tour the other resorts and see how they get them dressed up for the holiday season.
