Just got back from our first stay at CBR. We checked in at 7:30 am and our rooms were ready. We had connecting rooms in Barbados 16. One room had a working fridge, and the other had a fridge with a sign saying it had been disconnected and to not use it.
We just threw our luggage in the rooms without checking them out and headed straight to MK. When we got back later that night we noticed one of the rooms had a very musty damp smell. We were too tired to complain that night, and figured we would ask to switch rooms the next day at our mid-day break. Meanwhile we put the air conditioning on high. After our morning at the park, the room wasn't musty anymore (the AC really helped dry it out). So we decided to stay (didn't want to have to pack up and move two rooms).
The rooms were very worn looking and in desperate need of a refurbishment. One mattress was horrible, and there was a lot of dust build up on the headboards and fire alarms and sprinklers. The wallpaper border was peeling and looked a bit moldy. We don't spend a lot of time in the rooms so it didn't bother us too much. The resort is huge...it was a pretty long walk to the main pool after a long day in the parks.
On our last night we noticed some red bugs in the room. We called the front desk and had housekeeping and their bedbug experts to come out and make sure they were not bedbugs. Luckily they were not.
We ate at the food court once and were not impressed. My husband ordered a pasta dish, and was dissappointed to find out it was a prepackaged microwavable type tv dinner. Definitely not like the pasta station at POR foodcourt.
Our kids loved the main pool area and the two water slides. The grounds were very pretty. The quiet pool in the Barbados section was nice as well.
I don't think we would stay here again. We liked POR much more...the theme, boatride to DTD and the foodcourt.
