Just got back from our first stay at CBR. We checked in at 7:30 am and our rooms were ready. We had connecting rooms in Barbados 16. One room had a working fridge, and the other had a fridge with a sign saying it had been disconnected and to not use it.

We just threw our luggage in the rooms without checking them out and headed straight to MK. When we got back later that night we noticed one of the rooms had a very musty damp smell. We were too tired to complain that night, and figured we would ask to switch rooms the next day at our mid-day break. Meanwhile we put the air conditioning on high. After our morning at the park, the room wasn't musty anymore (the AC really helped dry it out). So we decided to stay (didn't want to have to pack up and move two rooms).

The rooms were very worn looking and in desperate need of a refurbishment. One mattress was horrible, and there was a lot of dust build up on the headboards and fire alarms and sprinklers. The wallpaper border was peeling and looked a bit moldy. We don't spend a lot of time in the rooms so it didn't bother us too much. The resort is huge...it was a pretty long walk to the main pool after a long day in the parks.

On our last night we noticed some red bugs in the room. We called the front desk and had housekeeping and their bedbug experts to come out and make sure they were not bedbugs. Luckily they were not.

We ate at the food court once and were not impressed. My husband ordered a pasta dish, and was dissappointed to find out it was a prepackaged microwavable type tv dinner. Definitely not like the pasta station at POR foodcourt.

Our kids loved the main pool area and the two water slides. The grounds were very pretty. The quiet pool in the Barbados section was nice as well.

I don't think we would stay here again. We liked POR much more...the theme, boatride to DTD and the foodcourt.

That sucks that you didn't enjoy the resort as much as you could have, but glad the kids liked the pool, and that the resort responded to your bug issue right away.

I have read that there is a refurb going through the resort starting in Jan 2014. My wife and I are waiting for the refurb to be finished and then we are going to give CBR a try, we have loved both POR and CSR so far, hoping a refurbed CBR will be awesome too. Might have to do POR again for our May 2014 trip though.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have a great stay at the CBR. Like Shaden said, there's a refurb supposed to start sometime in 2014 and should address the room issues that you had. Lucky for us, we haven't experienced anything like you did at the resort.

Hum....that's odd that the pasta dish was pre-packaged. We had pasta from the pizza and pasta station and it was right there on display and they dished it up for us. Maybe they changed since May.

It's good to hear that you did enjoy the resort grounds and that your kiddos had a great time at the pool.
