Just got back from 8 nights at CR

We just got back from an eight night stay at the CR.
I had reserved and paid for a tower room with a MK view. It was to be a surprise for my family. I had imagined for months the look on their faces when we would walk into our room at night and they would see the castle all lit up.
I was the one surprised when they checked us in to a garden wing room with a view of the parking lot. :scared1:
It was pretty late and the person checking us in was of no help so we took the room. I must admit that I did not sleep too well that night.
In the morning there was a message waiting for us to tell us that we would be changing rooms!
That afternoon we checked into our tower, MK view room and were very happy with the view.
We love the look, feel, and location of the CR!
Housekeeping did leave a bit to be desired. The beds looked like my 6 year old made them. The toilet was never cleaned and the carpet was not vacuumed until I asked for it to be on the 6th day. Not enough things to stop us from staying there again but for what you pay one would expect a bit more.
We were on the 11th floor in room 4742. We never heard any construction or Chef Mickey noises. In fact, the only noise we heard was our neighbor’s child playing his harmonica one morning at 7am. We could also hear the Mom shushing him! :rotfl:
The view was fantastic, we loved watching the fireworks from our balcony and the sunsets were lovely.
 
I am so glad it worked out for you. I had saw your post that you posted while you were there. Question for you, did they compensate you for the mishap? We arrive this Thursday at the Contemporary and hoping there are no problems.

Glad you had a wonderful trip...any more info. or suggestions regarding staying there would be highly appreciated.

I would also like to know if they compensated for the room mishap... :confused:
 

We did not ask for any compensation nor did they offer any.
Since we only stayed a total of 9 hours in the first room we did not think we needed any compensation.

Star..other than the room issue we had no other problems at the CR. You will have a great time!
 
CR had never really been a resort that I desired although I plan to stay at each one at least once...But other than your house keeping issues...I think I am looking forward to getting a tower room now!!!
 
As far as the housekeeping, it was not a deal breaker buy no means. I really did try not to nit pick.
Overall we love the place. We like the contemporary feel and decor and the convenience of the monorail cannot be beat.
On our last visit we had a tower room, bay lake view and we thought it was great.
I asked my family if they thought the MK view was worth it and they said “Yes!”
IMO I think both views have their advantages.
One of these days we want to stay at WL but I am having difficulty imaging a better view.

You may have only spent 9 hours in the Garden Wing Standard View room, but that 9 hours equated to 1 night of your stay. I believe there is about a $150/night difference between the GW standard view and the tower MK view. I'm actually very surprised Disney didn't compensate you the difference for that one night. It's your choice, but for $150 I'd certainly be on the phone demanding to get that money back. Other than that, glad you enjoyed your stay there. I still think about my stay there this past September every day :)

Im really surprised they didnt offer to refund you the difference between the GV and MK View. Either way, personally, I wouldnt have left without it.

Disney should have compensated you. Nine hours or not, you paid for an expensive room and did not get what you paid for. Plus, you had the hassle of having to change rooms. I'm not usually one to complain, but I would definitely have spoken up had I been in your situation.
