First off, let me start by saying that this was our second stay at the THV's. Our first trip, we stayed in 7030, which when you look at the map, it is the lowest one (on water), near bus stop, pool, walkway to grandstand. We loved this so much, we requested it again. Yes, a request is just a request.

We were so happy to get to the airport (Syracuse) and find out that our direct flight was the only one not canceled due to JFK closing down due to the weather.....oh ya! :worship: THANK YOU JET BLUE!

We got on the ME bus, and it was only about 1/3 filled and it left after we got on......Yeah things are going good! We checked in at 11:00am and were told that our treehouse was not ready, but would get the text when it was. She circled the area from 7030 to 7039, so of course I assumed we would be getting 7039, which wasn't quite where we wanted! We checked our bags at bell services, ate lunch and headed to EPCOT. It was too cold to go swimming (high of 58 that day, brrrr) but still warmer than home.

I called the phone # about 3:00 and was told that our villa would be ready in the next 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and if we didn't hear back, give another call. At 3:45 we received the text. Villa 7039. It looked pretty far from where we wanted to be on the map, but it really wasn't that far.

We headed back to bell services, got our checked bags and hooked a ride with the bellman to our villa...Yeah! So this trip it was just the four of us: DH, DS13, DD11, and myself. The bellman commented that there were only four of us, and we laughed. Have I told you that we LOVE this resort!?

Our ME bags were already in the room. At first we were apprehensive because we really wanted 7030, but found that we loved the location. We were on the edge of the fairway, and at times it was a little scary when golfers would hit the ball (I could hear it in the trees around me!)

Everything was pretty good in the room. Had to have someone come to check out the internet, and there was a random black dress sock left under the desk, but other than that no issues. The THV still looks new! No issues with subpar furnishings as others have complained about at BLT (We've never stayed there, so no flaming please!)

So, we unpacked, got settled and got set for our ADR at LeCellier! Now when we checked in, the woman did not mention anything about the road construction or shuttle vans picking you up at the south bus stop instead of the buses, so were we shocked when we saw the shuttle van with THV shuttle on the side. We were a little apprehensive to get in at first, but soon realized this was the way to go.

Due to the construction, they ran the bus only at the north bus stop and two shuttles that served both north and south stops then to Springs then to grandstand. We never rent a car, so our rule of thumb is, if the bus/shuttle is there, we will take it. If not, we wait literally about 10 seconds then walk to the grandstand. This time, the shuttle was there, so we took it to the Springs then off to EPCOT!

Wow!!! You got a three bedroom treehouse for the four of you and the points used are the same as a two bedroom villa! Fantastic!!!

We had "extra points" from the resale we bought that needed to be used by 3/31 (April use year) We could definetly get used to it, we love it!

Glad your travel plans weren't disrupted by the weather! What kind of construction is going on at the THV?

We too love the THV. We were there for Thanksgiving '09 and have reservations for this December when my grandparents will hopefully join us!

They were digging trench type holes along the blacktop and placing black erosion type bags in the ground. I was told that they were also repaving the roads. We did not see that at the THV, but on our last day 2/1, we saw it at SSR which did hold up some of the traffic. However, they seemed pretty speedy with things.

On 2/1, we saw both the bus and van at the south bus stop, so not sure how long the shuttles will continue to run. I actually preferred them, as they were faster. It made the run every 10 minutes according to the van driver.

We also will be there in December- at Christmas for 10 nights with my parents. (Made those reservations on the 11th month mark and the three consecutive days after to get it. I hear from these boards that they were booked up withinin a week from the 11th month mark...crazy! But that is why we added on here!) I figured that it would be the perfect getaway from the craziness of the parks.

Glad you had a good time, we're staying there for the first time in May with 7 of us all together. We will have 2 cars, but may use transportation quite a bit, so glad to hear it wasn't that bad!!!! :) Question, the shower in the master bath, is that right outside the tub like it looks, or part of the tub? Just wondering. Keep the info coming, Love reading about these THV's!!

Yes, the door to the shower is on the outside of the shower and whirlpool tub. I am in the process of downloading pix to be able to post them for you!

I will also have some photos of the Wild Africa Trek, but that is my next installment!!!

Oh cool!!! Would LOVE to see pics!!! I just need a walk in shower for myself, due to a disability, I can do the stairs ok, with a little help, but in and out of a shower.....if it's a tub/shower combo, I can't do. Did you use the H2O products they left in the room? Just wondering how they were too.....if you like them, so I know if I need to get shampoo/conditioner LOL I usually bring travel size stuff, but heard good things about the H2O products, and the less we travel with, the better!!! :) Thanks for your report, this will help me out quite a bit!!!!

Can't wait to hear how this goes. We're really splurging this June -- doing a split stay with 5days in a studio and 6 days at THV with me my wife and DD2.9 and DS1.5. 365 points this way vs 373 for 1BR for 11nights. Seemed like an easy decision to sacrifice for the first week!

Hope you enjoy the extra room!

I think you will do fine with the master shower. It is a walk in shower and as I recall I think there is a bench built in. We like the H2O products. We've had plenty of shampoo/conditioner; however, on our last trip they didn't leave any shampoo in the master bath during the trash and towel day -- probably just an oversight.

Looking forward to the pics and your thoughts on the Wild Africa Trek. We were thinking of doing the Trek for our July visit. I asked MS about the details and was told the summer price is $250 per person! Must be spectacular if they expect to book people at that price.

Thanks for the info Doug!!! We're staying here with the military discount, so basically a cash ressie, so hopefully will get new ones every day!!! :)

I'm anxiously awaiting pictures too. I can't get enough pictures of the THV's!!

Here are a few THV pix

Notice the two shower heads! Can't get my kids out of there! They LOVE these. There is a twisty knob that lets the water come out of both shower heads.

Not sure how many pix I can post per post, so I will do a couple posts!

Here are the steps (17 or 18 of them)-Notice the cigarette butt can at the base of the stairs! Also we noticed black poison (rodent?) boxes under the TH and along the edge of the property- those with young children beware!

Back to the toiletries- I use the soap and shower gel. Personally, I dye my hair, so the shampoo and conditioner don't work for me, it dries it out soo much, I'm more of a Redken gal! However, I bring it home to donate to the troops....

More to come later.

So our first night, we went to LeCellier. DH told me that if his steak isn't any better than the last two trips, this was our last trip here. Steak was pretty good...Le Cellier you are lucky or you would be off the short list! We had planned on staying for Illuminations, but were beat, after all we have been up since 3:30am to leave the house at 4:45am to make sure we get to the airport in time.....so we headed back to the room (house) to relax and go to sleep!

Next up...DHS

Now let me tell you we use touring plans for our guidance on where to go what days. We tried the undercover tourist app last trip, and found tp to be much better with the crowd levels, but don't tell anyone;)

General plan:We try to get there right after opening and stay through lunch, head back to resort, chill out, then head to ADR and then a park afterward.

We walked to DHS and got there right after opening (9:05). We got a FP for toystory mania...already 65 minute wait and FP for 10:30, so we did fp instead! Went over and rode RNR and TOT twice each then our FP was ready. Not very happy to find out that the back lot express (I think that's what it's called over next to Indiana Jones) now has burgers with avocado! Yuck!

Dinner at Garden Grill tonight! Yuuuummmmmoooo! Pretty good. We had the best server at this meal. He brought us exactly what we wanted (No fish, no sauce on turkey, chx nuggets and regular fries for the kids-that we have to pay adult prices for and who don't eat adult food!) He told us that if we were happy with our service we could ask for him again. I asked if he was working Christmas eve, and we told him we would see him then!

The next day we headed for AK for the Wild Africa Trek!

We had great guides!!! It was pretty neat! We met behind the Tusker House where we were escorted to a little hideaway with our harness vests and lockers for all of our belongings from our pockets that could not secured by a carabiner!

As we all get fastened in, we then go through our safety check. We go across a practice suspension bridge then get to sip hot chocolate. Reminder, no bathrooms for two hours, so don't drink too much! We get escorted through the streets of Harambe with some facts about the trees, plants, ect. We get escorted the back way into the Pagani Forest Trek. Note the gorilla. They told us that the gorillas hate the two male guides. Look at him sleeping then giving the look!

We were told that the male gorillas are very territorial. We then heard a gorilla thump his chest and appear. We walked to the other side (the plexiglass side) and he came charging. Our guide was about 30 ft back but his mere presence upset the gorilla. The guide took his cue, and we continued on. We walked through the "jungle" and spoke with a CM who keeps track of the hippos. We then got tethered in to see the hippos!

We were on the opposite side of where the regular safari is:

Off to the two suspension bridges One by one startine with the photopass photographer guide we were hooked in to go across: ( I hope I'm okay posting her- Mods edit if you need to, I'll post a diff picture if I need to!)

I've never seen so many crocs!

After we were all safely across we were tethered again so we could see the crocs! After safely untethering, we took off our safety vests and boarded a safari vehicle. We had appx 5 pair of binocs for everyone (12 of us) to share. We had special pull off spots then had a snack in the pretty cool pavillion....yes, bathrooms!

Definitely worth the $129 pp we paid. Not so sure of $250 price tag, but I have to tell you, I have the best pix of my DS smiling. I never get him to smile in Disney pix ever, he is always joking and screwing around making stupid faces, so to get a smile and great pix, priceless!

This was hands down, the highlight of our trip. Worth doing at least once. Best of all, we got the photopass card of our pix and a code for the CD and shipping for free!

How could the day get any better? Next up, dinner at 'Ohanas!!!
