We just got back from a stay at SSR and BCV. SSR always has activities so I was not surprised. BCV/BC/YC also has activities in the afternoon through the night with the campfire/smores/movie under the skies. It was nice to watch Enchanted on the beach the other night. The activities sheet looks just like SSR's, it is a monthly activity sheet based on each day of the week.

What about AKV, or other deluxe resorts such as Poly/GF/Cont?

BTW, we took the bus service at SSR from MK back to Springs Section, it took over an hour at night at closing (the wait time at MK plus all the stops). We originally wanted to wait for the bus to get to MK around 6ish that night, the bus never came so we just got on a bus that was going to Epcot, did some stuff and then took the monorail over to MK. These were the only 2 times we took the bus. I would not stay at SSR without a car.

We've been members for 11 years, and yes, there have always been activities.

Thanks for the reply. We have stayed at all the Deluxe and DVC resorts onsite (except for AKV). However, I don't remember seeing activities at Contemporary, Poly, or GF to the extent of what I just saw at SSR and BCV. I know BWV and OKW have activities most of the day. But even for BCV, I don't remember it had this many activities when we were there for Xmas 07..

What happened with BCV is that the Recreation Manager Mike, that opened the Community Hall at SSR, was moved over to BCV. He is a true hands on type manager and brought BCV's recreational activities from 0 to 60 in months. He beefed up the staff and they are clearly more visible and active.
Many nights he was out on the beach leading the campfire and setting up the movies, getting guests involved, who were not aware that BCV was offering these activities now. Next came the poolside parties and music and games. I really enjoy SAB alot more since they have added the activities.

Mike was recently moved to the MK area and it is rumored that he will lead the BLT Community Hall, so it should be awesome! Susan is now at SSR and she has done a great job and the schedule is as full as ever. We had a great time last month at the Camp Rock Premiere party!

BWV offers activities, but mainly in the community hall and their staff rarely come from behind the desk. My boys like it because it has air hockey.

OKW has had the same lady for years and they are not as active either.

I guess VWL is so close to FW that they give you an activity sheet for FW at check in and you can attend the activities there.

Right now, AKV has a rec staff, and they have alot of offerings that involve the animals. AKV will have a Community Hall also.

I see your last stay at BWV was about a year ago, but I don't know when the last time you actually visited there to see the activities (if it was more recent or not?).

They now have pool parties (like BCV), as well as ceramics and more activities. I think you will find it more active in there as of late, since they have been putting a lot of work into sprucing up the place in the last 6 months or so.

That is definitely good news! We were there last month and have a 1 bed booked for Sept.:thumbsup2

We went to Welcome Home Wednesday (from BCV) and then went to Comm Hall for a couple of hours and then hit the pool. I did see they added PS2 Slims, and a flat panel (wasnt hooked up yet), but I didnt see any rec staff besides the lady behind the desk.

Im all for improvements!:thumbsup2

I was just at BWV Community Hall last week for an hour or too. I did not check the activity sheet, but it felt the same to me except that Community Hall was rearranged like LIFERBABE said, with one lady at the back of the counter. We were there to play foosball and air hockey. It is great to hear that they are sprucing things up there. BCV's activities are a lot of fun and now it is our favorite resort because of these.

There's an activity sheet for VWL. My DGC (3,4,5) took part in cookie decorating and they went to the Bear Den (not sure of the name) to decorate Bear Masks. The feature film for that afternoon was Brother Bear.

I saw a bit older group of kids playing Bingo by the pool.

Bobbi:goodvibes

Yeah, BCV definitely has really nice kids activities and BWV sort of has to suffer for that. For a long time, they were unwilling to bring pool parties over to the other side of Crescent Lake (well... bring them back from awhile ago). You should hopefully see a more visible recreation staff around BWV soon though... from what I have heard, like I said they are now at the pool doing pool parties every day. I believe they also do some activities in the lobby.

If you like the activities at BCV and want to see them at other DVC resorts (or even non-DVC resorts), make sure to let the people at Disney know how much you enjoy them! That is the best way to ensure that they will continue to run such programs and may even expand them to other resorts (as they have begun to do).
