Just got a NASTY letter from by neighbor....need opinions ...Warning Long!!!..

It sounds to me like her rant about not knowing what to do with the pants was just a rant - she wants to keep them and plans to wear them. When you offered to take them off her hands she basically accused you of stealing them. I think you tried your best to rectify it, but she just wants to be mad.

If she presses it, I'd tell her that you felt horrible and tried your best to make it up to her - offered her money, replaced the pants, and even offered to dispose of the old ones - and then pointedly ask her flat out exactly what she is wanting from you.

I'd go straight over there and rip YOUR pants right out of her dog-hating hands! After all, you paid for them, they're yours! Ask Judge Judy!!!!

Actually I'd do exactly what peg2001 said. :p

I think if you just contact the place she orderd from they will replace them or at least refund the money.

I had a similar thing happen to me but my story is actually kind of funny. We lived on a farm a year back and did not have a fenced yard. Our two dogs were neutered and never roamed from home. Our yard was on an acre of land surrounded by 40 acres of pasture land which we also owned. Even though we lived on a dirt road one of our dogs started chasing cars. We looked into fencing the 1 acre lot but it was quite expensive so we decided to go with one of those electronic dog fences (the ones where the wire is underground and the dog wears a radio controled collar that warns them if they get too close to the property boundaries. Then if they continue, they get shocked.)

We ordered it and it was delivered when we weren't home. The UPS guy just laid it on our porch. When we got home, the dogs had torn open the box and completely chewed up the special collars. I had the fun job of calling the company and telling them my dogs chewed it up before we could even use it. They laughed and I laughed but they sent me two more collars and asked me to return the destroyed collars with a pre-addressed stamped box that they would send with the new collars. They said all their stuff was insured and if it was destroyed in transit, they would replace it. They considered it still in transit if it wasn't inside my house. They also told UPS not to leave the new package on the porch next time if we weren't there.

Ya know I had thought about that but she has been so ugly about it I will just wash my hands of it. But it did get me thinking thoug. Maybe she didn't want to give me the pants because she was going to return them to Old Navy and get double the money!! Hmmmmm. Makes you think huh???

Oh well.... I will chalk this up to one bigW-H-A-T-E-V-E-R!!!

Is that your neighbor standing behind you in the picture? ;)

:rotfl:

Anyway, like the others, there isn't much more you can do for your neighbor to make her happy, except maybe keep the dogs away from her house!:teeth:

Anyhitng is possible with nutty neighbors. You have done the right thing by reimbursing her. What she decides to do is her problem, not yours. I'd avoid her as much as possible though. Sounds like a nut!

You did all you needed to. I would avoid her from now on. My little dogs escape alot too and I'm always trying to find new ways to keep them in. My neighbor called me from WDW a couple of times when her college aged son didn't take their lab to the kennel like he was suppose to, for me to go over and let him out a couple of times (the son was working or at school, thought he was doing them a favor saving them some money  ). I had no problem going over there at all. But he jumped up on me and tore my leather coat. I didn't even tell her. It happens. And I LOVE my new coat! ;)

Your neighbor is a difficult individual. She is not looking to make things better, she is making things worse. I think you've done everything you could/should. I would minimize all future involvement with this person.
