Just found out that Allspice is not a combination of several spices, mind blown!

I had always assumed that Allspice was just a combination of spices but today I happened upon the Wikipedia page for Allspice and had my mind blown that it is actually it's own spice and not a combination of spices.

Its a seed, not a nut. I learned this when my life threatening nut allergy DD wanted an Italian beef from a particular place and I knew the juice had nutmeg in there as a spice.

Then I googled it learned its a seed and DD has been enjoying the 2nd best beef in Chicago for maybe 14 years now.

Allspice is from the Jamaican bayberry tree... it's the fruit/berry from the tree.

But I also learned you can use a mix of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg if you do not have allspice.
